I don't even know where to begin with this review, but it's going to be a bit long and rather emotional. I've been a bit reluctant to tell the underlying situation and how this began, but I decided to, simply because this can happen to anyone. This began when I lost my beautiful Mother, which was also my best friend. The depression, despair, grief, sadness, and loneliness was so much more than I could handle. The day I lost her, I gave up on everything, including myself. I had completely let myself go for over a year. I became a prisoner of my own mind, therfore, I struggled to even leave my home. I had a lot of embarrassment about my situation, because of letting myself go. Because of this, it took me even longer to address my very neglected matted hair. I felt very helpless and hopeless and figured my hair would need to be shaved off. My hair is thick, naturally curly and was a lot longer than I had realizes. I kept it put up, but could feel the weight and bulk increasing. I felt humiliation, but it was due to being inside of my own head. I had zero self confidence and no self esteem. Something had to give! This was very unhealthy for a few reasons, but I had to do something, even if it meant that I had to have my head shaved. Continuing to not address the situation was also a constant reminder of how this began, which was horrendous grief and depression from the loss of my Mother. I had heard that Michael is a great stylist, so I scheduled a consultation with him. I was very nervous because I don't make it a habit to even go to a salon, other than for a regular haircut. (The last cut has been over 3 years ago.) Michael was so sweet and willing to try to help me, but of course, there was no promises of how this would turn out. We went into this journey blindly together, but the fact that he didn't turn me away gave me a tiny bit of hope to hold on to. To say that I put him and his skills to the test, is an understatement! Because of the emotional whirlwind I've been stuck in, I really didn't want to be sitting in the middle of a salon with people watching or judging. In my mind, I felt like I'd be on display, which was the last thing I needed or wanted! Low and behold, Michael was able to put up a portable makeshift "wall" in the shampoo room, which was such a blessing, and such a relief! My first appointment, it was a consultation and a bit of going through my hair. Michael managed to make it through a small section, then put it up for the next appointment. He was as gentle as he could be, but also often asked me if I was okay. My second appointment was a full day. I never in my life would've thought I'd need to sit in a hair chair for several hours straight, but... there I was! Micheal attempted to work his way through my hair very diligently, but... it wasn't working out. This was very time consuming. I finally asked him to just cut the mattes out. Michael had freed my hair from my head, which was such an amazing feeling! What a relief! I could feel through my hair, all the way to my scalp! I had showed Michael a picture of the inspiration for my cut, which he seemed confident in. Whether he was or not, I don't know, but his confidence in his abilities helped me tremendously. He shampooed and conditioned my hair, and went to town with the final touches. Michael had shaped my hair just as I had shown in the picture. He put the products in my hair and began to diffuse it. My hair felt so soft and silky, more than it had ever been before. I sat through the entire appointment without a mirror, which is exactly the way I wanted it. I didn't want to see the process. I just had to trust him. After drying my hair, I felt it for the first time in over a year. I went to the bathroom to look, and all I could think is "Oh my gosh, I still have plenty of hair, but my curls are back!" I can't even put how I really felt into words. I was elated, but there were also plenty of tears throughout the process, but the tears that I cried towards the end were for the help and kindness he had shown me. I walked out of the bathroom holding my head up, which was the first time in over a year. Yes, Michael done that! A little bit of kindness and non judgment goes a long ways. This experience has given me hope for myself, but I also no longer look in the mirror and see the hell that I've endured for over a year. The grief is something I'll have for a very long time, but Michael helping me was more than he realizes! I did not know him beforehand, but he's now stuck with me. He's been such a blessing to me! I gave him such a big hug. He truly helped me in many ways throughout this experience! I know my mother would've been so hurt to know that I've let myself go after she left, so this was for both of us! If anyone reading this is in a similar situation, please don't give up on yourself. Know that there are people in this world than can relate to what you're going through, but also know that you're worth it! read more

So I went in for my birthday gift. I go to the cashier and she starts off rude like I'm incovencing her. I ask for my gift I name two items she *rolls her eyes at me and says "1". I mention I'm at the point system where I receive two gift but if that's incorrect that's fine. She says "email" like talking to a kid. I mention what as she's not speaking in full sentences. "I need your email for the gift" I mentioned I do have it on hand. *she rolls her eyes. She then continues to sigh and mentions on her radio "this person wants two gift for free and I told her no and she keeps wanting more". Again I only mentioned it once. The girl at the register next to her was trying to be kind to me and mentioned "yeah I heard about that too". I mentioned the Ulta in Camelback mentioned and gave me a receipt that list the perks. She asked me to pull it out at this time I did not have it as I thought I did not need to show proof of their OWN policies. The mean girl said loudly "no she just wants free stuff as no one knows what you're talking about". In front of customers and she was rude to the other cashier. I was so embarrassed and honestly sad on how I was treated. I will not and have not been back since Dec. I was not being mean. I do know how to hold my own but that day I did not and went home to cry lol. **It's not about the gift it about the way I was treated and the fact they don't know their policies. Like girl it's not going to kill me to only get one freebie worth $2 to make. *I found the receipt with the perks I was talking about I will add it to this. Again it was not Camelback that did me wrong it was Avondale's. I thought Sephora had the mean girls but I guess Ulta took their place. I will not place the employees that was rude name as I don't want her to be fired just everyone have a refreshed on customer care and policies. read more

