Torin, is the best hair colorist! Her skill is far above anyone I have ever had color my hair . She makes the job look like anyone could do it . She is a such talented person and I know I couldn't do what she does but her skill level is top notch !!! I decided last minute to get my hair done in vacation. It was few weeks off Easter holiday. I was very fortunate to get an appointment. I came in with just a picture and request to turn my hair back to the blonde of my twenties . The last 15 yrs my hair has turned more medium brown . She did such a good job at not making it strawberry and giving it nice ribbons of blonde strips . She took great care of explaining why she chose the placement of blonde ribbons location. Im four hours away from her and I'm thinking I might have to make the trip back for touch ups she is that talented . she has such a great personality and we had such great conversations about DND & pet design contests / Pageants. Whenever I go into Ulta, it is always for a specific product. I always end up walking out with an extra product or two, of course, but not because of the sales people. Because I think of something else I need! Anyway, I went in there last week for an under eye concealer; I was specifically looking for a non-heavy, light, and creamy texture. I could not find a sales person on the floor so I went to the front counter and asked if they could find someone to help me and within 15 seconds, a salesperson was right by my side. (Each salesperson wears a microphone headset to communicate quickly with one another). Right before she started to help me, she noticed a few young girls on the other side of the store attempting to steal products. She was right on the ball, then got back to me as soon as possible. I appreciated that she was very watchful. Then I told her what I needed, and she took me straight to the Tart Shape Tape under eye concealer. It was exactly as I had described. I always love coming to this Ulta!! Amber makes you feel like she has always known you. Today Dari checked me out at the register and she was very friendly and helpful as well. She let me know that I was eligible for the Ulta card and in doing so I would save 20% on my purchase. She also took the time to update my information as my phone number has changed. I was most impressed with the teamwork I saw between Dari and her co worker Jasmine. I overheard Jasmine encouraging Dari on how well she was doing behind the counter. This was while there were no customers in line and it's just really good to shop in such an encouraging, teamwork, and customer oriented company. And Rayona is always there with a smile on her face and always busy working. These days there is so much negative and back bitting going on in any kind of business. Great job Amber , on how much difference just a few good women can make for the face of a retail store. (and/or a few good men whatever the case may be) I will always be more apt to spend my money in a atmosphere like Ulta in Hoover then somewhere they may even have a lower priced, same item but no consistent cheerfulness in their attitude. I really needed my roots touched up (as most do with COVID Salon closures). I also recently moved here from Tuscaloosa, AL. I called up Ulta and they booked me an appointment with Grace the salon manager I had black hair underneath and really wanted more black throughout with icy blonde highlights. My description (poor) and a few crappy Pinterest photos (terrible reference) was all I had to show my stylist. She still NAILED IT. I have NEVER been so happy with my hair. If you live in Hoover please go show her some support!!! On another note: Ulta is also following current Covid precautions so you must wear a face mask inside and you're encouraged to practice social distancing. 6 ft apart. Made me feel comfortable going seeing the sanitizing routines all taken so seriously. All the workers were sanitizing surfaces, sanitizer out for customer and employee use, everyone wearing masks. read more

Worst experience ever. I went into the Hoover location looking for the Dior stick foundation($58) and Concealer. I had just bought $280 worth of makeup 3 days ago. I couldn't use because the ladies in alabaster,al wouldn't color match me. So I returned $130 worth planning to spend another $150-$200 the lady Joy that matches make up on you was there today around 11:20 ish. I ask the Assistant manager, and the lady that was color matching me if they knew who Jeffree star is because I seen him say that the Dior was the best cover-up along with concealer. The lady that matches you said I know who he is. He's a racist. I said that's so Inappropriate for an employee at a makeup store to make comments like that. She kept on and said that her store manager was also an African-American insinuating that nothing would be done to her for her actions. I've never been anywhere an employee says someone is racist. I told her I was simply asking about makeup. We weren't talking about anything other than makeup in my mind. I want the corporate office to contact me immediately. read more

This new location is much bigger than the old, it seems. More importantly, their stock seems to be much more reliable than the old location. Staff have always been friendly and helpful, but I feel like they are a little more knowledgeable. The lines seems to be consistently longer, however. Not sure if this is due to more volume or fewer cashiers, but the line moves pretty quickly, so it hasn't been a problem. I haven't seen a problem with clutter, either...perhaps more room makes it easier to keep straight? In any case, I am pleased with this location. read more
