This is the Ulta I usually shop at as its closest to me. I was in for a Beauty steals deal on Redkin. There was one left at the front of the store. I wandered around a bit looking at other items. I wanted to see if there was a tester so I could feel the consistency of the Redken gloss I was about to buy. I know the store pretty well, so I knew where it was and there wasn't a tester. It must've been a popular deal because there weren't any more left. I didn't see sales people on the floor at all so there's no one I could ask any questions to. Luckily, I got what I needed and went to the checkout. I had recently found a very, very old gift card that I had. So old that you couldn't even check the balance anymore. I asked the girls if I could use it and they said yes they never expire, after checking it only had $2.70 on it. They were really nice about helping me. I also had another gift card I used to pay with and again they were just super helpful and kind. The service here has been hit or miss in the past. I've had some fantastic sales people and I've had some not so fantastic ones so it was nice to have the girls at the checkout be so happy and willing to help. I'm glad this is my store because it's better than a lot of the other ones I've been to. I'll will for sure keep coming back. read more

My niece turned four recently and wanted to get hair tinsel for her birthday party. She asked my sisters and I to also get hair tinsel with her. I had no idea that Ulta offered the service of put tinsel in your hair and for such a good deal. It's $15 for 15 strands and the whole process took around 10 minutes a person. My niece chose purple which looked so cute and I decided on gold. Such a fun experience and made my niece's day! Fun fact I learned while being there: specific Ulta locations host birthday parties and the one at the forum is one of them. We saw a little girls birthday party and it was so cute. read more

I found this Ulta a bit understocked. I was looking for blue eyeliners and finally I got only from the brand Ulta and Maybelline but they did not have much variety and stock like other Ulta stores. Why did I tip I went in for the balayage.. left with nothing like I wanted. Was offered to have it fixed for free. Clearly they just hire anyone. This was a beyond eye opening experience. Being a man walking into a beauty shop and literally being ignored was disappointing. I was just trying to get my wife a gift, and for 25 minutes no one approached me and I finally stopped trying to find a certain skin care product and I asked for help. I found an employee and kindly asked if I can ask her a question, she turned around and said I helping some then silence and turned her back to me. I understand if you're helping someone but geez was she rude!!! I love Ulta but sometimes this location is messy and understocked. Most of the samples look like they've been abused by middle schoolers and many times they are out of what I need. The staff are super nice and knowledgeable, though, and I am always greeted with a smile and complimented at checkout (such a nice touch) and I always leave happy after an interaction with them. Why is it that 4 employees can be standing around doing nothing and only one cashier? I just had one of them refuse to ring me up as she said the busy one would be right with me. Then she proceeds to act busy while she stands around doing absolutely nothing. I was just in the store and almost took my purchase back. He knew exactly what I wanted and even listened to the reasoning behind why I wanted to change my hair color with such care and I couldn't be more appreciative :D. He walked me through each step with ease and gave me confidence through the whole process. He is so knowledgeable and I really felt I was in the best of care when he took the extra steps to make sure my hair turned out just the way that I had wanted it. I have always struggled to find a great ulta location to shop at, but recently I came into this store and cameron was so uplifting and he really made me feel comfortable about picking out items that best fit my needs, if you go into this location ask for cameron. I promise you will have the best experience ever. He even saved me 20% off my purchase with the store card, I will be back weekly to shop with cameron now that I have this card. Every time I come to the Forum in Carlsbad Ulta and use curbside pick up, it never goes well. I park in front of the store where I can see associates laughing and talking and standing right by online pick up. After about 8 minutes, I call the store and of course it says they are busy and I get irritated and walk in. What's the point of having curbside pick up if it doesn't work. My normal close to my house store was out but this store had it. The only time I go to this store which is 9 miles from my house is when my store is out. It's a huge inconvenience, a waste of time and gas. I wonder why this store always has items in stock it's probably cause no one likes to shop there. So disappointed in this Ulta. Stopped by this Ulta while vacationing and Stacey was the angel who helped shade match me for my wedding! I was on the hunt for a new foundation and always struggle with finding a good match. Stacey noticed me browsing and was very friendly, but not pushy in wanting to help. She gave me my space and when I was ready, I went to her for help. I just loved her energy! She was so fun and helpful, and tried multiple shades on me while being considerate of testing them with different lighting. The products here are just fine and the employees are helpful enough. The problem is the Managment and how they simply will not update their registers or the shelves with the correct sale prices on many things.. I can't think of how many times I've been over to this specific location at the Forum where something shows a sale price on the shelf, but it won't ring up on sale so at the register. Then they act like they're doing a huge favor to, fix the error. I'll bet most people don't even notice that they picked up a product because it was on sale but then get charged the full price. Something's wrong with the way their business practices. It happens all the time apparently trying to get more money out of the customer, than they ethically should. read more

