I'm very disappointed with the customer service at this Ulta location. I called multiple times throughout the day and no one answered the phone. This is extremely frustrating, especially when trying to get assistance regarding a purchase. For a store of this size, there should be adequate staffing to handle customer calls. Not being able to reach anyone reflects poorly on management and creates a negative experience for customers who need help. I hope management addresses this issue, as customers should not have to repeatedly call just to get basic assistance. When I finally got an associate to help, she responded in a noticeably rude tone and said, "It's sold out and it will never restock again, so you won't ever get it." I visited this salon for a balayage service and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The stylist who worked on my hair did not appear to have the necessary knowledge or skill for this type of color treatment. Rather than a natural, blended balayage, I ended up with an uneven, all-over color that turned out brassy and orange. The application process was poorly executed, and I was left sitting in the wash chair for an excessive amount of time. It was also evident that the stylist was unsure of how to properly apply the toner. To make matters worse, my hair was not styled at the end of the appointment--I left with damp, frizzy hair. Overall, I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience. If you're considering a balayage or any color service, I would suggest seeking a more experienced professional to avoid damage and disappointment. Amanda P is an incompetent idiot. read more

OK, I gave the benefit of the doubt and gave this salon one more try after many years away. I called asking for a senior stylist for an overall color for mid-length hair - a stylist with experience. They assigned me Grace, but upon talking with her at my appointment, she said she was a new graduate. I should have asked her first, because she was already in the process of coloring my hair. She did a "new" technique where she (said) she used a different developer on my roots and a different combination on the rest of my hair. As I am a brunette, the top of my head turned out orange, yes, orange. The rest of my hair was the proper color, but I was livid. She said she would fix it but did not have time and to come back. When I called the next day, they told me Grace had been fired. I asked to speak to a manager (Danielle) who said she would make it right by getting another styling to take care of me, but a new stylist nor Danielle ever called me back. Now I need to find someone else to try to trust to fix this mess. I will never again give them my business. read more

I've had nothing bug bad experiences at this location. I don't know why I keep giving them another chance. I walked in and a very tall female employee was helping another customer in the fragrance department so I was waiting my turn. Another female rep walked right past me, avoided eye contact then asked the person behind me if she could help. I was finally able to get her attention and she reluctantly offered assistance but then told me she couldn't help me any longer. I gave up on the fragrance and went to look for my skin care. The packaging had been changed so I was hoping at checkout they'd be able to clarify. The sane woman who had poorly attempted to help me with fragrance did even worse with the skin care. I left everything on the counter and went to Sephora and now have a new brand to work with. The Sephora rep was attentive from the moment I walked in. Something very lacking at that Joliet location. If I could give zero stars, I would. Lesson learned. read more

I went to the Joliet store to exchange some foundation for a different color. The associate on the floor helped me pick out a new shade but they did not have it in stock so she told me to let the cashier know and they could exchange the wrong color and order the correct color I needed. The cashier did not know how to do the exchange so we had to wait for Marissa to come to the register. Come to find out Marissa did not know how to do the 3xchange either. She said the price was different than what I paid and they could not override the online price. Her solution was I could come back at a later date and exchange the foundation. I live over 40 minutes away and don't come to Joliet often. She offered to see if another store had it I said I could do that myself and that there is not an Ulta within 45 minutes of me. I SPECIFICALLY went because of a coupon and a DELUXE size gift with purchase. After finally finding it with the freebie sign posted, I made my way to the front. It being Black Friday, one would think there would be a better than normal price. NOT! I only saw one item that matched the description of the freebie so I bought it with. After a very long wait in line I was told what I had was not what was free. I was also told they ran out a long time ago. (TAKE THE SIGN DOWN THEN). She offered another sample size in its place, but it was the size of my thumb and not the same brand. To top it off the coupon was apparently not good with that brand.It only stated in fine print it's not good on some prestige brands...so you have to wait until you get to the register to find that out. I went info the store 5/31/2024 store #1224 at 4:00pm to purchase a few items and to pick up my birthday gift. Unfortunately, i had the pleasure to deal with Marisa. She was such a treat. Keep in mind i have been purchasing items from ulta for years. Last year went to another location to receive my birthday gift and no issue. Immediately from entering the checkout line, I sensed hostility. The Cashier was waiting on another person before me in line. I was next and she walked away and started chatting with 2 other cashiers. Ignoring my daughter and i were standing there. Finally, she came back to the register to check me out. I handed her my item, entered in my phone number, and explained i also wanted to redeem my birthday gift. All of a sudden she started getting an attitude like I wasn't able to obtain this benefit as i have done so in the past ( naperville and wheaton ) without an issue. She started asking me for a coupon. I have never received a coupon before. She held up the line and had me dig in my emails for the offer. All while standing there with a smirk like i was lying. It wasn't there. I was annoyed from her energy and wanted to end my order and say forget. Then she said ok i will just redeem on my end, i can see the offer here. As , i walked out she had the nerve to look at me up and down with that same smirk. Because of Marisa i will never step foot back into Ulta again. This store gets Zero starts. read more

