Dye stain

Pros: super cute, everyone was nice, appropriately socially distanced. Cons: I brought pics of what I wanted color-wise, basically a dark blonde with some really natural-looking highlights around the face. Instead, I got thick tacky mall highlights that: - Start abruptly mid-shaft - Don't follow any discernable normal sun-exposure or hair growth pattern - Are unevenly bleached - Don't blend at all with the base color Additionally - My hair feels like straw. Pics were taken following 3 deep conditioning treatments at home. - They left a ring of dye on my face that took a good hour of scrubbing to get off. - Cut and blow-dry are not included in a color service, which would be fine except that I asked for shaggy layers and got an uneven blunt cut. - This place is NOT cheap. The attached cost $300.

I've been very weary of salons and hair stylists after having a great do done by someone who moved away. I went here because one of my friends went. Love the space. Very casual and nice. Definitely didn't feel like a hair salon- which I liked. I had Mary do my hair. I told her how I felt about my current color and more about what I wanted. She got to work. I was here on a Saturday morning and left in less than 2 hours! Which I've never experienced when getting my hair done. She did such a great job! She was able to add lowlights, bring my blonde up, and give me the dimension my curly hair needed. Loved my experience!

“The prices are high, however, it is to be expected for a trendy salon and my undying desire for the perfect Mary Fulton blonding.”

I normally don't write reviews this soon after visiting a hair salon (I typically like to try them…read moremore than once to make sure they're consistent), but Anna worked some serious magic on my baby fine hair. I just moved to the Mountain Brook a few weeks ago and was in desperate need of a good hair cut after growing my hair out several months before my wedding. I've gone to plenty of salons over the years that don't know how to work with my fine hair. They over-promise and under-deliver, not taking into consideration what their clients want. Right away I knew I was in good hands with Anna, who came highly recommended from a local Mt. Brook Facebook page. She was personable and had a confidence that made me feel at ease -- she clearly knew what she was doing. Throughout the appointment she shared recommendations for places to check out around town, from local restaurants to shops. She certainly went the extra mile and helping me feel welcome to the city. The salon itself is tucked away on Culver Rd., but when you open the door: wow. It's a charming, gorgeous space. Wildflower is definitely worth trying out ASAP.

Kami Watts does my hair and my daughters, and we are never disappointed. Always so professional and does just what we ask. There's is not much parking in the front, but just pull to the back and there is plenty, and you can walk through the back door. Great place and so relaxing.

Kudos to Amber who has the rare gift of being good at cuts, color, styling and she does hair…read moretinsel. It's not often that you can get a stylist who is literally top notch at everything. It's a yes for this girl from this girl! Highly recommend!

Are you wondering why I gave one star? Honestly, Wheelhouse Salon deserves none, but that wasn't an…read moreoption. My experience here was extremely disappointing, aside from my initial consultation with Angelika on Oct. 20th. During the consult, I explained that my main goal was to blend my 3-month gray grow-out into something easier to maintain. I showed her photos of the soft gray-blended look I wanted, and she never once said it couldn't be achieved in one session. She filled out a laminated service card with the exact services and prices required, and I booked based on that information. On Oct. 28th, I arrived for the first color appointment. After reviewing the same photos again, Angelika brought over another stylist, and they decided to add a shadow root. When she finished, my hair looked nothing like what I asked for--I left with blue roots and barely any blonde. She apologized and said she'd fix it at my next scheduled appointment on Nov. 12, which included both the correction and a keratin treatment. Since she promised it would all be handled then, I trusted her. When checking out that day, I was charged $393.32--lower than the quote--but still tipped 20% because she said she planned to fix everything. My total came to $471.98. On Nov. 12th, I showed up expecting the correction and the keratin, as previously discussed. Instead, I was told I had to choose one service because she hadn't booked enough time. I chose the keratin since that's what she had scheduled. Afterward, while checking out, the front desk tried charging me $476 instead of the quoted $315, saying I "hadn't paid enough" at the first visit and they needed to collect an additional $40. This was never communicated. They removed one $40 error, but I still ended up paying $456.54. After realizing that I had now spent over $900 and still didn't have anything close to the color I asked for, I messaged Angelika directly through the contact card she provided. She read the message but never replied. When I called the salon to review the charges, another error was found and I was refunded $48.29--even though their written policies state they "don't offer refunds." It was clear I had been overcharged multiple times. I reached out again to clarify my Dec. 1 correction appointment. The salon later texted me saying Angelika felt she only owed me a base color and blow-dry, and that I would have to pay for the foil and toner--another $274. This would have pushed the total cost of this disaster to well over $1,200. They also claimed that my desired gray-blended look takes multiple sessions, something never mentioned in the consult or at any point before taking my money. Angelika had expressed total confidence that she could achieve the look. At this point, nothing made sense. How can stylists turn dark brown hair into pink, purple, or blue in a single appointment, yet somehow blending soft gray tones supposedly requires multiple expensive sessions? Either they lack the skill or they are price-gouging. I'm sharing this to save others from the time, money, and frustration I experienced. Always take a photo of the laminated service card--they rely on it, and you should too. My before photo, the inspiration photos I provided, and the results I left with were not remotely aligned. My 3-month gray grow-out is gone, and I paid nearly a thousand dollars for a result I never asked for.
