Yesterday I came in for a hair color appointment at 1:30. My hair was too light blonde and I wanted to go softer with a little more depth, like the photo I liked of my hair 2 years ago, and like the Pinterest board I showed her. I knew I was in trouble when she put the base color in. It was BRIGHT red. She kept saying that's why she doesn't like customers to see when they apply color, because it's a process with the blending and I get that, but that bright, un-natural, Ronald McDonald red was way off of what I was wanting. So, then she said she'd tone it down with some brown. It was just way too dark. She said she thought it looked good and that if I didn't like it, she's pop some highlights in it another time. Honestly, I don't know how I could have communicated better. I showed her the pinterest board. I showed her an older photo of me I liked. I told her I didn't want anything drastic. And that's what I wound up with....7 hours and $665 later!!! $150 of that was for a VERY light trim afterwards. Another part of that was a de-mineralization process. She also CHARGED me for THE COLOR REVISION when I DIDN'T LIKE the BRIGHT RED/BURGUNDY color she chose after I EXPLICITLY told her and showed her what I wanted. That, and she was juggling several clients at once. I get it that hair dressers do that, but this seemed excessive. She offered more than once to continue to work on the color in the future, but at this point my trust is gone. So, I will not be going back there. I had a long cry last night and my husband did his best to console me. He didn't like what she did either (which makes it worse). Fortunately, another colorist at a different salon has graciously offered to re-do my hair color tomorrow (At full price, of course.) Otherwise I would not go out in public again until this situation is resolved. It makes me cry to look at it!!!! Update: It's taken another stylist two salon visits and 7 hours to undo what happend to me at this salon. It's cost me as much as I spend a year on my hair, to undo what happened. read more

Rose is my hair savior. I needed so much help. Hair Reflections came highly recommended from trusted friends that have been coming here for years. I am 42 years old and I finally have a true hair professional "hair doctor" that has a full understanding of hair/scalp health and vision. I'm a curly girl with thick hair. No one has known how to cut it/color it to maximize its full potential until now. Rose was able to educate me on my water and the mineral build up on my hair and scalp. She fixed that with a demineralizer. Once treated, colored, cut, and styled, my hair was so soft and healthy it didn't even feel like my hair. It's the best thing that has happened to my hair. Their hours on here and on their website say open until 6 on Saturday. Came by at 5 after a pedicure nearby and the salon was completely dark and closed. No sign about early closure or anything to explain. Was planning on purchasing a good deal of Kerastase product and was hoping to see about booking an appointment. Might be better continuing to order online, and I guess find another place that's open for business. read more

