I am a regular Glow Med Spa customer, but normally go to the Short Pump location. Although getting on the calendar can be a challenge sometimes, it is all worth it and the stress of that goes away once your there. I went to this location on my birthday as a treat to myself as I do every year on my birthday and this year I not only tried a new location, I also added on a facial. My swedish massage was with Jalisa, she did a great job, was very nice to chat with and had my body feeling relaxed after. She worked on my problem areas that needed attention. (I really wanted a deep tissue, but with all the confusion of my appointment that got lost in translation) The highlight of this visit was the facial. This was my first time and Jane has made me want to come back more regularly to get one. It was awesome. Jane gave me great tips on facial care and how to maintain my skin. read more

Had an uncomfortable experience here with a waxing technician who berated and interrogated me during my session. They were incredibly nice in the beginning, which turned out to be a superficial facade as they nearly brought me to tears and had me feeling unsafe as they continued to judge how I handle my body and hair. I pretended to be okay and did my best to keep my voice even as they continued to pepper me with questions lest they get even more frustrated with me (all I did was show up to my session on time). I do not know if this unfortunate service was a result of a busy day or a longer session with me that the technician found to be an affront, but their behavior was unacceptable. As this occurred months ago and the service performed came out fine, it took me some time to process what exactly happened and if it deserved to be told. I can also no longer remember the technician's name (I have a vague inclination it was Tiffany, though I cannot be sure as I've done by best to have that stain of a memory remain in the past). Still, I do remember how she made me feel to this day and I hope this establishment speaks to their staff that clients deal with their body hair differently and in deeply personal ways. They do not deserve to feel unsafe and judged. I have been frequenting the Glow Med Spa in Carytown and never had a problem in any of my sessions with the 3+ technicians there that I have had the chance to meet and talk to. I won't ever return to this location. I encourage anyone who may be thinking of booking an appointment here to be wary and to perhaps look into their sister branches instead. I don't usually write reviews, but after moving from Richmond to Michigan and trying to find my new go-to spots, I realized just how lucky I was to have found Glow Med Spa. They seriously set the bar high. I was a regular at Glow for about four years before I moved. My first visit was for a laser consultation--my fifth one, actually--but Glow was the only place that really took the time to explain everything and make me feel comfortable. As an Indian woman, I have to be extra careful with my skin since I scar easily, and I'd had some bad experiences at other places in Richmond. Shia was amazing--she took her time, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt confident in the process. I could tell right away she knew what she was doing. Since then, Shia and Anna have been my go-to providers, but I've also worked with a few of the other girls and they've all been fantastic. Everyone is professional, kind, and super knowledgeable. I ended up doing full-body laser hair removal, and when the time was right, we started anti-aging treatments on my face. The difference in my skin is unbelievable--so much of the scarring I had from other places has faded, and I feel so much more confident now. Now that I've moved, I really miss the care and quality I got at Glow. Nothing compares. I still have family in Richmond, so I plan to book appointments whenever I'm in town. I love visiting Glow Med Spa! It is such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere from the moment you walk in until the moment that you leave. I had my brows waxed by Elizabeth and she did a great job. I'm so pleased with how they turned out and my experience with her was great. She was so friendly and I enjoyed chatting with her as my service was done. My wax was basically painless and my skin recovered quickly. At the place I used to go to, I would often end up with raw, red skin and bruising around my brows after waxing, so I was pleased that Elizabeth was so skilled at what she does so I could meet my dad for dinner after without being embarrassed by red, swollen skin. She is amazing! Booking an appointment was easy to do and they have several locations around Richmond. All of the staff are polite and professional. The services are high quality, and very reasonably priced. My brow wax cost less than half of what I used to pay at Benefit Brow Bar! I have now had two massages with Biff and they were both incredible!!! She has such a skilled knowledge of the body and it's mechanics. She was able to explain why certain muscles were so tight and why other muscles are compensated for them. Went back again today to Glow! This time I was helped by several people. I was actually coming for another procedure but unexpectedly had some extra time. The wonderful young lady at the front desk checked me in and offered water or wine. The environment here is pristine