I didn't say anything because they already looked like they were trying their best, but they clearly need better direction and training Not only was this bad, but one of the girls who works there was more than snarky with the other emloyees which was ugly enough to witness, but she had just finished doing someone's manicure when she went to heat up some food and then sat behind her desk eating it in front of everyone and being very loud. I absolulty did not come there for the (it think her name started with an N) the N show. I can see that the owner is writing to people asking them to come back, but please don't ask me to do that. Those poor girls need your guidance more than you need my businsess.

(Updated Review) Just for clarity's sake, I went to SALON ADAIR at address: 6894 Embarcadero Lane, Carlsbad. No other salon has a similar name. Pictures of the inside of the salon match what I saw. I was at Salon Adair. When I arrived, Ryan Sullivan was the one who blamed Google for bad directions and I had my cut with Lorelei Loth. No one else was at the salon; it was a pretty empty place. I received a follow up "rate us" email following my appointment and told the salon I was unhappy with the cut and other issues. The emailed response to me was one that excused each point I made (i.e., "stylists tend to be conservative cutting a new client's hair...") and concluded with "come in and I can make your cut what you want." It did not inspire confidence for me to return when the response tried to justify what happened rather than take the feedback into consideration, much less apologize! FYI: I am a business woman and the last thing I would ever do to an unhappy client is justify how I am in the right. Why would I trust someone who doesn't think anything wrong happened at their salon enough to return to cut my hair again? (And the style cannot be fixed. It has to grow out the missing chunk first because I don't want a short haircut which is the only way it could be fixed.) Sorry, but the owner's response here appears to be more about saving face. My original review stands. Buyer beware. ------------------- Original Review ------------------ Several things went wrong and left me with the impression that this salon is not professional. #1. Good luck finding the place. They didn't alert me that the directions given by Google take you to a place where you will have a very difficult time finding their salon. #2. I called while driving around trying to find it and no one at the front desk picked up. I left a message asking them to call me and direct me to their salon. I received no return call. #3. Another salon had to direct me to their location and remarked, "Are you trying to find Salon Adaire? Yeah, we have to direct people all the time." Meaning...this happens a lot. #4. When I finally arrived and told the person that I had a difficult time finding the place - he blamed Google. Uh, no... If you run a business and you know that Google gives incorrect directions, you TELL THE CLIENT WHAT THE CORRECT INSTRUCTIONS ARE! Good business common sense. Then, the hairstylist was over 15 minutes late. I sat in the chair in what was pretty much an empty garage-style space that houses their salon. #5. The hairstylist did not give me the cut I asked for: no layering except a short large chunk in front which is not able to be styled due to the excess weight of the hair. (She tried about 7 different styling products to no avail.) #6. They are EXPENSIVE! The stylist I saw had been cutting for 10 years...charges almost $100 for a haircut. My previous stylist (now retired) cut hair for about 30 years, did a fantastic job, and charged $70. #7. When I left feedback, the salon owner took no responsibility... You know the drill. They make excuses for the incompetence that their stylist demonstrated with the cut and offer to "make it what you want." Problem is...I want the hair that was cut off in a mass chunk back on my head! Can't exactly fix that! I will never return. read more

!!WARNING Curlie Girls - STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALON!! Chelsea, the owner will promise you the world until she messes up, then she will screen your calls and ignore your messages. If you return to the Salon to fix a painful mistake, she will pretend to have a day off and be out of touch. In reality, she's on the phone with her friend/employee masterminding a plan to give you the boot along with a bag of bad hair extensions. Chelsea will never take accountability or responsibility for her mistakes. Though she WILL call the cops on you when you storm out of her salon saying "I can see you guys aren't going to 'effin' help me." They claim to have a lot of curly girl clients, though I have yet to see even one. It is a den of straight silk heads, believe me. Salon Adair insists that they know how to style curly hair, yet the first thing they do is run a comb through it right before styling. Then they start fingering it. So they don't even know curly basics 101. You REAL Curlies know what I'm talking about. They will give you fake 'salon' curly hair that turns to mushy frizz. They will never bring out your own unique curl pattern, with shine and bounce that improves during the day. On my last and final visit, Chelsea overbooked. And even though I made my appointment 3 months earlier, I was the ONLY one who waited two hours. As I got restless, Chelsea goes upstairs and comes back down with her newborn baby and drops him in my lap, basically having him take the bullet for her. Is she void of any moral compass? I'm still waiting for a $261.00 refund and again, Chelsea refuses to respond. I'm a semi-retired senior citizen living on a tight budget. I scrimped and saved almost a year for what turned out to be empty promises and a lot of physical and emotional pain. This is a REAL review. My only gain is the opportunity to tell the truth in a public forum. Chelsea's agenda is and always be the big bucks, not your hair. One star is too much, negative -5 more like it. read more

