This is a great place for a haircut which is all I need. Upon walking in, one always gets a nice welcome from staff. Lulu cuts it just as I want it. She know's what she's doing and does it without any muss or fuss and her price is fair for this area. She is born and raised here and therefore a wealth of information for someone like me who is new to this area. The only drawback is that Lulu is usually booked up for at least a month ahead. Before Christmas last year, I couldn't get an appointment. So I booked with another stylist there. She did an excellent job and I now consider her as a good backup to Lulu. read more

I met my stylist a few years ago after getting the worst haircut of my life. See, I was trying to save a few dollars and went to a place that was offering a 'cheap' haircut. It was cheap alright. I had NEVER had my hair looks so bad. So, I called one of those salons in the mall and asked if there was any way they could fit me in ASAP. The woman on the other side was so friendly and pleasant sounding and told me she'd fix me up - just to come on down and they'd fit me in. So, I drove down to Cool Springs and meeting my stylist, Lulu, and she did fix my hair. I was eternally grateful and I've been using her every since. Well, she decided she wanted to branch out and move to a smaller, non-chain salon. She told me to visit her at her new place, Salon One Twenty. So, I have been going to Studio One Twenty for over a year now and I have to say I pretty much love it! Not only is it a nice salon - but parking is super easy! There is a parking lot right out front and I don't have to make a long trek through a huge mall just to get my hair cut. But more than just location and ease of parking - its located near some of my favorite stores (not in a mall)...Bed Bath and Beyond and TJ Maxx! So, if she's ever running behind or I'm super early - I just pop in one of those stores for some quick shopping. This salon does a few cool things that other salons I've been to don't. One is they have a local art school put up artwork in the salon. All of which is for sale. I think its great that they are using local art and not generic, off the shelf art. Or simply pictures of hair or something. The artwork is fresh and new and always a topic of conversation. I also like that they have a lot of services available. From the normal cut and color to manicures and pedicures. I guess most salons have those services - but, again - I was going to a mall chain salon for a long time and they never had those services available in the salon itself. Lulu is a perfectionist (which I love). She makes sure she washes my hair after the cut and then looks over my hair again to check for any missed long hairs. She knows just how I like my hair and we always have great conversations. She can usually fit me in whenever I need a haircut. My schedule is pretty hectic so I usually can't make appointments really far in advance because I have no idea what I'll be doing or when I'll be doing it...But she's always been very accommodating to my schedule and working me in somehow. I can't vouch for all the people at Studio One Twenty...But I can say I haven't seen much turnover there - so, they must be happy! The place is always busy so they must have good business there. I think you'll like it too. Its easy to access from the interstate (Cool Spring Blvd West - just off I-65), the parking is convenient, they have some great stylists and lots of services and tons of great products. Personally I use Maneuver by Redken from the men's line - which can be hard to find! They always stock it which makes my search a little easier. Yay for Studio One Twenty!! read more

Called at 11 to see if they could do a blow out. The girl told me that they could do 12. Drove down, waited for 20 minutes because "she was at lunch" . Then a new girl says.... "are you Tara" and I said yes and she said "we've txt her and called her but her phone died and she doesn't seem to have gotten the note to come in"... seriously? You didn't even have someone to do it and then you made me wait 20 mins before telling me that she isn't at "lunch" ... she just isn't and wasn't going to be here? Ridiculous. It's my birthday party today and I'm sure another salon in Franklin could have accommodated me. Don't come here, they don't have their shit together. I didn't even get so much as an apology. As I waited for my husband to come back and get me (he went out to get my gift and party decor)... the receptionist just left and literally never came back. Really really disappointing. Let me start by saying I'm an incredibly hard-to-please individual when it comes to my hair. I have long, fine hair, but it's also super thick. So, whomever is cutting my hair has to take their time or it can look like a disaster. The reason I was looking for a new hair stylist was because I had just transferred home after going away to school and my old hair stylist at another salon had moved. That being said I absolutely love Studio One Twenty, and Erin, who is the person who cut and styled my hair. It looks fabulous, and she took the time to help me figure out an easy way to style it. She also showed me how to help lock in my volume, and, without being pushy, showed me some shampoo and conditioner that would do the job in my hair without leaving a waxy feel and a build up in my hair. She also told me to get my money's worth and use all the shampoo and conditioner I had left and then, when I come back to get highlights for the summer put in, in a few weeks, to check out the products offered. I really enjoyed Erin and the way she knew put layers in the back of my hair to give it shape (it's fine so it seems to always fall flat) and the knowledge she showed. I would recommend Studio One Twenty to anyone, and with a shampoo, cut, blow-dry, and style only $40, it's a $10-$20 dollar minimum difference for the same high quality of other salons. I'm highly disappointed. Stanley the co-owner is the one that messed up my hair. Completely missed blonde pieces in my hair... (Dying it to a brown with red ombre like ends) Didn't even remotely give me what I asked for and left me under the dryer entirely to long (45 minutes). He started cutting someones hair while I was under the dryer which is why I think he left me there for so long. I'm 23 and I've been having my hair done for the last 10 years and my hair has never rejected color. Before leaving he advised me that he had missed blonde pieces but at that point I had already been there for three going on four hours. He said that I could come back at any time and he would fix it... However the next day when I woke up I was having breathing issues and couldn't figure out what was causing it.. My mother said that she could smell chemicals. At which point I took a shower because I was worried that there were still chemicals/dye left in my hair. The water was literally black from how much dye was left in my hair... It took two shampoos/ two conditioners and my hair still won't rinse out clean. Upon calling studio one twenty today Stanley advised me that he would not give me a refund and honestly was extremely unprofessional. Told me that there was no way I had dye left in my hair and that I was wrong.. I have pictures and a witness. I've never been so unsatisfied with my hair in my entire life. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I won't be going back to have him fix it because I'm afraid to. Please don't let this happen to you and go somewhere else. I don't recommend going to this establishment to anyone. read more

