My daughter went here today and she asked for a burgundy color with a picture provided. When she was done it was orange and burnt where she looked like a clown. I called and spoke with a manager Kara and the owner and asked for a refund where I was told it was a beautiful service. I explained if it is not what was asked for and the customer is unhappy it is not a beautiful service. She had to go elsewhere and get it fixed. If you don't want this to happen to you don't go here. I love this place!! I had a really bad experience with another stylist after moving from out of state...she was late for my appt, took 3 haircuts while my color was processing and gave me an uneven haircut. I made an appt with Breque at Tangerine and he was able to fix my color and cut and it turned out great. I've been back to see him a 2nd time and just scheduled my 3rd appt with him. He is prompt and super fast at foiling and cutting...and does an awesome job. Oh and he's hilarious and! I'd highly recommend the salon!! read more

I went to go get my hair colored and Stacy Bush did an awesome job! I made a mistake by bringing my mom along knowing there is nothing you can do to please her. I did not pick the right shade of blonde and she was very upset. Instead of my mom taking her anger out on me she took it out on the stylist. For that I'm super sorry. Stacy kept her cool and handled the situation in a very professional manner. So my mom left the solon upset, but when i got home she looked at my hair then come to the conclusion that its not so bad after all. which really means it looks great.Next she was very nice and a great person to conversate with. This is the first hair stylist I really like and will go back to. So when I need anything done I will be going back to see Stacy Bush. I would also like to say the cashiers and the staff here overall were very friendly. I give my first experience 2 thumbs up. (: read more

$90 to get your roots colored. But they mislead you when you call and ask how much it will cost because they tell you $65. What they do not tell you, is they charge you extra ($25 extra) to wash the dye out of your hair and dry your hair before you leave. Really? When I asked why that pertinent information wasn't disclosed to me when I called, the answer I received was "the girl probably thought you knew they were separate costs" - Umm, why would I call to ask how much it cost if I already knew? I said, shouldn't washing dye out of my hair be included in the price, it's not like I can walk out of the salon with dye in my hair, so that should be disclosed when I call: $65 to dye your hair and $25 to wash it. WTF? They responded with the extra charge is for their 'time' - REALLY??? What about my time? I've spent more time trying to correct what they've screwed up. This place is a joke. $90 to get your roots dyed. That is absolutely INSANE! They are definitely not that good. This is also the 3rd time in a year i've had a bad experience with them. My regular stylist is awesome and deserves to work somewhere else that is more professional. She's in such high demand, I have to schedule out my appointments 3-6 months ahead of time. If I ever have to reschedule because something comes up in my schedule, I can't get any openings with her, so I've had to see other stylists. Other stylists have royally screwed up and i've been trying to fix and grow out what they've screwed up for the entire year I've been coming here. Lower tier, higher tier, it doesn't matter. I've paid a ton of money to this place and given them chance after chance. I only wish my stylist would leave so I didn't have to give this company any more of my money. If you want to be overcharged and take the chance on maybe or maybe not receiving good service (and not to mention the receptionist with a terrible attitude that must be somehow related to the owners because there's no way a business would tolerate such horrible customer service from anyone else), then this is the place for you! read more

