So disappointed with the incompetent AI booking system and inability by the staff to problem solve. I called during business hours to book appts for me and my adult daughter. They didn't answer the phone and instead I received a text to make the appts. The AI could not understand I was trying to make 2 appts for 2 services each. Just basic manis and pedis. I gave up, called the next day and made the appts with a receptionist. She seemed confused as she was booking the appointments and I had to repeat the time I asked for multiple times to her. We confirmed everything twice by the end of the call. When we arrived for our appointments, they said they only had one appt on the books and could not accommodate another. The receptionist questioned whether I had actually made the two appts. and wanted to know who I spoke with. They were more accusatory than helpful. The receptionist stared at us blankly as she could not think of any other options to accommodate. It was not the experience I expected when talking with the person who made the appts. Now that I've read more reviews, I can see I'm not the only person who has problems with their scheduling in general. I had just wanted to spend a nice and relaxing day for my daughter and I, but it felt stressful right off the bat. Great place for nails and cocktails! Its a very welcoming and beautiful space. It's more expensive than most nail places but they use non toxic materials. Very friendly staff, appointments usually aren't available last minute because they are always busy so just call to schedule an appointment. I have been a dedicated customer at this salon for over a year and a paying subscriber to their $90 monthly gel extension and nail art service. I must say, the quality of the work and the beautiful nail art is why I've been a returning client for so long. I've always been flexible with their frequent text messages asking me to move my appointment by 15 minutes, even rearranging my schedule to accommodate my nail tech's summer hours. However, my last visit was the final straw. I received a text to come in 15 minutes later, but when I arrived, the front desk accused me of being late and told me they were canceling my appointment.I showed her the text message, and after a tense back-and-forth, she told me they could only do a manicure and offered half off my next service. Then, things got even more confusing. After my nail tech prepped my hands, the front desk person came over again and said they could do my extensions. This kind of unprofessional back-and-forth is something I've experienced repeatedly, along with a lot of the women there having less than stellar attitudes. On top of the poor customer service, my nail tech was uncharacteristically silent the entire time. This, combined with a history of my gel extensions frequently popping off, has made me realize that my loyalty and subscription mean nothing to this business. Melissa, as suspected just like your staff you have mischaracterized the situation by hiding your staff's inability to fix a problem they caused on multiple occasion behind "I love my staff so much that I wouldn't allow such rude behavior..." Not once I raised my voice nor did I used any profanities or disrespect. By simply asking valid questions your team felt disrespected? It wasn't my behavior, it was them realizing their incompetence is costing your salon money because you can't seem to fix the problem you had caused. So instead of owning it they decided to save their jobs and hide their incompetence behind the lie that I was being rude. The reason I came back to your salon was because you caused the problem and your team reassured me that a new person would be able to fix it. But as other customers who have given you poor ratings here have shared, your poor schedule management and staff training to deal with these matters coupled with their actually incompetent technical skills has yielded to a disastrous results. You think by keep saying "you were fired" that adds to the merits of your argument. Truth matters and you are hiding it by acting like a martyr and a business owner who really loves her staff because the point you are running away from is that it was your decision to hire those team members who did a poor job which makes you a terrible judge of skills. From the moment your nail technician met me she was clearly in a bad mood - not happy - not smiling - not wanting to be there. Was it my age? My demographic? Who knows. She didn't want me as a customer and that was clear. From the moment she met me she told me she wouldn't do the services I pre-paid/booked. All while being very rude and making me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. I had hoped to be a customer - hoped to receive a nice mani & pedi and escape the stresses and worry of life for a brief pampering, but instead your salon created a very unpleasant experience. When I left I did a walk in at another nail salon where I was greeted with a smile and they did the exact mani & pedi that your salon wouldn't do for reasons unknown. I will seek a refund from my credit card company as I'm just going to venture a guess that your business won't electively process a refund. An apology would be nice as well but from the type of employees in the salon, I'm judging management isn't much better...oh and I'm a big tipper - been told recently that I'm "generous to a fault".... I've brought my husband, my friends, and continually recommended this salon because I believed in the experience they offered. Unfortunately, my recent interaction has completely changed that. I called the salon an hour before my appointment because I was experiencing a severe back spasm and didn't feel safe driving. Instead of any understanding or basic customer care, I was told I would be charged the full cost of the appointment plus a full tip for a "late cancellation." Not only is this an incredibly disappointing way to treat a regular customer, but at no point was I ever given a written policy or contract outlining these charges. Yet because they keep credit cards on file, they simply process the charge without any approval or consideration of circumstances. Customers deserve to know that this is how cancellations are handled here -- even when it's a first-time issue and even when it involves a genuine medical concern. I understand that appointments reserve time and space, and that late cancellations can't always be filled. But using a strict, punitive policy with no room for reasonable exceptions -- especially toward a longstanding, supportive customer -- is not how you build trust or loyalty. It certainly doesn't reflect the level of service I thought this salon stood for. I'm sharing this so that others are fully aware of the policy and how it is enforced. Sadly, I can no longer recommend PAINT Nail Bar Encinitas after this experience. read more

