Absolutely beautiful salon and the most perfect location in downtown Franklin! It was my first visit and I was seeing Brooklyn. I'll note I was looking for a haircut, grey coverage on roots and a partial highlight on ends. She could not be more sweet and kind! Did a wonderful job on haircut itself! That said, color was not good. Roots were light, warm, brassy.... Everything I did not want. That said, she owned it and apologized knowing she messed up. I was going to come back as she offered to fix. But when I did my hair for the first time since my appointment, I noticed she didn't cover my grays properly, lots still showing on the sides. Between those two mistakes I just didn't trust to come back again. I know she will be amazing the more experience she gets under her belt, but I just can't have my head be the guinea pig after a few mistakes already. I do recommend her for cuts and blowouts as nearly perfect, but if speaking for my experience only... more practice needed on color before I would recommend that. Not happy at all. I stopped going to Dions years ago because the stylist I had messed up my color and never gave me any discount or anything on my next visit to compensate for it but she's gone now so I thought I'd give it a go. wish I never did and sure wish I could get my $75 back I spent for a haircut. my cut isn't even at the ends. my friends noticed and told me immediately. even they said it wasn't a good cut for the price. The stylist texturized my bangs so much I hate them! she ruined my bangs. I had full Taylor Swift-like bangs and now they're thin and a tad short. She knew they were screwed up because during blow drying them she kept pulling down at them. well no wonder. learned my lesson so I'll grow my hair out for a bit and go elsewhere. read more

Dion's has a fantastic location and curb appeal, and well as a large space with room for all kinds of goodies and lots of stylists. However, the curb appeal ends once you get past reception, and you find a very dated salon. It's definitely a time warp back into the 80's, but not in a good way. It can be dark and musty in some places, and there are way too many darkened corners and cracks filled with piles of old hair and debris. It's downright gross. Not to mention the space is very oddly sectioned, with 3 floors (or more?) and different styles happening in each. They also have some stylists crammed into walkways, which is uncomfortable for both the sitting clients and the passing ones. I keep coming back however, because they are affordable, yet still have the high-end styles and services. Yet each time I go in, I find myself inevitably staring at a corner filled with hair; or smelling the musty carpet of the bottom floor, and thinking of how desperately they need a remodel. Especially considering the standard of the other businesses and competing salons around them. read more

THIS IS A MINUS 1 for the owner. i could have asked someone with no training to cut my hair and they would have done just as good a job. He has been in the hair business for a long time and has a special talent for being able to cut hair a certain way. When I went in, he just cut an inch off all around (one single cut) called it good. Incredibly personable and professional, she took her time and preceded ask me throughout the process how I thought it looked. She taught me a couple tricks to use to get my hair looking like how I want it. The atmosphere is great too, bright lights and a laid back vibe. Dion's South is pricey but fabulous! You get what you pay for, and I left feeling absolutely wonderful. Hannah gave me a great haircut with minimal direction, and my blowout was soft and lasted for days. She is wonderful and the sweetest! Feels like leaving the spa because I was so relaxed and content. The one caveat I would say is it is a split level salon with stairs, so it is probably not the most handicap accessible, but that's an issue in much of downtown Franklin. read more

My normal hair stylist was on maternity leave and I met a stylist who worked at Dions who said they could handle doing the look that I wanted (money piece, fix some of the grow out from past color, root touch up). She showed me her portfolio and I agreed to come in. When I got there I showed her what I wanted again and 5 hours later I came out a frizzy blond-ish mess. I have dark brown hair. The ends were fried and split and the color was way off. She severely over-processed my hair. I had a curly cut scheduled a week later so I hoped that would fix some of the mess. It did not and that stylist had to cut 2.5 inches off my hair. I could also barely run a comb through my hair due to the tangles caused by the excessive processing. I reached out to Dions to see if they would fix it and no one every got back to me. I am really disappointed that a well known salon would not try to assist a customer who was unhappy with the work of one of their stylists. I will never go back and will never recommend this salon. read more

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and a total waste of my time. I made an appointment with Tania to get highlights. She was accepting new clients and it looked like she did great work. When I got there, I met with her, we discussed the color and she then tells me she wasn't taking any new clients and wouldn't have time to do my hair until the middle of May. WTF? My appointment was to have my hair done and now she not only can't do my hair, but starts telling me about some of the other people in the salon who I may be able to make an appointment with. She said that nobody could do my hair today. Wow!!! If that's the way this salon treats its customers, I will not be going to ANYONE at the salon. To be clear, my appointment WAS NOT for a consultation, it was to have my hair highlighted. I do not recommend this salon. read more

