It would appear that Michelle has finally made her home at Sola Salons. My previous review was perhaps a bit critical of her moving around, but at the time I really was unaware of how much "named" studios can take from the stylist. Nobody would want to only take home 30 or 40% of what the work they did cost! (if you ever wondered why big name Massage parlors want you to still provide huge tips to your masseur, that's why) This was what was truly at the heart of her moving around. Sola provides a work space for these professionals, and allows them to keep all the money they make! As for Michelle herself, she has always been a delight, and in addition to providing me with a great haircut, is always a great person to have a chat with during the haircut. The bottom line is that if you are looking for a great haircut, at a great price from a great person, Studio Michelle is a great choice. read more

I first met Michelle when I was starting chemo and my nurse recommended her. I needed to have my head shaved because I was going to lose my hair. She was so sweet to me and my family wouldn't even let me pay her. A year later when my hair grew back I called Michelle for an appointment. I would say that her cut was ok - her shampooing is like having your head banged against a wall - she's non stop complaining about everyone and everything in the land - she did listen to me a short while about my hair issues - but took her 2 hrs to shampoo, cut and style ,,, I think she has the knowledge to be great - she's cheaper than regular salons in cuts but not color -a potential color she told me would require 3 hrs - a little longer than a numb butt will allow - honesty is the best policy - I think her regulars have what they want but new clients are not really wanted at this time and it shows read more

I found Michelle on yelp about six months ago. I had just moved here from Atlanta and was very nervous about getting a new stylist. I Had been with mine in Atlanta for years.This place is so cool. It is all individual rooms with about 30 stylists. My almost 17 year old daughter decided she wanted to cut about 10" off her hair and wanted to do it before she chickened out. Thing is it was a Sunday and our hairdresser had just left our salon and quit cutting hair. I used Yelp to search for salons open on Sunday. The first three couldn't do it. Michelle was able to get both of us in at the end of her Sunday. She did a fabulous job on my daughter's hair. She went from mid back layers to an above the shoulders angled bob. She has naturally wavy hair and Michelle had helpful styling suggestions. We all loved her cut!! Next it was my turn. I had liked the way my previous stylist cut my hair but he had insisted on using a razor and it left my hair "fuzzy". Michelle got the same styling effect with scissors and left no fuzz. I loved the cut! Before she cut it, she consulted with me about how much time I spend on my hair, etc. Again, she gave me several styling tips. One complaint I have had about a bigger salon is the requirement to try to up sale the client with products and treatments. Though Michelle has products for sale, there was no pushy sales pitch. Here comes the best part--Michelle asked how much we paid for a cut at our previous salon--it was a little less than her set price. Though I didn't ask, she met their price! And she threw my daughter's eyebrow wax in free since we were first time customers! She also offered me a cut and color special if I bring the whole family in on a Sunday. We found Michelle's salon space to be comfortable. I liked the privacy and quietness. We were able to sit comfortably and talk while the other one was getting her hair done. Michelle is very outgoing and interesting to talk to. She likes getting to know her clients without seeming nosy or invasive. We will definitely go back to Michelle and though I have only been home a couple of hours, I have already referred a friend to Michelle. read more

I moved to the area a few years ago and tried several different stylists. Even after I explained what my previous stylist did, I was left with thick coppery, tri-colored hair (this was not the look I was going for!). This left me going back in to have it corrected on more than one occasion. I gave Michelle a try and she actually listened. Since switching to Michelle, I have been very pleased, and I appreciate her willingness to make me a happy customer! Since COVID started, I also applaud her in following precautions to keep her clients safe by wearing a mask and face-shield, and by disinfecting her space between clients. In addition, she researched and purchased an expensive UVC light to disinfect the area overnight. I would give this a zero star if I could. I've been looking for someone to cut my hair and everywhere was booked, finally I found somewhere that said they could get me an hour after I called. Then not long after she called back making multiple excuses that a regular was running late, decided to show anyway, etc. So she canceled my cut for them, I am paying customer just like everyone else, you should never promise a hair cut to someone then cancel it. Michelle has been my hair stylist for 8 plus years now. I began seeing here when I was a walk in at a salon she worked at years ago at the mall. She is very honest , very reasonable , and I have had many compliments on my hair since she began styling it. I was looking for not only a good hair stylist but a good colorist. I was regularly dying my hair jet black and when I moved here I bought box jet black hair dye from target and did it myself because my roots where bad and I didn't have time to find a random stylist I wanted to do research before just going to someone. well recently I went to Michelle and told her I didnt want to be jet black anymore after two months ago of dying it myself. She did not waste time she said this is going to take some time we sat down for THREE hours and she got half of the black out she told me to come back the following day because she had other appointments coming in. she scheduled me in last min! I came in the next day Michelle brought me from a jet black mess to a beautiful auburn! The best color for the upcoming fall too! Not only did Michelle take care of me and went above and beyond to make me look good and professional for work but my hair feels amazing it does not feel like she used any chemicals or dyes on my hair! She also gave me suggestions for shampoos and conditioners and they are amazing my hair looks and feel amazing. Michelle also made me feel really comfortable especially with how long it took to undo the damage I did. She was very knowledgeable about color and let me know what she was doing every step of the way.
