Called and made haircut appointments for two children. Arrived a few minutes early. One person cutting hair. Waited waaaay too long and we weren't addressed about a longer wait. Sad service. We left after 40 minutes. Very poor customer service. Do not go here to get your hair cut! read more

Way too many staff walking around while one person working the register. And very slow - the person in front of me had lots of questions. Other staff walking through the counter area could see the line building up but walked away. This seems to be the norm! read more

I went to return some items & I felt welcomed from the moment I walked in until I left. The store was bright, organized, and full of so many types of products. You would be in Heaven here if you like hair, makeup, perfume, etc. The products I went to purchase in place of the ones I returned were SO EXPENSIVE. It was the Curlsmith line. I never used it, but I wanted to give it a try. I like the fact that they don't have an issue with you returning items, but I DO have an issue with their whack coupons. As much as you spend on there, they should give more than $5 off of $15. I guess I shouldn't complain much because it could be $0, but come on Ulta. I can't want to go back and see how much more money I can spend next time. Lol. read more

Looking for a professional hair stylist / color corrections expert. Not Ulta Beauty. I have been very quiet over this experience but my patience has run out. I consulted with them and expressed that I wanted to go lighter so that as my gray grew out it wouldn't stand out against dark brown hair as bad. We picked a color and a date. 6 hours I sat in a chair to walk out almost in tears looking like my hair had been colored months before with new growth. First, the color I picked...they didn't have in stock when I showed up for the appt. I was traveling out of state just days after the appt, they knew this as well. Picked another color, never did I want to look gray or blonde when I was finished. I wanted a light golden brown. They knew I wasn't happy and said when I returned I could come in for a color correction. Today I went in for the discussion to be gaslight by ... you have hair growth. Not 3 inches....to you didn't ask for an all over...to it will cost you additional money. Who ... just who gets a color job that looks like it was done 4 months ago? Anywho.....I've learned my lesson and never ever ever will they touch me again so looking for references from people who love their stylist! Here are pictures of what they did to me...notice the blobs of dark color in the last side pic. Told me that I would seem happier with box dye...well, I've done box dye for years and never looked this bad so they may have a point. If I save one person from a botch job job then this post was totally worth it. read more

I had my eyebrows laminated at the benefit bar by Nicole. She did amazing! I'll def be back in 8 weeks for my next lamination.

Bottom picture was my inspiration picture and the top picture is how my hair now looks. Reached out to stylist after 12 hours because it just did not grow on me. She said it was her mistake and miscommunication for me to come in the next day for her to fix it. 6 hours later I get a message from the stylist that one manager says it's free and the another manager says it is not, so now it isn't free, it's $50 I need to pay for her to fix her mistake. She tells me to call the salon to talk to the manager on duty. I go to the store instead and I'm told repeatedly that it is not free but they will take 10% off of the $50 service. The manager that made the decision isn't available to tell me why she came to the conclusion that I need to pay to fix the stylist mistake nor did anyone reach out to me at all to talk to me about it. Before I leave I tell the "manager on duty" to book the appointment with the stylist for tomorrow because she said the stylist doesn't work tomorrow and nothing was booked. I offered to provide photos and messages between stylist they did not want them so the "manager on duty" could talk to the manager that made the decision and the other manager and I would be back at 10am when they open because my appointment would be at 11, that should be enough time to resolve this. I leave thinking this is not resolved. I sit on it and it bothers me so I reach out to stylist again and about 4 hours after having visited the store and leaving, which at this point I haven't heard from the stylist since she said it's not free and I can talk to manager on duty. I reach out to her expressing my concerns about how it was being handled and what happened in the store when I went up there to talk to the "manager on duty" she then flips the script and says that she went up to the salon after I left and sorted it out and they determined it was a miscommunication and that she would do it for free but since I already booked the appointment for tomorrow THEY DID NOT FEEL THE NEED TO CALL AND TELL ME THIS. Back track to being in the store, While I am there one stylist is honesty shocked at how my hair looked, as I'm walking out and leaving exiting away from the salon but still within ear range says "why would she do that". There was not a single person in there that agreed they would be okay with paying for their hair to be like this and would not walk around like this. At this point I do not trust anyone at that salon to even touch my hair to be able to fix it. I provided everything that a stylist would need, I informed her of the integrity of my hair and that the last time I did anything to my hair was a year and a half ago and I told her what was done to it so she knew what she walks working with, I provided an inspiration picture and talked it through with her to make sure it was accomplishable. This is the absolute worst experience ever and now I am stuck with hair that I hate because I do not trust anyone there to touch my hair because of how this entire situation was handled. I am so disappointed. I will never be back, I will never even come in to buy my makeup or skincare anymore. I am completely done. This doesn't even deserve a 1 star review. read more

This 5-star review is about the makeup artist of Ulta named Van: I went in to this store to set up an appointment for a 60 minute makeup trial for a ball I was attending the next day and I was given a slot immediately. That made me really happy because I was nervous about if there was a spot open at such short notice, and there were two at the time I went in. I was immediately greeted by a lovely woman with blonde hair (but I didn't catch her name, sorry!) and my makeup artist was Van. I recommend asking for Van when you go in to make a makeup appointment, especially if it's for a formal function because he's funny and sweet and I didn't feel judged at all for not knowing a thing about makeup. read more

I went in for a cut & color today for the first time at this location. The girl gives me a print out of what my services will cost: $195. Since that is $70 more than I pay every 2 months at the Ulta in Short Pump, I said "No thanks, I'm leaving". The gal glared at me and said she scheduled her day around this appt. I said "so did I!" She said "You are rude!" And started to stomp away. I told her what she was acting like and left. I have shopped at Ulta for MANY years and I will NEVER be back to this read more

This was my first time trying Ulta's Salon and it will be my last. I was sent a link to make an appointment online but the system wouldn't allow me to finish making any appointments so I called into the Chester location to make my appointment. My appointment was made but the day before I am called by the stylist to inform me that she cannot see me tomorrow but can schedule me for a later date. I cannot make this date as I am leaving out of town in a few days so she books me with a different stylist for later today. I arrive a few minutes early to check in and am told the stylist is finishing up at her station so it will be a few minutes. I wait for 15+ minutes before someone else asks me if I would like to take a seat as the stylist will be another 30 minutes. I let her know that I am leaving as 45 minutes later than my appointment time is unacceptable and inconsiderate of my time. I have never had a bad experience at Ulta until now but will never try to use their salon services again in the future. read more

I showed up on time for my appointment and was not acknowledged by anyone for 20 minutes. Finally got started, my makeup artist talked to the artist next to her the entire time and made no attempt to talk to me. Did not listen to customer request, overall just a horrible experience. Would not recommend getting makeup done for a special occasion here. My eyelashes were not put on properly, falling off my eyes, when I asked her to fix it she insisted they were okay. About an hour later, the lashes had fallen off and I had to fix them myself. Ridiculous !!! read more
