A friend owned a salon near Chicago previously, so this would be my first experience with an unfamiliar wax artisan, yet having seen great reviews for Melanie, was confident. The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and inviting. Immediately greeted and quickly checked in - wonderful for a first-time guest - even more excited to find out in-state residents receive half-price their first full bikini (their term for Brazilian). By 4:15, the time of my appointment, I was notified Melanie was running a couple of minutes behind - loved the prompt notification - and by 4:17 Melanie was out greeting me. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law were willing to accompany me to try the new salon and so we purchased the groupons and scheduled our appointment. When we arrived, we were greeted nicely. The salon had a couple of artists, one whom I believed to be the owner. She was pleasant, welcoming, and friendly to us all. She enjoyed chatting, especially since we had our culture and background in common, which was a nice personal touch. Mamta, the owner, threaded my mother-in-laws eyebrows, while myself and my sister-in-law were threaded by the other artist. All of our eyebrows turned out the way we wanted, as both artists were willing to listen to our direction. Mamta added another special touch by showing my mother-in-law one of her eyebrows to ensure that she liked it before matching the other one. The prices were reasonable at the salon, even without the groupon. We will definitely return and I feel like I have a new threading salon at EK Threading! :)

I actually chose this salon because of the reviews I read here, and I'm SO glad I did!! I was changing my hair big time (it was down to the middle of my back, dead at least to my shoulders and I wanted to get it to blonde from the red it was *unnatural manic panic blood red*, and I knew how hard it was going to be to try and lift that color out without my hair turning completely orange) and I needed someone that would listen to what I wanted and do it RIGHT. Melissa is that person! I called on Thursday and spoke to Melissa, telling her all of this, and she made me an appointment for that Saturday afternoon and cleared her schedule for the rest of that day. She did her best to lift out the red, and she ended up bleaching out as much as she could, and in the end we decided to leave what was bleached and have light pink streaks throughout the rest of my hair, it turned out kinda like a reverse ombre, and I LOVE it!! I showed her a picture of how I wanted it cut, and she did it BETTER! I wanted it very short in the back, longer strands on the sides and cute side bangs in the front. Most salons boast that they are up to date on the latest cuts and styles when they definitely are not, all they know are layers and straight edges. Melissa understood exactly what I wanted, and the fact that certain cuts are SUPPOSED to be uneven, whether it be the back, sides, bangs etc. Now that I have found Jagged Edge, I will not go anywhere else, and will recommend this salon to everyone that I know! My manicure looked as if I had acrylics on and loved they were able to do an almond shape on them! I came back on Friday to get a full set done and Cindy did my nails. I usually get basic colors, but wanted to do something special this time and she rocked it! I was the only person in the salon, I know it is hard to find and get to, but definitely worth it!! Cindy was very nice and explained to me that some of her coworkers can't speak English well & is always ready to help them with customers if needed. I really love Michelle as a stylist, I had her do my hair 4-5 years ago and remembered her since…read morethen... but I couldn't remember her name. I was finally able to find her again through Diva's Facebook page and I'm so glad. I booked a haircut and full highlight, wanting to go back to my natural color so my hair could continue to grow and be healthy. I didn't realize I should have booked for a color correction, but Michelle moved her clients around to give more time to do my hair. I would have been more than understanding to reschedule, but thankful she was able to fit me in! One of the other ladies was amazing as well running to the store to get more product for my hair. It doesn't look like a huge change, but this was removing box color from my hair so it could better match my roots and a treatment to prevent damage. I am also not a huge talker and shy during appointments like this, but it didn't feel awkward at all and I had a chance to just enjoy being pampered and relax. Overall, I'm so grateful Michelle and the ladies were so accommodating and understanding with me. There wasn't frustration even for a split second. I will continue coming back to Michelle and recommending Diva's to everyone!