I moved to Tennessee about a year ago and started the journey of finding a new hair stylist which can be hard and exhausting. My last two hair stylists one in Idaho (2yrs) and the other I just left in Colorado (2years) were both Aveda stylist. I loved their ability to cut hair with perfect technique and the products were perfect for my sensitive scalp. This is the back story. So I figured I would start with an Aveda concept salon, naturally. I went to Tangerine a year ago and the hair cut I received was not a blunt bob but very choppy and uneven. I went back and another stylist fixed it. About a half a year later I went to a different stylist all together at Tangerine and the hair cut was ok, nothing wrong with it, just not for me. Yes I'm picky and my standards are high. My next hair cut was once again with Tangerine and this time it was with one of the owners. I was excited I thought this will be like the best hair cut, but it was the worst. My hair was uneven on one side by over an inch! I didn't notice it until the next day because he didn't have time to style it, which for me is a flat iron with out it it's a big puff ball so you can't tell the structure of the cut with out it. I styled my hair the next day after the hair cut for my husbands Christmas party at this time I see how unbelievably uneven it was. I called to have it fixed and couldn't get an appointment for a week later. I then called the next day feeling so frustrated with my experience at Tangerine that I asked for a refund. The manager I spoke to said they would not be fixing my hair if I received a refund. I agreed and completed my current and any future business with this salon. My conclusion I shouldn't have given them so many chances, but I do feel a sense of closure knowing the manager of the salon was incapable of giving a decent hair cut. I have an expectation that Aveda concept salons have very well trained stylist. I don't think they follow and continue their training regularly nor was there any product knowledge. This is my experience and thought I would share it to save others time. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a salon. I went in there with a clear idea of what I wanted and brought pictures. I can not stop crying my hair is so horrid. I asked that she not cut off more than 4 inches and she cut off 6 in some areas, 7 in others and 8 in others. That is how uneven it is. She didn't do the cut I wanted but that may be because she wasn't capable. I've the cut done before and she used none of the same techniques. She spent the hour lecturing me how to care for my hair telling me that it was over processed with bleach and peroxide. I have black hair. I get compliments all the time on my amazing, long, soft hair. Not anymore its now gone. She was so busy lecturing me she didn't pay attention to what she was doing which was hacking off. When she wasn't lecturing me she was belittling me and then tinged the conversation with a wee bit of racism. Then again I didn't see anyone there who wasn't white. I felt like I got my hair styled by a mean girl from high school who misses her glory days as a bully. I will never see Katie (supposed "Mayor of Funtown" per their website) again. read more

Way over priced and my hair came out horrible. The cut wasn't close to what I showed her and asked for and the high lights were pretty awful, uneven, different colors (processing was clearly off). Definitely not worth all the money they charge. read more

I met Megan because I requested a bob from my other stylist and it was uneven. I work close to Tangerine and gave them a try. I liked Megan a lot. I scheduled a full highlight because my roots had significant growth. She said she was going to do a rooted highlight. I didn't know what that was and I said as long as my roots are covered. It looked good when I left. She offered no mirror and I didn't ask. When I got home and my 6'3 husband said, thought you were getting your roots done. He never says anything about my hair. Never. I went and got a mirror and was like oh my! Over $200 for highlight, trim, and tip. She forgot brows which was good because I had no idea it would be that expensive. So I lived with it for 2 weeks then made an appt for re do bc of roots were not done. I get there and I'm waiting. I finally ask someone how long she will be and she came right out. She said no one told her I was there. I took a mirror and said look. It's as dark as it was when I came in. I pulled up some pieces and said this is like 3 inches of root. She said "that was on purpose". I looked and said why?? She said it was some more modern way of doing highlights. I said this looks good straight on, but when I come in for roots done, it shouldn't look like this. She was sweet and said no problem. "A lot of folks can't get used to it and we add more blonde." I didn't say it but thought "then you should explain it better". I expected roots covered when I left. I said we forgot brows last time. Can I do those also. She said yes. So after I go to check out, STICKER SHOCK! 130 something! I asked cashier if that was correct and she said yes. I expected root touch up for free since she didn't fully explain I would be dark when I left the first time. I tipped fior her time and then I told myself I would not be back. So this sounds like a racket to me. They don't explain the new modern way leaves your roots dark and then you come back to have roots done (like you originally requested) and then they get another $100 out of you. Not cool. read more

I just went to Tangerine salon for the first time and was so impressed! The atmosphere was relaxed and everything was clean. The whole staff was sweet and helpful, even if they weren't my stylist. Melissa did an INCREDIBLE job on my blonde partial highlight; really took the time to make it even and perfectly toned. They just got a new customer for life. read more

I was excited to try Tangerine for the first time after moving to Murfreesboro from Michigan. My first appointment was a total disaster when I showed up to find out whoever I spoke with and booked my appointment with never actually put me in the system so I had no appointment. I was given a free sample of shampoo and my appointment was booked again and that was it. When I showed up the next time things were smoother. My stylist was friendly and kind but I wasn't sure about my haircut. I gave my stylist 3 tries and decided I just wasn't getting exactly what I asked for so I decided to find another salon. Between the mix up and crooked cuts I decided I would try my money elsewhere. Not to mention that for my first appointment mistake I was given $20 off my actual first appointment even though I was to receive that anyway because I already had a $20 off for first time customers coupon from their website. Now that I've lived here awhile I've met others who also gave this salon a try to just not have it work out. read more
