I was forced to open a Rewards Member account for a simple lipstick return. What?? My husband previously bought a Drybar Blow Dryer for me here, he almost walked out because they didn't wanted to sell it without opening a Rewards Member account. He still bought it, didn't open an account. He hates this store. I get the whole fraud return situation etc., but don't be kidding me, data mining might be more important. In general I didn't like this place to begin with, because some of the sales people are incredibly pushy, trying to sell things that I didn't come in for. I'm not one to leave bad reviews. I e worked retail and customer service my whole life. I scheduled an appointment at the salon for a blowout. I'm in the area for wedding so I needed to plan accordingly. Scheduled for 1130. I got a call from the manager saying someone called out so could I come in at 1pm. I said yes. Absolutely. I understand when that happens. I get there on time and I'm told I'd have to wait another 40 minutes... I told the manager on the phone it's for a wedding and the girl who told me this as well. Nothing. Now I'm scrambling. I delayed getting ready sooner to work with their schedule and they didn't even have the courtesy to inform me about theirs. Unprofessional and extremely disheartening. I dont usual write negative reviews because everybody can have a bad day, but Im taking the time to write this as a warning to other and perhaps, avoid some grief to you. I was very disatidfy with the quality of the services but that's anothe history. I'm here today to warn you about the headaches that come with opening a credit card account with Ulta. The satff was eager for me to open an account because they will get some kind of bonus points, but i never aticioatred the problems I was going to have just by saying yet to that. 1. The service charge is higher than my high end cridt cards (Amex, etc). 2. Sent a payment from my bank account and they sent me back a check reimbursiming me the same amount that I had paid. The check came in an envelope without remitance address or a note from their bank/corporate office to explaining the reason of the refund. 3. I called customer services and they can't provide an explanation, but they were very quick to tell me that if i didnt pay over the phone, i was going to have to pay about the same amount of money in additional fees and service charges (after i have sent my timely payment). Is this what people call scam? It will be up to you to get an account but the truth is, there is nothing in Ulta that i can not get in Amazon and there is nothing that i can't pay with my regular cards. read more

My daughter got her ears pierced at Ulta in Exton by Kayla. My daughter was nervous and Kayla was fantastic! More so, Kayla followed up and offered a lot of support. This is a good place to spend $100 on four items in the matter of minutes. I got a gift card for Christmas so I convinced my friend to go on a spree with me. I was looking for a good facial cream to get rid of scarring. I found a lady in my section to give me a hand but she didn't give off the vibe of an expert. She recommended a resurfacing cream that I've been using for three weeks and have yet to see a result. I did go for a second opinion to the dermatologists there but of course she only recommended the most expensive product there. I guess at this point to find what I want I needed to see a professional because the products I purchased didn't have the advertised effect. I did walk away with an overpriced nail polish and makeup brush cleaner. Teeth whitening strips and biore strips. A hydro facial spray that I really like. And of course a Kylie lip kit. Afterall that, my $200 gift card was empty. read more

Ulta is my favorite beauty store since I got into cosmetics in middle school and the only reason I gave four stars was at no fault to them whatsoever. I love the staff especially at the salon and I've gotten several hair services from them of cuts and relaxers over the years. Kiah(elite stylist whose done my relaxers) Kelley (salon manager) and Amanda (stylist for my recent dye job) were amazing, but the one thing that got me was the product. If you have as sensitive skin as I do be weary of certain dyes especially darker ones that can carry more PPD, and other chemicals. Right after I had gotten my hair dyed there was a light rash on my scalp and I thought it would go away soon because I just thought it was my sensitivity but it progressively got worse. It spread to my face and throat and had to go to the ER due to anaphylaxis. If you have any reservations about your skin being too sensitive for a product PLEASE request a patch test and give it time to see how it reacts to you. This is solely a warning for the hair dye and not the business or stylists because I have the upmost respect for them and I hope that if they see this they know I love them and everything they do regardless of this reaction. read more