I am incredibly picky over my hairstylists. I've been searching for the right one for months and am so glad I found SUMMER! I was getting married in the coming months so Summer gave my final haircut before the wedding (a lot of trust!) and a hair trial the same day. She absolutely gave the cut and style I asked for but was experienced enough to advise how styles may look differently on my face shape and hair type so I could finish with something that looks great on me, not just the model in my example photo I brought in. Typically as soon as you say you are a bride salons triple your cost. Summer styled my hair for my wedding day and miraculously my curls stayed all day long (I doubted it could be possible!!) and for an incredibly fair price. Not only is Summer exceptionally talented, she is an absolute sweetheart. So glad I found my hairstylist love of my life and don't have to endure any terrible trial hair cuts anymore! read more

The first thing anyone notices when walking into a business is ... Greeting your client. I wasn't greeted at all within the first 5 min of walking through the door. I also was not spoken to at all in the 30 min I was in the store. This has occurred several times. I am a regular shopper here. I was able to find what I was looking for, The Ordinary products, on my own and they were pretty much the only ones in town that had the acids I wanted in stock. SCORE! I appreciate a well stocked store so 5 stars in book for that. Service: service, as another Yelper had stated, was indifferent. Granted, it was quite busy the weekend I came in so I get it. However, customer service is always huge for me so I was a little bummed that I had to navigate on my own considering there was no obvious signage for the line I was looking for. The girl at the checkout counter was not friendly at all and rushed me through my transaction. No hello, no smile just "what's your phone #?" for their rewards program, then proceeded to toss my stuff unceremoniously in a bag and sent me on my way. Well, thanks for the unfriendly but at least speedy transaction. SMH. Parking is a nightmare at this outdoor mall. She gave me recommendation on using gel mascara versus pencil and I got to learn the pros and cons of each. This is a great place to buy anything and everything you need for both high-end and low-end cosmetics and haircare. Personally, I don't come here that often because I can get the drugstore brands cheaper at Target. But I do come here to stock up on natural hair care products when they are on sale. I'm on the mailing list and regularly get the coupons in the mail, so it makes sense to buy using multiple discounts. At the make-up counters like Lancome, they have experienced make-up artists who are skilled and can do color matching and give a mini make-over when available. I've had a facial at another Ulta location and was very happy. This is a great place to keep in mind if you need any beauty product. read more

I'd get a better selection at Target. Walking through prestige makeup looked the same. The Tarte shelf pretty empty. There were no employees around to ask any questions. This trip was a roller coaster. Love this Ulta and honestly all Ultas, who doesn't. The employees are so good here, super helpful and knowledgeable. Been shade matched multiple times to try different foundations and everyone has always done an great job. This visit started no different went to buy some hair ties and an eyebrow pencil since I was already up stairs getting my nails done. Ended up talking to someone and trying foundation. She did a full face for me and it turned out amazing. This is were it gets BAD. Went to checkout, total was $117 (and I was just here for hair ties) gave the cashier a $100 and a $50 totaling $150. She give me $2 back as change, now I'm no mathematician but I know $150-$117 isn't $2. I ask her that the total was again thinking I misheard but no I didn't. I very politely let her know I gave her a $50 not a $20 (not a confrontational person at all, the type of person to eat the mushrooms on the pizza even though I ordered it without mushrooms). Well man did she look at me like I was stupid and keeps repeating that it was a $20 calling me sweetie and acting like I was trying to scam her while I am just trying to ask her to check to make sure. Well I know for a fact I have no $20s because I was just upstairs at the nail place looking through my wallet for something smaller than a $50 for a tip. As I'm apologizing to her over and over telling her I don't mean to be rude and I'm sure it's a misunderstanding, the manager comes over. She tells the manager that I'm saying it was a $50 but it wasn't. The manager then goes to check the camera, can't see the bill in the camera so she opens up the register to find a $50 on top of the $20s. For retail reasons has to count the drawer anyways. The whole time I stand there waiting the original cashier keeps looking over rolling her eyes and giggling to herself (still thinking she is right). 25 minutes later end up getting my correct change. The manager like the rest of the employees was very nice and apologized but that doesn't change the fact the cashier treated me so rudely. Not sure if I will be back to this Ulta. read more

Worst Ulta store I've been too. Employees not knowledgeable and manger very rude and not helpful. Our foreign exchange student tried using her gift card here, but the pin code was scratched off. The cashier told her once she called to get a pin code she could come back and receive a refund for the cash. Our foreign exchange student speaks little English so paid cash thinking she could get back. There was even a note from the employee saying to come back for a refund. I came back to try and figure out what to do. Beverly, the manager was extremely rude and unwilling to help. She told me they do not do refund money. Overall, this was terrible experience.
