i booked a consultation with andi and she was absolutely the sweetest and such an easygoing person, i want my blonde to go up right next to my roots instead of being an ombre. im usually super afraid to go to salons because im anxious about the stylists being judgmental on the damage done on my hair before. andi was so sweet and took care of me so well, she was so considerate about the little things like not getting water into my ears at all and she was just the sweetest, not a single stylist judged me too. the actual treatment pricing was unexpected as andi and i originally anticipated it would be roughly around $250's range for my service and that was my budget. it was unexpected as there was a color band and color correction was needed but the owner (kelly) assisted with andi the next day for me and helped me out with pricing options, maintaining the integrity of my hair, and getting my ideal look. the owner was amazing and super considerate with my financial situation. 1213 is amazing, they put customers first and they go above and beyond to make sure you leave with the hair you want. the salon is cute and chic, super super friendly and everyone is amazing. (my final hair look does not look like the inspiration picture as toner was added!! dont be scared of toner!)

Melanie is the best! I have moved a lot in the past decade (which means I've had beaucoup hair stylists) and I don't think I've ever had someone as talented work on my baby fine hair. I love my hair! The cut and the color that she has done on me is just perfection. I've done both balayage and foil high lights with her and she slays. Besides her talent, she is also super easy to talk to. I get the sense that she is genuine and authentic - definitely someone who is down to earth and completely relatable. The salon is always clean and calming.

Today is my second visit to 1213. When I first moved back to Richmond, Lauren came highly recommended so I eagerly visited. The venue is great, clean and has good parking for the fan (see receptionist inside to get a pass to put on your car and park in the back). Lauren was so wonderful and personable and gave me a great color. She also allowed me to Venmo her for tip (cash alternative for prior reviews discussing cash only). However, my reason for not coming back in nearly a year is due to the prices. I lived in DC for two years and my stylist at an Aveda in Georgetown charged less than here. Today I am back and visiting with Courtney. The salon lived up to its previous standards and she was just as sweet and wonderful as Lauren. I gave her about twelve requests with no real direction and Courtney managed to give me exactly what I wanted for a great price. Once again, I was able to tip with Venmo. I absolutely will be coming back for my next color.

what lindy left me with, never felt uglier in my life

I love 1213 Hair Studio and I really do wish I had a better experience at the salon. I came in for a cut with Lindy and left devastated. Knowing she was a newer stylist, I didn't have terribly high expectations but I hoped for more because she worked at 1213, where they always do a fantastic job. I came in with a full head of long hair (image attached) and asked for layers with a short face framing piece (images attached). I understand she is a new stylist, but I would have appreciated a bit of honesty and discretion when it came to her level of experience. I showed her the pictures and she seemed positive she could get it done, but at the end it was obvious it wasn't anywhere near what I wanted. I wouldn't have minded her telling me at the beginning of the session that she couldn't do it and I would've happily scheduled with someone else, but instead I was met with a terrible cut at the end. I asked for a short face framing pice (which is what i got) but also got a layer going around my head the same length... basically a mullet. The rest of my hair was cut from that piece that at the most drastic angle ever. I knew something was off, but she said it was the way she styled the air that made it look the way it did. She attempted to fix it while i was there, but there was really no going back. When i only intended to get my layers freshened up and preserve as much length as I could, I left with about four inches cut from the front, a mushroom bob and uneven, i blended layers. I went home and tried to style it myself trying to give her the benefit of the doubt but felt so defeated at the end. Thankfully, Joy was able to see me today to "fix" the haircut, which i really appreciated. She mentioned taking a picture for educational purposes and I really hope it's useful. I appreciated that the salons had a "call us if you don't like it" policy, but feel so so devastated that I lost so much hair. I was told I had intimidating hair (thick and a lot of hair) which is upsetting because i left with the opposite. Joy had to thin out my hair from all angles which in turn cut down so much volume on the bottom and about four inches around my hair. As much as I appreciate the willingness to fix my hair, I wish i could receive a refund. My hair is no where near what I wanted and is a complete change to what I had before. My hair is so important to me as I tried to grow it out and take the best possible care of of to get it cut and dyed, but I'm left with no dye and missing half of my hair.

Went here for the first time thanks to Instagram!! I follow several health/food ladies and they all get their hair done here. I decided I wanted to try something completely different and go blonde and of course I decided to go to a professional as I've never had my hair blonde before. I was actually able to snag a last minute appointment due to a cancellation which was awesome as my schedule is a bit all over the place at the moment. When I walked in I was greeted by Lauren and she asked me what I wanted. I asked her advice on if blonde would even look good with my skin (cause let's be real a lot of people can't or shouldn't pull it off) and she was super knowledgeable in telling me certain blonde shades wouldn't work but a middle of the line one would. And so it was decided. She was super easy to talk to during a long appointment and I could tell she was a pro at balayage because she made it look easy (and it's not). Fast forward a couple hours and I LOVE MY HAIR!!!! It looks sooooooo good!!! Thank you so much Lauren!

This is such a fun salon! Everyone is friendly, and they have the sweetest little pup (Patty) greeting clients. The space is beautiful, but still comfortable. I couldn't get a pic of the lighting fixtures, but they are really interesting pieces. Kelly (the owner) gives fabulous cuts and is also a master with color and extensions. She teaches coloring classes all over the country, so she absolutely knows what she's doing, and her staff also gets regular professional development. If you get color, this is the place for it! I've only seen Kelly, but I hear great things from my mom and friends about all the stylists at 1213.

I got the most gorgeous color done by Lauren, I'm brand new to RVA and I'm so glad I found her as my new hairdresser! The salon itself is gorgeous and everyone there is super nice! It's the best experience I've ever had at a hair salon!!