I brought my daughter in to get her hair done for prom. I had checked it out online, it stated a style appointment would be $30.00. We arrived for the appointment, my daughter showed the hairstylist a picture. She wanted a simple partially up do, with curls. The finished hair did NOT look anything like the picture for starters. The curling rod used was too big, therefore the curls were very loose. Her appointment was at 1:00 pm. By 5:00 pm, her hair was completely straight. Not to mention, the price was almost triple what it said it would be online. She did not wash, nor dry her hair, only curled and pulled back partially. I paid way too much money for something that I could have done better myself. She still went to the prom...just not as picture perfect as she had hoped to be. read more

**disregard my "previous review"....I wrote it up for the wrong business. This is the correct/intended review for Ulta** I don't know if it was because it was Friday or payday or the day before NYE, but it was slammed. Which, yay them. But it was crowded and due to the size of the store, and Ulta's need to cram every beauty product under the sun in, it was hard to navigate. The ladies doing people's make up were basically in the way- blocking access to items and aisles. Not their fault- it doesn't look like they have much of a choice. The store was not well kept. The shelves were a disaster, it doesn't look like the samples are checked on (multiple broken, missing, dirty testers). I had to pull a baby wipe out of my purse to clean off my hand/forearm because if the tissues etc are here they were more than likely inaccessible. I mean sure, part of that is the clientele being inconsiderate (FYI Joliet, this is why we can't have nice, pretty things. We don't take care of them when we are given them.). But it was excessive enough to leave me with the impression this wasn't a fluke or end result of a big sale or hectic holiday season/weekend. If it had not been because my mom had me, she would've walked out. She doesn't know much about make up and she said she would've been overwhelmed. Not one employee made contact with her (or me) on the floor. The line stretched to the back which is par for the course with any Ulta on the weekend. The two girls up front were trying their best to get everyone rung out as quickly as they could but phones were ringing off the hook. I heard one answer and I'm guessing the person was asking if they were hiring because she told them no not again til spring. Which is sad because they looked like they could use some help. The lady checking me out basically dismissed me when I told her I wasn't a rewards member and didn't want to sign up. Truth is I am but I don't shop Ulta enough to remember the info I gave them to look it up and frankly I was buying one thing and didn't want to feel like I was holding the line up by trying to remember which email/phone number blah blah blah. This experience was a reminder of why I prefer online/their competition. Maybe I'll try again on a weekday during the day? I'm not totally turned off but if I *NEED* to make a physical appearance in an Ulta I will seriously debate the geographical desirability of this one vs trekking to Bolingbrook for an overall better experience. read more