The management at this store need to be more consumer friendly. Manager refused to return an item saying it was final sale and represented that it was posted even though it was not posted in the area that I had selected the item and not posted on the day that I purchased. Even today when I went into the store, it was not printed on the receipt nor posted at the registers. This store is definitely buyer beware and they will not support you if there's an issue with the product. There are plenty of other options so I will take my business to Amazon, Sephora and directly to their product manufactures website. read more

This store's employees are very unreliable with the information they give you. I once signed up for a class at the counter, only to find out on the day of the class that it wasn't at 8am prior to the store opening as i had been told but it was a free makeup consultation sometime during that day. Another time I called for eyebrow shaping appointment and was told to come at 11:20, only to find out then that my time Slot was given away to somebody else. The manager needs to get the team more organized or better trained. read more

She made me feel at ease trying to figure out the right product for me, was super patient and friendly too, as I decided I needed to try a different product after she showed me the first one. I got the clear feeling she enjoys her job and was happy to help me and that made my shopping experience positive. She is truly a gem at that store for a customer experience and also has a ton of knowledge about the products. Today I went to this store w my daughter and the beauty consultant watched us walk in, watched us testing several foundation colors on our forearms and jawlines-no offer for help. Walked by us several times. Waited on 5 or 6 other people while my daughter and I tried primers, Foundations, highlighters. The Ulta salon location in Exton off Swedesford Road is the best kept secret in Chester County. The salon services and the customer service I receive each time I visit it truly top-notch. I followed my stylist Lataya to Ulta from her former shop and I have not been disappointed. Lataya is an excellent stylist and each time she does my hair, has it looking it's absolute best. Whether I get color and cut, a blowout or glaze and a rodset, I am beyond satisfied. read more

Wow...went in to find hair extensions to use in my hair for my wedding. The stylist showed me where they were, and I asked for clip-in, and a recommendation for color. (I've been to another place, and they had been able to match me with a solid color--not a blend. They just didn't have the right length.) First I told her my stylist said to get human hair...but she pointed me to a synthetic that can be curled, and didn't really listen when I was trying to say I'd prefer the human hair...which they had. She was showing me a color that was a blend (several different colors...similar to highlights), and I said, "This one looks like it's different colors-- I'm looking for one solid color, since my hair isn't highlighted." Her answer? "Well realistically your hair isn't one color." My response, "But my hair doesn't look like that (meaning what she was showing me)....would someone with my hair wear a blend?" (I mean...I don't know anything about this, so a legitimate question). Her response, "I was just opening this box to show it to you"...but said with the most RUDE delivery I have ever heard from a sales associate. Then (annoyed) she went on to say, "Didn't your stylist tell you where to go or what to get?" (I thought I'd been clear I wanted human hair...a solid color...which they did have...) I have never written a Yelp review before but after my experience here I felt extremely inclined to express my disappointment. Not with the products but with the customer service.I had purchased over a hundred dollars worth of merchandise most of which being a certain product that was offering samples upon purchase. Initially they had forgotten to give me my samples so I returned because I was very interested in the specific product samplings they were advertising. The lady at the register took a large box out full of the specific brand and gave me samples but not the specific sample that was being advertised. After realizing this I returned with a perfume I wanted to purchase and my samples and was met with a different employee. When I asked about the specific samples advertised she said seemingly annoyed and inconvenienced "I don't think we have that". I then asked if she could check and she quickly opened up and closed the sample product cabinetry without actually looking or taking out any boxes and just said "I don't think we have it" and then preceded to check out my perfume. After having observed the large box very full of the specific brand samples that the prior employee had brought out,I thought that maybe they would consider taking the time to double check for me. I even went so far as to offer to check the box myself... But what seemed like a manager who was observing the situation said, "we can't let you do that". In reality I was just hoping that my offer would prompt them to actually take the time to look for me... But sadly that was not the case. Mind you there was no one else in line at this time, so my inquiry was not at the time expense of any other costumer.It was very apparent they did not want to, nor were they going to help me. So I took my purchase and left. I have frequented this Ulta for many years and have spent quite a lot of money. I left feeling pretty bad. I felt like I had annoyed and inconvenienced the employees simply by asking them to check something for me. As much as I love the products that this Ulta has to offer and it's convenient location I think I'm going to make the trek to the KOP Sephora from now on. read more
