This store is conveniently located in a shopping center, which makes parking very easy. I stopped in to pick up an online order and had also signed up for their rewards program, which came with a free birthday gift. The store was clean, well organized, and easy to navigate. The employee who assisted me was kind and polite, and even though they were fairly busy, I was in and out in no time. Great experience overall! read more

Every time I go to return something here it takes the employees upwards of 20-30 minutes to process it. They act very annoyed when you need help finding something. They give you directions like it's in the body aisle. And how am I supposed to know where that is? Some employees have bad attitudes and others are very timid. And the manager just seems scary & lingers over shoppers. I went to the summit location and felt way more welcome and it took 2 minutes for them to process my return there. read more

I had an appointment to have formal makeup done at the store at 4:30 for an important dinner engagement. I arrived 5 minutes early and they said to have a seat and the stylist would be with me shortly. 10 minutes later, Jasmine came over to inform me that she was running late and would not be able to complete the look I had referenced photos of but could do "something", because for some reason, it takes her an hour to do makeup. I was shocked and upset that I would not be able to have my makeup done the what I had booked the appointment for, and did not bring makeup with me or live close by to do it myself. I told her that no one contacted me and I was upset to have to pay for a service and wasted my time that I did not schedule for. She said, with an attitude, she would be back and needed to finish up. I saw her still in the middle of coloring someone's hair and waited another 20 minutes. After I would only have 30 minutes or less to have her do "something", I left the salon area to find someone to help me purchase makeup to do it myself and was visibly upset by the entire experience and disrespect and now not be able to have the formal look for a formal dinner. I spoke to the closest worker in tears explaining what happened, and she turned to a vendor asking her to help me purchase the makeup I needed to do the look myself. Thankfully she was an angel in disguise and sat me down and did the makeup herself in the 30 minutes, and finally as this woman was in the middle of doing my makeup, Jasmine came up to us and said "ummmm" like she was surprised I wasn't going to let her do 20 mins worth of makeup. If you book an appointment here, request to NOT let Jasmine with the purple and blue hair do anything unless you want her to have zero respect for your time, not alert you or management that she was late or there was any issue, and take an excessive amount of time to do what you paid for. I will never set foot in this store and all they said when I called a few days later was that they talked to her. Thanks for ruining my formal dinner, ulta Hoover. read more

Staff are rude with terrible attitudes. It's uncomfortable to shop and look at the products. I recommend going across the street to Belk or visiting Sephora when you are in Bham. Sephora lets me look at the products, they have plenty of testers, and are delighted to take my $200-$300! read more

I just spent almost $200 on items here just now. The cashier told me to leave my bag that I've purchased in the front. Since when we can't have the items we purchased to leave with us to go to the restroom? . I would've understood if I didn't buy the items and were to leave but I bought everything. On top of that stop hiring people who have attitude problem in this work field. You are dealing with customers why are you following them around and having attitude. read more

Torin, is the best hair colorist! Her skill is far above anyone I have ever had color my hair . She makes the job look like anyone could do it . She is a such talented person and I know I couldn't do what she does but her skill level is top notch !!! I decided last minute to get my hair done in vacation. It was few weeks off Easter holiday. I was very fortunate to get an appointment. I came in with just a picture and request to turn my hair back to the blonde of my twenties . The last 15 yrs my hair has turned more medium brown . She did such a good job at not making it strawberry and giving it nice ribbons of blonde strips . She took great care of explaining why she chose the placement of blonde ribbons location. Im four hours away from her and I'm thinking I might have to make the trip back for touch ups she is that talented . she has such a great personality and we had such great conversations about DND & pet design contests / Pageants. She is also reasonably priced compared the surrounding area & other place. read more

This is a great Ulta location. Their customer service is phenomenal! So much better and more knowledgeable than the Brook Highland Ulta on 280! The associates here really know what to do. On my most recent visit, I picked up a lash and brow serum as well as a moisturizer. read more

I was in and out really fast . I was looking for a specific flat iron . They had a decent selection of flat irons , but not in the price range I was looking to pay. This location is well organized. Really bright inside. This is a great store for a lot of reasons. Unfortunately , I didn't find what I needed but I do enjoy shopping @ Ulta! This strip mall area in Hoover is busy but there's ample parking available. Happy shopping! read more

