Great Cut And Colour! After a loooong time not seeing Nicole, I finally had time to make an appointment for cut, color and treatment. I've known Nicole for atleast 5 years and since moving to LA, I had a different stylist do lot of chemy process to my long locks. I was introduced to Brittany Shuff through my cousin this year, and boy have I met my hair soulmate!!! This salon is amazing and Natalie Is the best stylist I've ever gone to. She always takes her time to make sure she fully understands what I want and takes the time to give me a head massage in the shampoo bowl. Before the end of the day Saturday, Julia (the salon owner) called me to address this issue. Although we've been playing phone tag since then, I do appreciate her effort so I'm amending this review. I've been here 3 times. First two times were fine. Isis cut my hair the first time and Roxy the second. Roxy gave me a nice bob and it looked great! Came in today at 11:30 for my third appointment and there was no one to greet me. I awkwardly stood by the desk until one of the stylists had to pause her work to welcome me. Didn't see Roxy until I 11:40 when she said she was running late and would be another 10 minutes. I gave her 20 and then left. A full 30 minutes after my scheudled appointment. As a customer my time has been wasted. If a business asks me to make an appointment, they should adhere to the same standard. read more

I have never giving anyone a review and I have never find any hair stylish that I love, but if I can give this girl a 10 stars review, I would. She is very good at what she does. She is very knowledgeable and very preside. She gave a lift to my hair from black to ashy blond only in one section (other stylist told me it take about 5 or more). I spend my 8 hours there and she was with me the whole time. She took care of my hair and entertain me and she make the whole 8 hours went by so quick. Jessica is phenomenal and the cost of service was more than reasonable. I love this place and I love Jessica (other stylists are very friendly and helpful too). The salon is clean and modern. She is a Color Specialist, but I call her a Hair Chemist. My hair was getting too light in some areas, brassy reddish in other areas, and of course mousy brown with grey strands for roots. She concocted different gentle, organic products to try to make my hair look natural with golden highlights framing my face and subtle highlights here and there. She toned down what she called warmth and I called reddish, brassy and did a great job of almost matching my seventeen year old virgin hair even at my current age of 48. There was a young lady there donating hair for Locks of Love and her god-given hair was naturally what I was paying to achieve artificially by an excellent hair stylist! read more

I followed Breanna to Studio 514 so this is more of a review about her than the salon. I love the salon though and it doesn't feel like a boring salon- it's like a hip hangout. So about Breanna- love this girl! I've been going to her for 4 or 5 years and I would follow her anyplace. I drive all the way from downtown to get my hair done by her. Hello people, do you know how far that is in traffic?? She really listens to you and doesn't try and tell you what SHE thinks you should do to your hair. With that being said, I trust her enough now that I ask her for advice on everything related to hair and I know she's going to give me great advice. She's taught me so much about how to style my hair and always spends extra time making my hair fabulous before I leave- none of this rush you out of the chair because the next client arrived. She's also super accomodating with appointments and scheduling isn't a nightmare like it is with some stylists. I appreciate that some stylists are really busy but you can't see me for 3 months... uh, no thank you! I second what one other yelper said about not having to make small talk with her. Organic hair studio?! Who knew?! I absolutely love the concept and the fact that they don't use the regular toxic junk that's ubiquitous at most hair salons. I love the cute little place, that it's nestled in between my two favorite restaurants in Oceanside, (The Fish Joint & Hill Street Cafe), and that the people who work there are really friendly. It's hard to find stylists who understand curly hair, but Breanna is among them. The one part of hair cuts that I've always dreaded is making small talk. I hate small talk. But Breanna is exceptionally sweet and easy to talk to, which makes the experience feel less like making small talk and more like chatting with a friend. Let me tell you about Laura Barber, a bad ass barber. Laura first and foremost is a expert in her craft, cutting men's hair. Her card says "Dedicated to fair play and a square deal. No one should expect less or be given more" and I can attest to the fact that she lives by this motto. For a very low price she will transform your unruly man hair into a small work of perfection. This isn't some sissy metrosexual "do" this is a real man's haircut by a real barber who is really good at what they do. Cutting dude hair and doing straight razor shaves. Since I started going to Laura I have gotten three of the best haircuts of my life and if I could grow a real beard I'm sure she could make me 10% more attractive just by giving me a straight razor shave. If a nearly perfect haircut and shave for a very reasonable price was all Laura had to offer I'd say its a no brainer but it's not. Laura is one of those very special people who are fortunate enough to figure out what they want to do with their life and persue it with all that pent up passion. The result is a very talented and passionate individual who's always stoked to the max and is 100% committed in giving you the cut that will stoke you out (and the ladies).