Cancer Patient Refused $500 Refund - Poorly Done Microblading…read more I am a recently diagnosed cancer patient that was seeking to get my eyebrows microbladed. I went to Maria @mariialash for microblading/"nano brows". Her price for this service is $500. I wanted to get this done prior to starting chemo so I could still have natural-looking brows during treatment. Unfortunately, 100% of the pigment that Maria put on my eyebrows fell out, despite following her care instructions. I informed her of this and sent a photo of my plain brows, stating that I am starting treatment any minute and will be unable to do anything that may compromise my immune system such as getting a tattoo, for at least the next year. At this time I requested a refund. She has refused to disperse a refund stating that her disclaimers her clients sign state this could happen. A flimsy "disclaimer" does not excuse a business from providing good service and exercising good judgement. I do not recommend trusting Maria with your money nor your brows.

Since I've been seeing Charles at Hair, numerous friends and family members have asked where I'm getting my hair done because it looks so much better than it had - many of them now also go to Hair. Charles, Crys and Caitlyn treat their customers like family and are always so welcoming! My mother has Alzheimer's and they are so, so kind to her there - she is always excited to go see them, and that is a rarity.

She takes the time to build a relationship with me that has really helped bring everything I have wanted to my hair be more. And trust, we've done it all, black, blonde, silver, brown, highlights, keratin, you name it, and Leanza has done it. I've also really appreciated the staff at Hair, I've talked to many of the other stylists and have always had a positive experience. The salon is always clean, and comfortable, and I've never had any issue. The prices are also super reasonable and I love the products they use! I have since moved to Hampton and still come back to Richmond for Leanza to do my hair and don't plan on stopping anytime soon!

I really appreciated how prompt they were about my appointment time. All their products were bumble & bumble and it smelled fantastic. Michael, my stylist is extremely friendly and a great conversationalist. He's very communicative and knowledgeable about hair, hair color, and extensions. He made me feel very welcome and gave me great advice and suggestions on my hair. I had a lot of breakage from years of bleaching and he did a great job blending my damaged ends into layers. He also really listened to what I wanted and made sure to communicate every step of the way. Not to mention, I received one of the best head massages for my added hair treatment! Anyway, he finished, washed (very very hot water ouch) and blow dried my hair (it also burned quite a bit. But I am not the type to complain unfortunately so I kept my mouth shut) Anyway I was happy up until I finally saw my hair. I mean I smiled but inside I was pretty sad. I went home, my boyfriend was like what happened to your hair I said what do you mean? It's fine.(didn't think it was THAT bad, notenough for my boyfriend who never notices anything to notice) I take a closer look in the mirror, the color is uneven and my hair cut is crooked / uneven. Random long strands etc. No biggie. Right? I'll just go in and have it fixed. So I call make an appointment to fix it and go in. He apologizes and takes a few minutes to fix it. Although it's better than before it's still not what you'd expect after paying $250+. Been wearing it in a pony ever since waiting for it to grow back. :( I'm giving an extra star because everyone was very nice and the salon itself is super cute.

When I arrived home from my first appointment with Nikki, my husband exclaimed "You look beautiful!" I found Nikki's name in a blog article about the best blonde hair in RVA. Not only is she great with color, but great with cuts as well. Plus, she is so personable, I really enjoyed chatting with her as well. Cool space as well. I love the vibe and the art at Immortal Beloved RVA. It's always been top-notch until recently. Now, when I've gone in, they have a dog at the shampoo bowl and that's happened a couple of times. I asked them to not schedule me with the dog, since I'm allergic. I thought it was one of the customers therapy dogs at first. Now, I'm starting to think maybe it was one of the owners. That wouldn't be so bad if I was able to continue with the appointment that I scheduled. I tried to reschedule it because my car was in the shop and wasn't ready yet. I called on a Monday thinking that would be fine and just reschedule. Unfortunately, they weren't open on Monday I found out. I was still getting a text saying that I had an appointment Tuesday. So, I was able to borrow my husband's car. So,I called before I drove down there since I wasn't sure whether my appointment was canceled or not to double check since no one had called me back. Then, the front desk girl said that she had canceled it and we rescheduled it with her for another day. So, I said that was fine, even though a lot of my time was wasted. I didn't even get to go pick up my car because we're spending so much time going back-and-forth with the front desk girl about appointments that day. By the time I got off the phone with her, the car dealership was closed. So now I didn't have my haircut or my car. That sucked. Not very good customers service. At least if we could have rescheduled that would be better than nothing. so we rescheduled for May. Unfortunately, a couple days later I got a call saying that my appointment was canceled and to never come back. They said I was a chronic rescheduler and they're canceling appointments with me. I only scheduled about two appointments a year. I don't even remember them ever talking to me about that before. The lady at the front desk insisted that was their policy. I couldn't find that anywhere on the website. I don't know why we couldn't go forward with the appointment after knowing that in the future but they just canceled it completely at that point and they haven't returned any of my calls or texts. Even when I said I could come in using my husband's car at the time. They said it was too late. It's just ridiculous! I planned for all situations. I feel like I did everything I could. It's frustrating because I don't think that everything was given to Jessica. I never talked to her directly. It was only to the front desk. Clearly she wasn't giving them all the information. So, it was just really frustrating. I've been a long time client and to lose that was awful. She was my friend and I didn't even get to say goodbye to her. Then the head of the company never called me back either. So, they just blacklisted me with no recourse and no phone calls or anything. I called back and nobody returned my calls. It's very unprofessional and impersonal!