We were happy to finally find a nail place that had a spa ambiance and was maybe more professional. Everything looks pretty, they offer you drinks, and there are phone chargers (although they didn't really work). The nail technicians were so sweet and so good so they get 5 stars. I have two issues: 1) we made an appointment for 4 people and they said no problem. When we got there we were told that one person was going to have to start 20 minutes later and wouldn't be able to get the service they wanted because of time. We weren't thrilled but we said okay. An HOUR later, our 4th person still didn't get in so we obviously said "forget it." There's a big difference between 20 minutes and an hour and it kind of ruined our whole idea of a girls day. 2) their pedicure doesn't include any kind of scrubbing the dead skin on the feet. They put something on my legs but didn't scrub. When I asked, she said that it doesn't come with this pedicure. Shouldn't that automatically be part of a pedicure that costs $77? I may give this place another chance but unfortunately we have not found our ideal nail salon. read more

I had such a fabulous first time experience here at the Paint Nail Bar in Encinitas. I was looking for a safe place to get my nails done while going through chemotherapy. The salon was beautiful, the service was excellent and I left feeling pampered and special. The dazzle dry manicure has lasted for over two weeks, which is unheard of. Normally, manicures that aren't gel only last me 2-3 days. Christina did my manicure and Emely did my pedicure. They were both kind and their attention to detail was amazing! I am taking my friend there who is visiting from out of town. There is another salon in Carlsbad closer to me that does dazzle dry, but the vibe was nothing like Paint. Alyssa is awesome- she is extremely skilled and removes and preps the nails such that my gel manicures last with no lifting or any issues, and my nails stay healthy! I'm excited that I found this nail salon! The location has been here for quite some time, but it's under new ownership. The salon is very clean and comfortable. They offer you a drink like tea or a mimosa as well while you are getting your service. I also really like the polishes that they carry called dazzle dry, which stays on like a gel without the headache of removal. Elia did my nails and my pedi and did an amazing job. You can tell she really knows nails. I had dip on and the last salon had filed my nails down paper thin. She added a gel overlay once she removed the dip powder to strengthen my nail, and then added gel polish on top. It looks so nice and my nails feel much stronger. I love getting my nails done at this establishment, because it's natural nail polish nontoxic. However, I had my nails done there the other day and they chipped in a day and they felt very lumpy? I called back to get them repaired ,they're always gracious about repairing the nails. The technician I had today didn't even really talk to me. I was offered nothing to drink. I felt as though I was not being treated well because I came back as with a complaint. Something I never ever ever do is not leave a gratuity. Honestly really disappointed in this place because I had such an amazing experience my first time. I re-booked and wanted to try the Gel-X this time. I booked it with a removal as I still had the hard gel/overlay on from my previous visit here. The salon called me after I booked and asked to confirm that I wanted Gel X and asked me what I needed removed, the woman said the removal would be for removing gel x (not the hard gel I had on), so I asked her if she would want me to remove it at home before I came in? She said yes it would make it easier for them and the visit a lot faster. So I came in the next day with all the product removed. The nail technician started to work on my nails but commented that they were really damaged from my removal and needed her co-worker to look at a nail because one looked really bad/cut. After looking at it she said she would not put any product on that one nail, and then her co-worker said she would not put any product on any of my nails because of how damaged they were. I 100% understood where they were coming from because my nails were thin and appeared to be damaged. However I told them I only removed the previous work at the ask of the salon, and I would have kept on my old nail work if I had known they wouldn't be able to work on them. They unfortunately did not have a solution. This was a few days before New Year's Eve, and it left me really upset to have horribly damaged nails that could not bear any product for the holiday (and probably 4-6 weeks.) Again I do not blame the technician as she was trying to make sure my nails did not get infected or further damaged, but at no point did they offer me any solution or did management contact me. The biggest issue is that the salon essentially asked me to remove the hard gel/overlay to save them time, knowing I did book a removal, and that I am obviously not a professional. This is really unacceptable to waste my time and money from my previous visit. Sadly I will not be back here again. read more