I spend a lot of money on make up as I am a make up artist so I get emails always and have my rewards app. Stopped in, excited because I had gotten a coupon for a free birthday surprise, only to get treated with attitude and dirty looks from the cashiers. SO unprofessional my sister and I were shocked. Safe to say I won't be coming here anymore. Hire better employees who know how to treat their customers. Stopped in for the first time today to pick up a gift card. The store is brand new so it's super nice and clean. I got in line to purchase the card but there was no clear direction of which way the line was forming so I sort of just stood there. The girl who checked me out was very friendly and signed me up for their rewards card. Plenty of parking as well. The store is a little on the small but it is very clean and well stocked. The employees on the floor were very attentive. I'm giving two stars because of the salon in the back of the store. It was my first time using their salon services. I wanted a haircut and burgundy hair dye. My hair came out a 3 different colors. My roots were bright red almost orange, my ends were a darker red, and the rest of my hair was my original color a dark brown. My haircut was uneven. Worst customer service ever! Went there today I was the only person in the store I counted six workers all of who were talking to each other in corners or on their phones. I looked through the cosmetics looked up the workers a few times wandered around. Not one person asked if they could help me. They looked at me a few times and just ignored me. I finally got upset and as I was about to walk out one of the assistants said may I help you? My answer was that's all right you seem really busy and obviously you don't have time to talk to me or to help me. Her answer was have a nice day. I asked a woman in the salon, who said the best person to help me was in the bathroom... 20 min later I sill didn't have any help. The customer service is poor. I have had multiple instances where employees seem completely disconnected and unbothered, but this instance was the cherry on top. I went into this location to purchase an item during their 21 days of beauty event. The item I wanted was sold out after only a few hours, so I asked the cashier, Michael, if I could place the order with him. For one, he didn't even seem interested to be working, let alone to help me. When I asked him if he could order the product for me, he looked at me like I had a third eye growing out of my head. He was completely disinterested and said a manager would have to do it. I assumed this is the point where he goes and gets someone to help him with the order... NOPE. I waited there for a couple minutes when I realized I was on my own. Michael just stood there with his arms crossed, a bad attitude, and a bored look on his face. I then went over and asked a woman named Becky for help (she was helpful and friendly). She immediately seemed interested in helping and asked what she could assist with. I told her the item I wished to order and she said "No problem, if you see Michael at the cashier, he can help you." I replied and said confused "He told me you would have to do it..." she looked just as confused and said any store employee could place the order. I went back up to the counter and waited for Michael, but thankfully Becky came over and said she would just go ahead and place the order. The computer was running slow and so she couldn't place the order, but she advised I go to my app and make the purchase there. She then gave me a free shipping code for my patience. I was appreciative of Becky's help, but the way Michael made me feel, as a customer, was unacceptable. read more

I made a gift purchase at the Joliet Ulta on Route 30 this past Wed. When I got home to wrap the gift, the Smashbox primer was not in the bag. I called the store, the reprentative (Isabelle) preceded to tell me I can come back in to speak to a MGR or I could hold as she spoke with one. I told her I would hold. She came back and said the MGR would have to review the tapes and get back to me tomorrow. She took down my info and said someone would call me on Wed. I never received a call back. I contacted the store today. They left me on hold for 7 mins then someone else returned to the phone stating they still needed to review the tapes and they would get back to me. Extremely frustrating as poor expectations were set in the beginning. In customer service, it's important that you follow through with what you say you're going to do and that did not happen. Now I have to wait even more to investigate the issue. I then received a call not even 5 mins later from the MGR Becca stating that they reviewed the video and the primer was put into the bag. Now I question the integrity of the store due to improper expectations set in the beginning. If the video could've been watched in 4-5 mins, why did it take 4 days and me reaching back out to the store for a resolve? I am an avid Ulta customer and very disappointed with the issue resolution service of this location. I don't feel like a valued customer at all and will gladly take my business elsewhere. read more

Lori Rogan a master skin therapist is amazing. She has helped my friend with her skin and does facials for her. My friends skin looks amazing. I went to see her after I saw my friends skin results " like the fountain of youth". I have horrible raised skin irritation on both of my hands on the top. Lori recommended Dermalogica ultra calming skin routine for my face and hands. I have rosacia. Noone could help me with my hand problem. I was told it may go away. 5 years and still have it. I took Lori Rogan 's advise and have used the skin routine for 6 weeks. My hands have had tremendous improvement! I hope it all goes away. It just might. Thank you Lori Rogan. read more