After trying this salon out, I will not be returning. I went in with a picture of the haircut I wanted, and I got exactly the opposite. The cut I wanted was long in front and short in the back, I came out with a cut that was very short in the front and long in the back. I was told that my stylist was "one of the owners" but he did not act like he cared about me or the business at all. While cutting my hair, he spent his time either trying to arrange for his truck to be repaired, or talking with my 15 year old daughter. She said it creeped her out. He rarely ever acknowledged me at all. The only reason I did not give them a single star is because the cut I received was a quality cut - - just totally not at all what I asked for. read more

Stan the owner took care of me and broke the long line of disappointment i've experienced with every other hair cut in my life. He gave me one of the best cuts in my LIFE. My hair is extremely thick and long and I came in with a picture of a textured short bob and he NAILED it. I have never felt this beautiful and can not wait to go back. I have been going to see Adam Phillips for years (over 6 or 7). I travel for my job and have lived in other states (including Washington State), but when I would come back to Nashville I would always make an appointment with him. I'm currently in NC and still go back to TN and will see him (I have literally traveled back just to get a haircut from him). He is amazing and I haven't found anyone who can create highlights like him. I have very fine hair so any cut shows major lines if not done correctly and he makes it flow perfectly. His personality is also amazing and he is very easy to talk to and he always makes me feel like I'm also seeing a friend. I highly recommend him. I've never left a review before, but my experience was so not good that I feel compelled to say something. I have been a fairly happy client of Studio 120 for about six months. My regular stylist called out sick on the day of my appointment, but I was assured by the receptionist that someone would be available to cut and color my hair anyway and that my stylist would brief them on what I usually had done. When I arrived the stylist that had been assigned to me (which turned out to be one of the owners) was totally unprepared. My stylist hadn't given him my color formula or any information about my haircut so he decided to wing it. I assumed since he was the owner, he would know what to do. What a disaster! He was unable to match my usual color, and after trying for almost 2.5 hours to come even close, we decided to give up on it and move on to the haircut. Because the color had taken so long, and he needed to leave to pick up a family member, he totally rushed the haircut. Once I got home I realized that it was completely uneven and parts of it were cut super short while other parts weren't even cut. I don't think I'll be headed back to Studio 120 any time soon. I never did hear from my regular stylist to apologize for the situation, and if the owner does a bad job, who's left to talk to about it? read more

Upon calling to see if it was possible to get a haircut at 4:20 PM, I was informed they're already closing down for the day. Confused seeing how they close at 6:00 PM on their website, the gentleman I spoke to informed me "It's a nice day outside, so we're closing early". Any business that chooses to have arbitrary hours in the event of a sunny day is unfortunate, and I'll choose to take my business elsewhere. read more

I have extremely thick and long hair. Its passes the derrière. Many say I'm blessed but it's actually quite the opposite in terms of maintenance. I don't go in for coloring because it would cost an entire paycheck so really I'm limited with what I can do and keep it natural. Most stylist hate to see me come in because it's a workout so I usually only make it in once a year. I wanted a trim, yes just a trim, and layers because the weight was giving me a drag look and pulling on my scalp. Stanley was the lucky stylist getting an extra morning workout. First struggle, he had trouble washing my hair because my hair was blocking the drain. Next, combing through such thick wavy long hair takes a while. He was concerned we couldn't layer because it requires constant combing and my hair kept locking up. Most stylist don't even try and tell me no but Stanley was willing to give it a go. The longest part cut was approximately 13 inches with 5 inches on the shortest for layers. I give the 4 stars because I returned with my daughter who has textured curly hair and the cut was quite horrible which ended us going to another place to get it fixed. It was a different stylist but I prefer honesty, tell me you can't or are not familiar. read more

Studio one twenty is the best place to get your hair done...its classy and laid back..they play music from back in the day when music was good...takes you back to the good days....they offer wine or other beverages...Marilyn is the BEST!! she makes you feel beautiful and truly listens to what you want! if there is something you are not happy with she is easy to talk to and will fix it in a heartbeat..she is down to earth and so sweet....she is up to speed on all the latest styles and products that are good for keeping your hair healthy...She has been doing my hair for the past 2 years...she's the best ask for her I promise you won't be disappointed! !! read more
