Was looking for a new salon since I moved and wanted something close by. Was hoping this place would be my new home, but I was disappointed! I arrived 10 minutes early to my appointment and had to wait 25-30 minutes to start on my hair. I tried to start conversation with my hair lady, but she kind of shut me down and only wanted to focus on my hair so it was complete silence for pretty much the rest of the appointment. She was firm with the hairbrush, really going at it and catching my ears. She was kind of clumsy with her tools, dropping 3 different things on the floor during my appointment. My hair stylist, and the other two ladies all said something about my hair as they passed by saying, I had a lot of hair. They did this more throughout the appointment. ( my hair goes just past my collar bone and is naturally straight ). I did not go on my phone during the appointment, only when I was sitting alone and one of the ladies yelled at me across the room to look up. When my hair was getting washed, I was SUPER uncomfortable but tried to deal with it so I wouldn't annoy my stylist anymore than I felt like I already was. When my hair was completely wet, my stylist tugged at my hair from root to tips leaving the knots at the ends of my hair. She really pulled at my hair and I was in pain. They cut your hair when it is dry, not wet. I did like how my hair turned out and it looked really nice! When I came to pay, they charged me 2x the amount it said on their website plus I left a 20% tip ( because I did like how my hair turned out ). And now I have a bruise on the back of my head from when they washed my hair, I had my boyfriend look at it because it felt sore and he said it was black and blue. I'm in college, and I feel like a lot of their clients are 40+. I feel like I was treated like a kid and like "I didn't belong there" so they didn't waste their time making a good impression on me. I will not go back, I wish the customer service was better because I would of paid the double amount happily, but I don't feel like it is worth it to be treated that way. read more

This was the worst most traumatic Hair experience I've ever had. I went here to get my hair extensions moved up. I originally had them put in by a different salon, but this was a lot closer. I went in a few weeks prior. They looked at my hair, said they were able to it and I booked an appointment. They were wrong. Didn't specialize in the type of extensions I have. She still attempted to move them up. Ended up tieing both rows together. She also was supposed to touch up the few highlights I had and turned my hair completely orange. I went back the following day to have it all fixed. She ended up just covering the highlights with brown, then a few days later those pieces broke off from being over processed. The extensions were still put in wrong. They were pulling so bad that one of the beads along with a chunk of hair (my real hair) fell out. I obviously wasn't going back to have them mess it up more and made an appointment with my original salon. She took pictures of my scalp because not only did I have chunks of hair missing but my scalp was all red and irritated. This has been an absolute nightmare and the salon refuses to give me my money back. If I could leave 0 stars o would. read more

Mikayla did a great job with my hair color, cut & style. Friendly, but not overly obtrusive. Very reasonably priced. Appreciate finally finding a stylist that knows how to color close to root as opposed to leaving me with a half inch root I've walked out of other salons with. Recommend this salon! read more

Still my favorite place, still tell everyone to try it! All of the woman that walk out of there look beautiful and seriously, the prices are waaayy cheaper than most salons in the area. I decided to lighten up for summer after dying my hair dark or dark red for 10 years. Once again Taylor killed it. She did a blonde, balyage style, thin highlight throughout my hair and added layers and gave me a trim. She worked her magic on me and somehow made me have blonde in my hair again, and it's stunning! Thankful for the loft, give it a shot! read more

I have seen Cierra for highlights and cuts the past two years! I have been pleased with my color and services! Cierra is fabulous!

I had a really great experience with Karen as my stylist here at The Loft. I drive by here for work almost every day and was always curious. I finally booked an appointment. Karen listened to what I wanted- as I am not usually very adventurous with my hair- and recommended a color/style by how noticeable the change would be. I looked like myself, but better after she was finished. Most of you know that going to a new stylist can be hit or miss. Although, I felt like I was in good hands throughout the whole appointment. It is a quaint, cozy salon with a modern feel. Overall, I was very pleased with my hair after leaving and I will go back! read more

This was my first visit in and I love the way she took time in the consultation to really listen and understand the look I was going for. She is extremely knowledgeable and gives great input. I love my new hair and I'd go back again! read more

Great cut and style. Stylists -- Taylor and Kelly, are skilled, understand, care, and deliver!!!