We got a coupon in the mail when we moved into our house for a Free Haircut. One of my favorite things in the world is Free Stuff! So my husband thought he'd try it out and see how Chelsea does. I have to admit it was one of his better haircuts. It looked great. So I thought I'd see what she's all about. I went in for hair extensions and she sold me 2 pieces for a total of $600 which included a haircut. She fitted them on my head and then started hacking away with a razor. I was thinking to myself "uh, I'm here for thicker, fuller hair" but she continued to thin it out. Well, there goes that $600 bucks. So 6 months later, I call Chelsea back because I wanted to buy the Halo Couture Fall for my daughter and Chelsea said "okay, it's $540" and I almost fell off my chair. It almost doubled in 6 months? So I paid for it, then she calls me to tell my daughter to go in. ( It was to include the haircut). We were so excited! So 20 minutes before our appointment time, Chelsea texts me and says "you know this isn't for a haircut, right, it's to fit it on your daughter's head". We were already in the car on the way to her store. So a week passes and she still never called to schedule the cut. By the way, I paid for the hair extensions in advance so I just have this theory that once people have your money, there's no motivation for anything else. When I called her (very upset), I told her if she really provided excellent service, she should get up early and fit my daughter in. She said she works from 5 am to midnight. So the next day I drove over to her shop at 9 am, then again at 10 am and guess what, she was closed! I waited til 10:30 then she opened the door. I asked her to give me the extensions and then I went elsewhere and paid $50 for a haircut. read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience with Bri for both a Head Spa and Haircut, and I cannot recommend her enough! The Head Spa portion was incredible from start to finish. Bri goes above and beyond to create the perfect ambiance for a truly relaxing experience. She dims the lights, incorporates scented candles, plays a calming playlist, provides a cozy blanket, and adjusts the chair to make sure you're in the most comfortable and relaxing position possible. Her head massage techniques were phenomenal! I went to her with dry brown hair that a previous salon had completely messed up and she was able to bring me back to a natural looking blonde that I've always wanted with minimal damage and a beautiful technique. It wasn't quiet or awkward, she talked to me about my life the whole time. I wasn't sitting down bored scrolling on my phone at all! Salon Adair is very clean, cute and pretty. Rachel Otto is amazing!!! I have been going to her for a few years and she is a miracle worker. I am a natural curly/wavy girl with long hair and have always had a hard time finding someone who can give me a cut/style that doesn't end up looking like a pyramid of poof. Rachel knows just what to do for natural curls. She is always able to cut my hair so the curls are enhanced and the frizz disappears. I'm a wash and go girl, and I never even have to use styling products after I see Rachel because my hair curls so great and easily after. She is also awesome with color. She weaved in highlights (to help blend the grays...eek) and you would never know because she matches my natural color so beautifully. I moved to Oceanside back in 2011, but refused to go to anyone but my stylist back at where my parents live (8 hours away). I finally decided to take the plunge and find a stylist down here. In February, I went to Natalie to get a color correction done on my hair. It was a reddish brown and I wanted to go back to blonde. She was able to do it in one go and my hair looked phenomenal. Salon Adair is my go-to place for my hair. I had to wait many months, until being fully vaccinated and having the salon reopen, to make an appointment, but my hair is much happier now. My favorite stylist at Salon Adair is Laura. She is so knowledgeable, and I tell that she truly cares about me. She really listens when I discuss my hair with her, and she has good ideas about the best way to give me the look I want. She took the time to teach me what I needed to know to take care of my hair, and now my hair looks healthier and is much easier to take care of, thanks to Laura. I have been coming to Chelsea for the last 4 years and she does amazing color every single time. Not only is she such a pro when it comes to color, but she is always so flexible with me and my crazy work schedule. She always finds a way to accommodate me. It takes me an hour in bumper to bumper traffic to get to her and let me tell you, SHE IS WORTH IT!! And for those few people who complained about getting lost, really? Chelsea ( owner) has been doing my hair for over 14 years. I have watched her grow into the professional business woman and hairstylist that she is today. Clients are her priority. She listens to your needs and always treats you with the most care. She is skilled in her trade, so much so that my mother, dad and sister drive up from the city of Orange, to get the special Chelsea treatment. I hadn't gotten my hair professionally done in a really long time, but a friend referred me to Kyla Rose. I had been bleaching my hair for many years but was tired of having the roots grow out/the maintenance of it all, as my hair is naturally brunette anymore. I went to Kyla to get my roots blended in and she did what she called a reverse balayage and she did such an amazing job, I love my new hair! Chelsea took care of my hair for four years while I lived in San Diego, and she and her team are amazing. The salon recently had an incredible makeover, and though it's always been super classy in there, it now feels like an absolute oasis - a great place to unwind and be treated to entertaining conversation while knowing your hair is being loved and cared for by the most passionate beauty team. I've been going to Salon Adair and getting my hair cut by Chelsea for a few years now. She is a total professional. I'm always impressed on how she is always honing her craft, mentoring her salon crew, finding opportunities to work on Hollywood and Musical talent, always growing and learning. She is always changing up her hairstyle, the salon atmosphere, etc. I would recommend this place to anyone and please note I do few recommendations on Yelp, so this place is worth it. read more
