They got my appointment wrong and rudely told me I was fifteen minutes late and they would still accommodate me but I would get another stylist of the same caliber. Nope. When I checked after I left I found out she was two levels below who I had scheduled with and it showed. Cut way shorter than I asked and did not know how to cut vertical layers or even thin the ends as I asked. What I got was a blunt bob on thick hair that poofed out. Worst cut ever. My wife reviewed her bill and found out she was overcharged in excess of $100 and left with bleach damage hair on top of her head in a terrible location, extensions weren't even cut. Strongly recommend you reconsider. She use to enjoy coming here and thought we were paying for quality unfortunately that is no longer the experience. Really disappointed in the service at Salon 43 One. I have gone twice, got the same service and saw the same stylist. I liked the way my color turned out but my haircuts were very uneven. The stylist seemed to rush through the end. On both occasions, there was gossiping between the stylist about clients in front of other clients. I was really disappointed in the way the stylists talked about their clients behind their backs. Extremely unprofessional, unkind and will keep me from coming back a third time. read more

I've always had good experiences with my cuts and my child's cuts there until now. The quality of hair cuts is no issue. Had a appointment scheduled for 2:00. Got there at 1:50. Waited for 30 minutes. Nothing. It's not easy to take off the middle of the day as a single dad and take my son to a cut. After waiting half an hour we couldn't continue to wait all day. We left. Very disappointed. I'll consider continuing to come here but maybe with a different employe? They do great work. But I'm disappointed that I arranged my schedule around this for nothing. read more

I have always had a great experience here. I have used several different hair stylist and they have all been very friendly and nice. I have been happy with how my hair looks each time! A stylist at this salon ruined my hair; fried it to the point it was breaking off. Cost hundreds & months to get it back to health and in shape. Salon owner refuses even to discuss/respond, much less the "stylist." Just refers to their policy of no refunds & they will fix. I really don't want to write this review and have been putting it off since my last visit. I am not going to name names because I don't want to affect anyone's clientele. My stylist was so sweet and after my first visit my hair was perfect. After I returned and asked for the same thing I left looking nothing like my last visit (only 3 months prior). I was overcharged after being pressured to buy products and the cashier was incredibly rude when I was asking what the charges were for. My stylist spoke up and I thought everything was fixed but after I left I realized I had still been overcharged. I texted my stylist and she stated since I was charged for a haircut and did not get one I could come back in for another cut at a later date but did not offer a refund. To pay as much as you're going to pay here you have to be firm with what you want, don't walk away unhappy because they will fix it if you say something- I am bashful when it comes to this. I tried to point out that it wasn't what I wanted and I was told it was because I needed to come in more frequently. So maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm stupid and don't know how to talk to people, but I pay 1/3 the price for twice the quality now at a different salon. read more

I went to the Cahaba Valley Rd location this week for a half head of highlights and a haircut. My total was pretty much what I was quoted- however I know buzz words that will increase charges at a salon like this one. Even with the toner addition it was what I expected. I'm not sure of the seniority level of my stylist, but she was patient, listened and I got what I asked for. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. I was offered a beverage by both the front desk and my stylist. I'll definitely be back for another round of highlights in a couple of months. read more

Absolutely loved my appointment with Ashley!! I told her do whatever it takes to get my hair healthy and shiny and she gave me the best hair cut and style. She understands the new style of cutting and styling hair and I love how my hair turned out. I told her I loved how she curled her hair so she dried my hair smooth and then showed me how I can curl it at home just like hers. She was so patient and really made sure I was happy with the finished look. She also introduced me to a leave in conditioner that I'm obsessed with. I used to love Salon43one for balayage. I recently went to get my haircut for the first time here and my hair was ruined. One side was an inch and a half shorter than the other. I also asked to have my ends thinned out and have layers. She had no clue how to use thinning shears and completely ruined the ends of my hair. After leaving I had multiple people point out how uneven my hair was and I had to go to another salon to fix it. The other salon even commented saying whoever cut my hair had no idea what they were doing. If a stylist doesn't know how to cut hair I would way rather they just say so and save me time and money. Make sure you watch carefully if you get your hair cut here as they may ruin it. This is also not against the salon as a whole just the specific stylist I'm respectfully not naming. read more

After reading rave reviews I was very disappointed leaving Salon 43 one. The staff was not friendly or welcoming. Although I was not with a "senior stylist", the stylist I got was very rough with my hair when she was shampooing and blow drying. On top of that, when I called the salon to schedule my apt they told me the balayage started at $109. When I was finished and ringing up they charged me $220!! I was honestly in disbelief and when I asked why it was so much more she said it was because of toner and other products which the stylist never mentioned anything about. My hair is not what I wanted at all and I wish I never got it done. I am extremely disappointed. read more

Not good with blondes. I called and clearly said I needed someone who knew how to keep and reach a platinum blonde (my hair already had the right color I just needed a touch up and refresh the color a little bit). I wasn't able to see my final results because I left with my hair wet, as they charge to blow dry it and I was going to the gym so no point in paying. When I got home I had a dark/gray blonde, with roots (even though I mentioned I don't like roots) and the highlights did not blend in well, and I could clearly see some roots showing. I called and a nice lady who is the owner I guess said my stylist would fix it. Next day I was there and the stylist seemed very upset about me complaining but tried to be nice, she is a very nice person. She pulled several new highlights but did not reach the tone I wanted, now I have a brassy blonde. Not everyone knows how to pull a nice platinum blonde that's why I asked her before starting if she was sure she could do it. Now my hair is fried, dry, breaking and I have roots and an awful color. Loved my visit to this Salon! Erin B worked on my hair while I was in town and did a phenomenal job. She did a beautiful color job on my brunette hair. She darkened my root almost black and brought my ends down to a beautiful ash blonde. My hair turns brassy orange so easy and she managed to create a radiant, cool blonde that I love. The staff was incredibly friendly and was so gracious about me having my 3 month old nursing baby with me, especially my stylist Erin and Brittany the owner. The salon was incredibly clean and super trendy! I can't say enough great things about this salon. read more

My stylist is amazing. The owners are really nice and the atmosphere is great. You don't have to worry about that awkward conversation sitting in the chair for the first time. They have really great products(Oribe of women, and V76 for men)! The mens line is one of the best I have ever used and it seems to last a long time. When I went for the first time, my stylist took time to made sure she knew exactly what I was going for before she started, then she actually did what I wanted!! They also let me book 6 weeks out so I always get my Friday morning spot. (I go every 3 weeks). I love this salon and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. read more