I really wanted to like this place, and I gave it a fair try. I made several appointments: 1) The first visit I got a great haircut, just what I asked for. 2) The second visit I got color. Not great. I have dark hair and we talked about going a little more auburn, which I was pumped about. She put the color on the roots (I have grays so this makes sense). I kept waiting for her to come back and comb it through, but she never did. So I had auburn roots and dark hair at the bottom. In low lighting it was not terribly obvious, but in natural daylight is was a mismatched hot mess. 3) The third time was awful. I tried a different stylist and she did exactly what I asked her not to- too short and too heavy on the bangs. I showed her a pic beforehand, but somehow we miscommunicated. I have spent the last 6 months in a ponytail trying to grow it out. I can understand that results don't always match people's expectations, but what was the worst about this visit was that after a few minutes of sitting in her chair and never meeting her before, she made an offensive comment about gays & lesbians...I mean, she knew nothing about me, why did she go there? We could have just talked about the weather, or our pets... 4) Against my better judgment, I scheduled another appointment with a different stylist. I really wanted to change my opinion about this place, but 10 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, they tell me the stylist isn't coming. So I'm done. I give it two stars because I liked my first haircut, the interior is classy, and the people at the front desk are very friendly. But for the price, I won't be spending anymore time or money here. read more

Yesterday I was in the Dion's salon for the hair dye. I have been to this salon several times, everything was excellent . But yesterday It was horrible, never again to junior stylist! Stylist dyed my hair for 4 hours, after washing she had difficulties with combing my hair, and instead of gentle untangling, she pulled it out with the hairbrush . I saw on the floor so much hair, also it was VERY painful. When I left the salon, my hair looked like a broom. At home, I tried to fix the situation, in the end I spent money on an expensive mask and leave-in conditioner. But it didn't help much, now I need to cut it, because hair looks very damaged and dry. Thank you for the bad mood and hair, which will be very difficult to restore. I should've to leave right away, but I endured, and it was my mistake. Also, I see that my color is uneven and in some places it's yellow. I didn't noticed that in the salon. $264 for the pain and waisted time! Yesterday I didn't plan to write a bad review. But in the morning I realized how bad my hair looks. read more

I can't say enough about this place and her. When you walk in, you feel special. The place is stunning, impeccable and everyone is very friendly which is a nod to the owner, Richard. When I sat in Melissa's chair, I immediately felt in good hands. She listened and guided me to what would look best. She identified issues with my hair and confidently assured me that with her help, I could regain the healthy hair I once had. I had a 3 PM appointment on Saturday and Had planned a few other things that I needed to get done after leaving the salon...allowed plenty of time to have my hair treated with the Straightening treatment. My stylus was running late and I had to wait until 345 to get started with my hair treatment. This intern screwed up the rest of my Saturday. I needed to get some important things done and couldn't get medication at my pharmacy because it is already closed. I don't think that I will be going back to Dion's due to what seemed like poor scheduling by the front desk. In addition to the delay, my hair is wavy in some sections and not uniformly straight as it should be. I've been getting this done for over 10 years so I know what to expect. Best experience I have had getting my hair done! Krista was my stylist and she was confident, sweet and did an incredible job on my hair! It was clear she has been cutting hair for over 8 years! I didn't know exactly how I wanted it cut but I trusted her advice and she did a great job adding layers for more volume. The color she did was beautiful. I wanted a ombre/balayage and it turned out gorgeous. The best part of the experience was the time she took massaging my head while washing my hair (my favorite part of getting my hair done!). She also did some beautiful beach curls for my date that night with my husband. This is a great high end yet laid back salon! All the staff were very friendly and made me feel right at home! The prices are very reasonable and I will be back to see Krista as long as I am living in Nashville:-) read more