LOVE Hair Reflections. I'm super picky about my hair, my stepdad works in the hair industry and have tried so many salons. Hair Reflections is my new favorite. Rose and Amy are amazing at cutting hair. Amy did my color recently and it was perfection! They are so knowledgeable and have been in the business for a while so they know what they are doing! I always leave feeling great, their whole staff is so friendly, I feel like I'm hanging out with friends the whole time! Buyer Beware! ASK FOR A FIRM PRICE BEFORE YOU ALLOW THEM TO START THE PROCESS. I have been having my hair cut and colored for over 30 years. I always get the same standard thing. Roots, some highlights, and a light cut (generally just my bangs and maybe tidy up edges). I did not ask for a price (my mistake) as I have had my hair cut/colored around the country and it is always somewhere between $125-$175. I do not change the color of my hair nor do I need it conditioned or "salvaged" as I do not use home coloring and I use salon recommended hair products. I visited the salon before making my appointment. It was clean and modern. The staffing seemed minimal but that was ok as I like a quieter salon. The stylists were local women, the one who ultimately did my hair had just moved to the area from the next small town over. After the standard 2 1/2 hour time, I got up from the chair to pay. I was flabbergasted when I was told it would be $322.71. I was so stunned and angry I just paid and walked out. This was my first mistake because Visa said I should have disputed it right then so by walking out after paying, there was no recourse on my part. I did not dispute it at that moment because #1 there was no manager on site and #2 I was so angry and I needed to collect my thoughts. I immediately placed a call to the salon and left a message to have the manager call me. She called the next day and was quite pretentious. She informed me that they are internationally known. I told her that having friends overseas that know your shop's name does not make you an internationally recognized salon. I told her that in all my years I had never paid that amount and that I actually had been to high end salons in Atlanta and Los Angeles. She said that I now lived in Birmingham (I told her I had just moved to the area) and that was the going rate. I told her that I had already been to 2 other salons in the city (I needed a salon closer to home south of Birmingham because of my work schedule which was why I was changing) and that I had paid $125 (Pelham) at one salon and $165 (Mountain Brook) at another to which she replied that obviously I had gone to a "box store" type salon. I informed her that I would never get my hair done at one of those places because I like to develop a long term relationship with a stylist (I get my hair done every 5 weeks) and I wanted a salon where the stylists were more fully trained. I felt insulted by her insinuation that I was trying to get a cheap hair cut/color. I told her as much. I asked her if the 6 other customers in the shop were paying $300 for cut and color and she said they were old/established clientele and of course they did not pay that. Wow. So you gouge your new clients to make up for the fact that you regular clients aren't charged enough? So all in all, she refused to back down on the price and even said that actually I should have been charged more. She did offer me a free haircut (that is laughable) and said she hoped I would return to the salon for future needs. I told her that I would not ever come into her shop again if those were the prices she charged. The haircut was just ok, the color was no better or worse than any other place I've ever had it done. The experience was not a bad one but the price was outrageous and ridiculous. (In full disclosure, the hair cut was $55, the highlights were $125, the color was $55, eyebrows were $20, the "special" conditioner was $45 which she refunded because I did not ask for nor was I told I was getting, and I purchased a bottle of shampoo at the ridiculous price of $21 but I believe in supporting small businesses so I always buy something) read more

My fiancé and I drove two hours to have Rose do our hair. We left feeling so happy and confident. He was able to get his hair short like he loves but still have plenty on his head to make me happy. Rose knows what she is doing! We will keep making the drive. read more

Love, love, love this salon!! I always have a great experience. The staff is very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and professional. I have been a client for about 3 years and could not think of going somewhere else even though they are 45 minutes from home. The products used on my hair make my hair feel wonderful even though I have full color. I am naturally gray now but my color is a beautiful red which never fades between visits (4 to 5 weeks). This place sucks quite frankly. Spent over $45 for the most pathetic haircut I have every received. I had to use a substitute in a pinch when my normal stylist left to go somewhere else. So I bit the bullet and walked out with a catastrophe of a regular man's haircut and I really don't need anything special. On top of that I am hearing the owner is going after former stylists in court who quit working for her because they can't stand dealing with the work atmosphere there. If you are inclined to go there I would strongly reconsider and spend your monies elsewhere. There are so many better (an FAR less expensive) places for a man to receive a decent haircut. Women, this goes for you as well. You could honestly do much better than Hair Reflections. read more

This place was just awful. I asked for long, blended layers and I got an outdated bookshelf layer cut. I even said- I "don't want a bookshelf layer cut" Now I'm going to spend the next 3 years getting these stupid layers grown back out. I may try and ask for a refund. read more

My daughter, who is extremely particular about her hair, went to Hair Reflections and had a wonderful experience! Amber gave her beautiful long layers and the soft "messy" curls she wanted. Her price was very reasonable, and the hair products used were of the highest quality. It was a lovely, high end experience at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend. read more

I walked in without an appt today about 4:40pm. I was met with courteous and friendly reception. I was told John Michael could take me in a few minutes. He was there almost immediately. He listened to me looked at my hair and said he would create a style for me. He did just that, I love my hair and will definitely go back! read more

Ok...so after 10 years of going to this salon (had my wedding hair done here too) and following them through three different location moves, I'm done. It's too expensive and takes too long and the wait just keeps getting longer and longer and the prices keep going up. A cut, color and blow dry takes an average of three hours and costs about $225.00. I just don't have the time and have found another hairdresser that does the same thing for $90.00 and I'm done in about an 90 minutes. Hair reflections puts no value of the customers time and is just too expensive. read more

My twin grandsons have finally found somewhere they agree gives them great haircuts.
