I have long dark thick south asian hair. I wanted a balayage that was not the traditional ashy/caramel/blonde balayage. Olga transformed my hair. I had somewhat of an idea and she took it to a whole different level. I got a haircut, full balayage, toner and root touch up. I had a few grays that she touched up. I wanted to like this place and was so excited as a single mom who hasn't had a haircut in awhile. I called on a Wednesday and they booked me w Katie for the following Saturday at 4:15. Unfortunately when I arrived I was told Katie went home sick at 1 and nobody else could do my hair because they close at 5. They didnt offer me another time or day nor did they call to let me know she went home early, apparently they didnt even put me on the schedule is what the front desk said. I was shocked. My experience at the lotus den was PHENOMENAL -- and I don't use that word lightly!! I haven't had my hair professionally cut in YEARS... and this was the most amazing first experience back!! Right when I walked in... it was SUCH a good vibe! I have CPTSD and am also neurodivergent... so vibes and me not being overstimulated or overwhelmed the ENTIRE time I was there was a FIRST (..maybe ever? lol) Not overwhelmingly loud music, hairdryers, voices, etc. The layout of the salon is SO cute and very ideal for a brain like mine ahaha! I went in for a gloss and a cut, and the results were better than I imagined. Emerson did an amazing job. I have fine yet wavy, dark brown hair, and Emerson knew exactly how to work with it. The toner/gloss turned out beautifully and she was very respectful of my wishes to preserve my length while also trimming what needed to go. One of the fist times I truly felt listened to at a salon. I'm in my mid-to-late 20s, and the vibe was perfect. Everyone was so kind, casual, and down-to-earth, which I really appreciated. Wow! I just moved to Oceanside and was in bad need of a haircut. I called hoping for a last minute appointment and they worked to fit me in. Not only were they responsive, but so professional. The salon is super cute and is side by side with a barbershop. I was greeted with a smile upon arrival and they offered me a refreshment. Most importantly, Jessica gave be an absolutely fabulous cut! The vibes inside of the salon were busy but very girly and chic; I deducted one star because I do wish that their pricing was listed on their website so that you could overview before booking...I was in dire need of a haircut and loved the work of one of the stylists so I booked an appointment with no knowledge of pricing (my fault, I know). To my surprise, my simple wash, trim, and blow dry was $125, I will also note that I have pretty thin hair so this was a bit of a shocker since the service only took about 30 minutes. Way too expensive! My haircut is nice and the salon is beautiful but $100 for a haircut is too much. Just to give more context to the reply below: My stylist had a posted recently expired INTERN cosmetology license so she was definitely not very experienced. She also mentioned that she started high school in 2020 so she couldn't have been older than 19. I'm not saying anything bad about her because she was polite and the haircut is okay but not worth $100. My haircut was not complex. It's a long bob with layers and curtain bangs. She only took about 2 inches off the length and did all of the layering while my hair was still wet. The entire experience from start to finish was around 35 minutes including washing and drying. My lesson was learned and I will always ask for prices before I receive a service. I anticipated between $50-70 and didn't know how to respond when I was presented with a $100 bill (plus an expected gratuity). read more