Don't let the fancy decor fool you--this place is by far the most unprofessional place I have ever been. My appointment was Tuesday at 9am. I got a text on Sunday at 12:07pm asking me to click a link to confirm the appointment. I did. The day of, I get a text at 8:02am saying I should plan to leave early to avoid the traffic from construction. I was coming from half an hour away, and didn't see the text until too late. Something that they don't tell you ANYWHERE is that their parking is parallel parking in the street ONLY. As a first time customer, this was frustrating to find out when I was already running late from the traffic. I was parked by 9:07am. From the direction I walked, I did not see that there were TWO doors that said "Dion's Salon". I went in the door to the right and waited in an empty office for 5-7 minutes until I finally yelled "hello?" And someone came and told me to go next door. I then go next door and wait 7-10 minutes there because there was NO ONE at the reception, or literally anyone that I could see. There is no bell to ring or anything. I yelled "hello?" Without a response and waited longer. Finally a German/Russian/foreign lady comes up and says "I didn't know you were here. How can I help you?" I told her I had an appt with a Brittany. She asked for my name and then proceeded to tell me: "your appt was at 9am and it is 9:23am. We called to confirm you weren't coming, and cancelled." I NEVER GOT A CALL. I began to explain to her about the text with the traffic info being too late to make a difference, the parking, the fact that it's not clear which door I should go in and I went to the wrong place, and how long I had waited in the actual salon. She tried to cut me off in the middle of me talking and had the AUDACITY to purse her lips and look angry at ME for not letting her talk over me. (I wasn't rude, I just kept talking and didn't let her interrupt me. If I was a business owner, I'd want to know what issues first time customers had in getting to their appt.) Then my hairdresser walks in. She tried to tell me the same thing about me being called--that was a lie. I 100% was NOT called and can prove it. You'd think such a fancy place would touch up the paint where it has chipped all over the trim. The adjoining empty stations had hair EVERYWHERE on the floor. To get from shampoo to hair cut was 5 flights of stairs. FIVE. Difficult when 38 weeks pregnant. I don't know how this place is passing fire codes with the number of power strips full of plugs. To be in such an old downtown building, especially the way it is connected to several other historic buildings, you'd think they'd be a little stricter about that. I can tell you as a former firefighter, they are lucky their place hasn't burnt to the ground yet. The footrest on the chairs are so tiny that it's difficult to keep your feet from sliding off. Very uncomfortable. My feet were swollen from having to hang most of the time! The only pro is that Brittany picked up on the vibe that I wasn't one to chatter, and did not pressure me with a whole bunch of pointless questions like most hairdressers do. She also did a good job on the cut (all I did was trim dead ends off and get a couple layers btw). When I go to pay, they charge me NINETY DOLLARS. I have it IN WRITING via email that I asked for a Junior Stylist. The website says a junior stylist cut is $40. And all she did was a trim and layers!?! If shampoo and curling my hair was extra, and was going to DOUBLE that price, that should have been explained to me beforehand. She said she had been there for 7 months, but didn't have a business card and wrote her information on the back of someone else's card. I really shouldn't have tipped, but still tipped 15%. It was a completely different girl than the first lady at reception that checked me out and charged my card. The hairdresser then wanted to take a couple pictures of my hair which is fine; but it turned into this whole ordeal where I had to do like 20 different poses in the heat of the sun, put my belongings on a bench that I had my back turned to so anyone could run up and grab it, wearing black in the heat, and 38 weeks pregnant with swollen feet. I was really looking forward to a relaxing, enjoyable time to do something for myself before baby arrives--and this place did the complete opposite. Extremely disappointed. I will be putting this review everywhere where I can review this place in hopes others will not waste their money here. read more

I've gotten my hair cut here a handful of times and have to say, even though every time I've gone, I've requested a junior hairstylist... They have ALL done an incredible job. They really take the time to make sure they are giving you a great haircut! Rachel was the stylist who served me last time and I think I might have found my stylist for LIFE! She gives the BEST massages when giving you a shampoo and gave me back some happiness and life after giving me an incredible haircut! She was very friendly too! Wishing my hair grows faster so I can see her again soon! From what I've heard, the owner really takes all of his stylists through great trainings and ensures they are ready to move up to the next level of professionalism before promoting them. A great place all around. The staff is professional and courteous and they do a fantastic job at listening to your wishes and then offering suggestions to achieve exactly what the clients want! They are not pushy selling their product, which I appreciate and actually lets me choose to buy from them on occasion without feeling pressured. The only downside is that they really, really, need to clean their air duct system. If you ever walk by their vents and look, they are absolutely disgusting and I can only imagine what they are blowing out into the air that the customers and stylists breathe. If they would only fix this problem, the salon would be perfect! read more

I have very thick hair and after moving to Franklin, I tried several different salons, but never received a true, precision cut. That is, until I found Dion's South and Richard. I visited Dion's South last month and was impressed. I went in just for a haircut and my stylist listened to what I wanted and styled my hair how I like it and that's hard to do. They have nice massage chairs while you are getting your hair shampoo'd and overall it's a relaxing salon. The set up of the salon is that like a home where you have to go down 2 flights of steps to get to the shampoo room, lil odd but that won't keep me from not coming back. read more

My daughter and I have been coming here for several years. We both had appointments today which were confirmed on Tuesday. I received a call yesterday saying one stylist was not available. The woman on the phone said she could work it out and said we were both confirmed for 4pm. We arrived on time, my daughter was taken. I waited 15 minutes and asked if my stylist was running over. Yes. At 4:30 when I had not heard anything I asked again. Yes. About 10 minutes later my daughter was finished and I indicated I was not interested in waiting any longer. I was totally ignored by the front desk. As we were leaving someone at the front desk apologized. I have never been treated so rudely at a salon. We will not be back. read more