and so relaxing. Anna was my esthetician today and she is some kind of magical skin specialist! She performed an excellent and extraordinary Brazilian for me and also completed Dermaplaning on my face. She gave me special instructions on how to care for my skin and expertly evacuated some blemishes that I had. I cannot express how impressed I am by her technique. And so reasonably priced! I couldn't believe it! I've already made two follow up appointments with her. My husband comes to this location for deep tissue massage with Biff and it has been life changing for him. Overcharging for services I never had. I have been told "Heather" will call me. Not sure if she exists since I cant locate her and my phone isn't ringing. The best part was, they told me that the fee would be waived since this was my first missed appointment. Then I'm told just kidding as they double charge me for services I have never had. AVOID this place at all cost. They just suck at customer service and basic math or they need my money more than I do. Either way they aren't focused on a customer experience. UPDATE: I spoke with Heather, Director the spa. About as rude as she can be with zero customer service skills. Lacks in general people skills. Last words from her mouth, "I will refund you the full amount". Heather is a liar as she refunded half of the charge and didn't do what she said she would do. Clearly they need my $25 dollars so bad that that are willing to turn customers away for so little money. It's shame as these events are opportunities for Glow Med to what is right for their client and earn a client for life that speaks highly of you. You decided to go the other direction and we will chose another spa in the area. Just a recap; Glow Med overcharged me for services I have never had. Dana stated that the missed appt fee would be waived out of good faith and it was the first occurrence. I could understand the charge if I were a repeat offender. Then I'm told "Heather" would call. That took days for her to call and say, "just kidding. We are going to over charge you so forget what Dana said". I have been going to Glow Med Spa for several years (Lakeside, then Cary St. and now Westchester location). Overall, I had been really satisfied with the services I have received over the years until recently with the Westchester location. I couldn't wait until this location opened because I got married and moved out to Midlothian and it's minutes away from our home. From the beginning, there were a few things that were off with the customer service at the front desk. For Mother's Day (close to the time when they first opened this location), I received a gift certificate for the Float Pod Therapy. When I redeemed my gift card, the receptionist made it seem like she was doing me a favor to uphold the certificate because it 'was their promotional price' like I knew anything about that?! After that I tried to move forward bc of my past experience with them and had monthly facials with Anna who was/is great and the only reason I gave this 2 stars instead on 1. I had the VIPeel plus done over the Christmas holiday and the front staff charged me incorrectly so they called that day and I authorized additional payment. I never heard anything else from them. When I presented for my next facial at the end of January, the receptionist put me in for another VIPeel!! Why would I have another one within 1 month?? I had to reschedule my facial because it wasn't enough time to do it but they didn't have another appointment for weeks later. When they called to confirm my appointment this past week, I was informed that I am on a restricted list because they never charged the additional payment (for a mistake they made) in December using the card I used that day. The card on file had expired (back in Sept) but I had no idea bc they didn't call back to inform me of that. I was confused why I was on a restricted status bc of their mistake and lack of follow up?! I expressed this to the person I spoke with and she had a very accusatory tone as if I did something wrong. The front staff has never taken any ownership for the several mistakes they had made over this past year, especially that one, and the receptionist (who informed me she was the manager) continued to go back and forth with me about the outstanding balance (which I definitely had no problem paying back in Dec.) instead of apologizing about the misunderstanding and trying to move forward. I was so annoyed, I gave her an updated card and cancelled my upcoming appointment. There are too many spa options out there to subject myself to bad customer service. I had been seeing another aesthetician for over a year for issues with redness and breakouts who did not resolve any of my issues and did extractions every time I went...it was very painful and discouraging. Well, I ended up at Glow at first to buy the Jane Iredale foundation I wear but I got into a conversation with the staff and ended up booking an appointment with Shia. When I arrived I was greeted with a glass of wine while I waited. The reception area is very serene and calming. My wait wasn't long and then I was swept away to my room. I noticed on the way, there was another "waiting area" that was beautiful! Relaxation and pampering is definitely the vibe here. The room I was in for my treatment was amazing! A nice warm table