Whenever I go into Ulta, it is always for a specific product. I always end up walking out with an extra product or two, of course, but not because of the sales people. Because I think of something else I need! Anyway, I went in there last week for an under eye concealer; I was specifically looking for a non-heavy, light, and creamy texture. I could not find a sales person on the floor so I went to the front counter and asked if they could find someone to help me and within 15 seconds, a salesperson was right by my side. (Each salesperson wears a microphone headset to communicate quickly with one another). Right before she started to help me, she noticed a few young girls on the other side of the store attempting to steal products. She was right on the ball, then got back to me as soon as possible. I appreciated that she was very watchful. Then I told her what I needed, and she took me straight to the Tart Shape Tape under eye concealer. It was exactly as I had described. It was a great experience, again. read more

I really needed my roots touched up (as most do with COVID Salon closures). I also recently moved here from Tuscaloosa, AL. I called up Ulta and they booked me an appointment with Grace the salon manager I had black hair underneath and really wanted more black throughout with icy blonde highlights. My description (poor) and a few crappy Pinterest photos (terrible reference) was all I had to show my stylist. She still NAILED IT. I have NEVER been so happy with my hair. If you live in Hoover please go show her some support!!! On another note: Ulta is also following current Covid precautions so you must wear a face mask inside and you're encouraged to practice social distancing. 6 ft apart. Made me feel comfortable going seeing the sanitizing routines all taken so seriously. All the workers were sanitizing surfaces, sanitizer out for customer and employee use, everyone wearing masks. read more

I always love coming to this Ulta!! Amber makes you feel like she has always known you. Today Dari checked me out at the register and she was very friendly and helpful as well. She let me know that I was eligible for the Ulta card and in doing so I would save 20% on my purchase. She also took the time to update my information as my phone number has changed. I was most impressed with the teamwork I saw between Dari and her co worker Jasmine. I overheard Jasmine encouraging Dari on how well she was doing behind the counter. This was while there were no customers in line and it's just really good to shop in such an encouraging, teamwork, and customer oriented company. And Rayona is always there with a smile on her face and always busy working. These days there is so much negative and back bitting going on in any kind of business. Great job Amber , on how much difference just a few good women can make for the face of a retail store. (and/or a few good men whatever the case may be) I will always be more apt to spend my money in a atmosphere like Ulta in Hoover then somewhere they may even have a lower priced, same item but no consistent cheerfulness in their attitude. In todays world there is enough tearing one down to make oneself "feel" better about themselves. We need more companies and more managers with heart like Ulta in Hoover where management , teamwork, and the building up of their teammates is just a way of everyday business!!! And their Customer service is a solid 10!!!! read more

Can't believe I haven't rated this ULTA! Anyhow, ULTA is normally where I pick up my NYX makeup. I love NYX, especially their lipsticks and setting spray. ULTA has great sales on NYX regularly and normally, NYX products are in stock. If there's not a sale going on, you usually can find coupon that can be used. The most popular coupons are $3.50 off a purchase of $15.00 or more and the 20% off your entire purchase. ULTA gives great birthday gifts if you're a part of their rewards program. Also, you earn points that can be redeemed for items when you're a part of their rewards program so be sure to sign up! read more

Worst experience ever. I went into the Hoover location looking for the Dior stick foundation($58) and Concealer. I had just bought $280 worth of makeup 3 days ago. I couldn't use because the ladies in alabaster,al wouldn't color match me. So I returned $130 worth planning to spend another $150-$200 the lady Joy that matches make up on you was there today around 11:20 ish. I ask the Assistant manager, and the lady that was color matching me if they knew who Jeffree star is because I seen him say that the Dior was the best cover-up along with concealer. The lady that matches you said I know who he is. He's a racist. I said that's so Inappropriate for an employee at a makeup store to make comments like that. She kept on and said that her store manager was also an African-American insinuating that nothing would be done to her for her actions. I've never been anywhere an employee says someone is racist. I told her I was simply asking about makeup. We weren't talking about anything other than makeup in my mind. I want the corporate office to contact me immediately. read more

This new location is much bigger than the old, it seems. More importantly, their stock seems to be much more reliable than the old location. Staff have always been friendly and helpful, but I feel like they are a little more knowledgeable. The lines seems to be consistently longer, however. Not sure if this is due to more volume or fewer cashiers, but the line moves pretty quickly, so it hasn't been a problem. I haven't seen a problem with clutter, either...perhaps more room makes it easier to keep straight? In any case, I am pleased with this location. read more