Just received my first hair cut at the Loft. My stylist was Kelly and she was great!!! She listen to everything I telling her about my hair and what I was trying to do. The loft is a small quant intimate setting. I was anxious about taking a chance on a new place after my last groupon experience elsewhere....... Nick was awesome, beautiful work on my highlights and cut, a talented stylist! I'm still getting compliments;) read more

I love this little hair salon! It's almost impossible for me to find someone who knows what I'm asking for when I get my hair cut. Well, not anymore! I had a Groupon for this salon and I was scheduled with Kelly. I'm glad she took the time to go over what she was going to do for me since I'm always so afraid to cut length. She did an awesome job. I think I found my go-to place! read more

First time client. I saw a Groupon so decided to give it a try. I had a wonderful experience. The staff was fantastic, informative giving all my options and very outgoing. Time fly by; I left feeling like a new person with my new color and cut. I will definitely be back. read more

Yes! Go here! I've lived in Plainfield for 15 years. I have not been able to find a stylist that just gets how I like my hair. Taylor is awesome ~ perfect cut and color every time! And she is very personable too. My only complaint about The Loft is the harsh fluorescent lighting.... but Taylor turns her lights off for me without complaint and still manages a great haircut! read more

I had a Groupon for The Loft and was nervous about going somewhere new. I'm very picky about my hair plus I've had some bad experiences. The salon is very cute and welcoming. I prefer this type of personal feel over the big salons. I took in a few photos to show Kelly, and we discussed what would work with my hair texture and length. Kelly did an amazing job on my cut and highlights. My hair actually looked like the photos. I've received multiple compliments on my hair cut & color since my appointment. My mom even said she liked it, and that's rare! Kelly also recommended products but didn't push them on me. I purchased a product for when I want to wear my natural waves, and it's been great. Kelly also gave me tips on how to do the waves. I will definitely being going back to Kelly. Highly recommend her! read more

Have been a client of Karen since before she opened this adorable salon years ago. She is a gifted artist. She fixed a botched color job another salon did on me and I haven't looked back. Karen colors and cuts my hair and she always manages to keep things creative and different. She takes copious notes on colors that she uses to ensure you'll get the same results time and time again if you so desire. She is truly the best! And for those of you complaining about the prices, you're nuts. The prices here are more than reasonable, to say the least. read more

As a last minute decision, I went to The Loft in Downtown Plainfield. Boy, was I in for a treat! What a nice "homey " feeling business with a very pleasant staff. I was greeted as soon as I arrived and did not have to wait for my appointment. I received the best haircut and color I ever had. I am so pleased with my new look. Thanks, Nick! read more

Don't let the tiny exterior and small town fool you -- this salon is fantastic and you can get the cutting edge look you want with this super-talented staff of stylists. I found this salon initially because of a Groupon offer, and it has now become my salon of choice. Nick colored, cut and styled my hair the first time I visited, and I keep going back! He is the best! Give this salon a try if you're looking for a hairstyle that makes you look stunning! read more

I could not have been happier with my cut and highlight. Karrin did an incredible job and the color is EXACTLY how I wanted it. She surpassed my expectations. I was a little nervous initially just because I have had some bad experiences with Groupon in the past, but I have no complaints about this time. I will definitely be returning again! read more

I really like this place. They always do a great job. A little pricey but worth it.

I had my first hair cut and style at The Loft in Plainfield and could not be happier. I have tried several salons in the area and in addition to having a hard time getting in on short notice I found that often you are charge extra for things like a shampoo and style. I found the staff to be very accomadating as well as warm and welcoming. Price were better than competitive and Kelly did an excellent job! I would recommend to anyone who wants a great value, pleasant atmosphere with little pretention. Keep up the great work! read more

I used the Groupon for my first visit hair and My appointment was with Taylor. I got a cut, style and full highlights. She did an amazing job. I love my hair now, and I usually always hate my hair. It's curly and gets frizzy buts since the haircut, the curls hold better and my hair looks healthy. The color of the highlights complements my natural color so well. It was exactly what I asked for and I wasn't even that specific. She just knew what would work for my hair. I get a lot of compliments on my hair now. My husband is still telling me a week later how much he likes my hair. The salon itself is really cute and welcoming. I will definitely go back. read more

Nina has been doing my hair for well over 6 years. She listens to your wants and needs and is exceptional at what she does. She attends continuing education throughout the year to brush up on the hottest new looks and knows about all of the best products. She remembers every detail of my life and we pick up each time as if we just spoke yesterday. The salon is small and cozy and it is always clean. Nina is truly the best of the best. Thank you for making what I wear every day amazing every time! read more

Karen rocks! Not only did she give me the perfect haircut, she was extremely friendly and her prices are good! Highly recommend her, you won't be sorry. She also worked downtown at a prestigious salon for 10 years so she has a lot of experience and is a pro! Call her!! read more

I love this place. It is always clean and professional. I go to Nick for my haircuts but I know the other staff are just as good. Nick is wonderful. I have a sensitive head and I never notice his fingers as he washes or cuts. He gives me an easy to take care of professional cut. He is a very nice guy. The price is about average for this type of salon and I save up for my cut as it is the best I've ever had.I highly recommend this salon to others. read more