with a gorgeous chandelier and entrancing displays on the ceiling. The lighting was low and the music was very calming and soothing. I felt as thought I was melting into the table as all of my cares washed away. My appointment was with Shia - the absolute guru in skincare. She examined my skin and pointed out things the other aesthetician had never mentioned to me before. I knew right then I had come to the right place and was in the right hands. Shia took the time to explain everything to me regarding my skin and what was happening at a cellular level and about products to use. I was blown away. I purchased the cleanser and some serums that she recommended and I have not had a breakout since I have been seeing her and have not needed any extractions. I have visited Glow Med Spa twice and really liked the two aestheticIans that performed my peels. I scheduled a third appointment a couple of days ago for today. I received a call yesterday asking to move my appointment to accommodate the aesthetician which I obliged. My appointment was moved from 10:30 to 11:20. Well this morning my husband receives a call to come in for mandatory overtime due to a staffing shortage resulting from Covid cases/exposures which required him to report to work at 12 PM which means he had to leave our home by 11:30. I live 40 minutes away from Glow Med Spa and due to our children being out of school because of the anticipated inclement weather, I requested to reschedule my appointment being that I could not leave my kids who are 3, 6, and 8 home alone or in a car waiting for me to get a facial. I was told that I could reschedule but would have to pay a missed appointment fee of $47.50. So I asked the front desk rep would they be willing to waive the fee under the circumstances and her response was the owner typically does not waive fees. So I told her not to worry about rescheduling and I would call back later to take care of the fee. I called back several minutes later to do just that and a different young lady answered the phone and I told her I needed to pay the cancellation/missed appointment fee which was $47.50. I took care of the payment and asked to be removed from the email list. Done. At least that's what I thought. I then received a call back with a voicemail stating that they had undercharged me for the missed appointment fee lol. Wow. Petty. My plan was to originally get at least 3-4 peels from Glow Med Spa leading up to an event I will be attending in the next few months totally $500-600. I guess my little $47.50 was another casualty of Covid but hey it is what it is. Well actually $87.50 according to the voicemail I later receive. I said all that to say..... rain, sleet, hail, snow, ice or Covid, if you have an appointment with Glow Med Spa, you better be there because they do not care what life throws at you, you will have to pay. read more

I've been getting a Brazilian Wax for quite some time now & I recently tried out Glow Med Spa for the first time. I usually go to bombshell but I wanted a change & something a little more budget friendly. First off, the location is sooo beautiful & aesthetically pleasing. You get such a calm/relaxing feeling as soon you as you walk in, so job well done on that! The customer service was awesome, the staff were super friendly. The Brazilian wax itself was great, she got all the hairs out & made sure not to leave anything behind which I appreciated. She didn't make much conversation though, which is the only thing I will say could've been better. Luckily, I've gotten a Brazilian wax done many times prior, so I didn't need the distraction as much but for others it might be different. I think it's important to keep the conversation going throughout the whole thing because it takes the clients mind off of the pain. Facility was clean, friendly staff. I did the salt float pod and it's was..ok. I know relaxation is all a state of mind but I had a hard time getting n the zone. There was a button n the pod for music..assuming spa music but I pushed it several times and nothing happened. I feel like if the music had been working maybe I could have relaxed more. After I was done I showered and there was soap and lotion provided which is def needed considering the salt content lol and hair dryer but no comb..so I walked out of there in a matted messy bun. The last flaw/potential dangerous IMO aspect of the entire experience was When checking in..I was instructed to write my credit card number on a sticky note. When I asked about it after I was told "it's all n our policy for when ppl cancel they r charged a fee ...etc" I totally get puttin a card on file..super common not big..but I wrote my CC info on a sticky note..when I asked her how they insuranced my info didn't get into "the wrong hands" she look baffled. So I asked if they shredded it or put it n the regular trash. She said regular trash which was my fear. I explained I was concerned someone could get my info out of their garbage..again she looked as if tht was impossible. I asked if I could have my sticky and she looked annoyed and said ok and riffed through her trash can with who knows how many other sticky notes a that contained CC info and then gave it over. So I guess I'd recommend Glow Spa but just make sure u get ur sticky back and bring a hair brush lol. I'll be watching my bank account for fraud for sure. read more