This location needs more training on how to treat and approach their customers. Stopped by for some lip gloss one of my girl friends had suggested I try from Ulta . I just couldn't think of the name of the brand . As I came in no one greeted me nor asked if I needed any assistance. I had to find someone to assist me and when I did if felt discriminated against. Let me start by saying that Imani was phenomenal! She was patient and kind, she answered all of my questions and assisted me in purchasing my Clinique skin care products, an entire set. Plus make up. However they were out of stock for the foundation that worked best for me. She gave me a small sample to take home until they got the product back in stock and said to check back in about a week.( let me also say that I can't just wear just any brand of makeup, I have lupus and psoriasis) Unfortunately each of the 5 times that I returned to purchase the foundation I encountered some very bad customer service and uncaring staff members! The last time I went in I attempted to explain my frustration with having to return 5 times just to get the foundation; I ended up in an actual argument with one of those staff members to the point that I will NEVER EVER shop at Ulta again!! And her manager was standing right there listening to the entire exchange! Now the manager knowing that I was beyond upset offered to at least allow me to take a picture of the correct foundation so that I could go to a place of my choosing to purchase the product. I'm disgusted that this is what passes as customer service these days! I spent 20 years in that industry and that is not at all what I know to be true good customer service!! I don't how I missed that I hadn't reviewed them yet! I came here to get a haircut, I was a first timer. When I called I talked Lindsay and she was so friendly and explained a lot. I looked forward to my haircut. Needless to say she did not disappoint. Lindsay is amazing! She is so thorough and always questions to make sure you get the haircut you want. I have also done color with her and does great! My hair always feels healthy and happy after every haircut. You can tell they use good quality products. I have since then been coming to her for my haircuts. They always send a text reminder which is nice or give you enough time to reschedule, I've never had issue with that. I also used the brow bar before and the lady who did my brows was nice and did a good job but I do find that is a bit expensive for brow service. I was so excited to stopped by this brand new Ulta location. I heard from my hair stylist that it had quite a few more options than the long standing location a couple of miles down the road. The one I have lived at for the past 12 years. Love it so much, the majority of the staff knows me by name. We are in a hugging basis when I recognize one of my awesome staff members. Sadly, at this new location, it was Saturday afternoon and it was madness. I only got asked if I needed help once. It was very rushed and dismissive the minute I said no thank you. I walked every inch of that store and the couple of things I was looking for were items I haven't used before so like a pro, I tested it on my wrist. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring myself to do so. The place has only been open for a month or so and every sample I looked at, whether for my own sampling or just looking at new items I've already known about and ready to buy, looked like a ONE YEAR OLD had grabbed everything and decided to play with it as toddlers do. They look dirty, product running over the item and around the actual item. The palettes are missing from the testers already. Actually, there are so many testers missing. One of the items I was looking for I already own but needed a lighter shade since we are in winter season, not being out by the pool all day, I needed a couple of shades lighter. Not possible, they were so gross looking, I didn't even want to touch them. And let me tell you, this was on the upscale, if you can call it that, side of the store. When I walked over to the drug store item side of the store same issues. The ladies are walking around excited about their plans, talking about their gossip and from time to time come over and asked if I needed help. A few of them were actually helping customers who had questions but over all, it was a circus. I will go back on a less busy day and hope the areas are cleaner. The location down the street may have low reviews for other reasons but never for a dirty selling floor. We'll see what happens next time. read more

I made an appointment for my mom b/c I couldn't do her makeup ( I have experience doing makeup) just to tell you they DID NOT fill her brows in b/c they "thought" she didn't need to. I had my bridal makeup done here and was thoroughly pleased. Anilu did my makeup, and she was great! She would stop from time to time to let me check the progress, and went light with my makeup until I saw it and approved changes (like more sparkles in my eyeshadow). Writing this review as an avid Sephora customer. I really wanted to get my eye makeup done for a family shoot I had scheduled and Dana helped me right away. The store was pretty busy with the launch of Kylie cosmetics but that didn't affect my quality experience in the slightest. Dana not only exceeded my expectations on my eye makeup but she was still making sure that shopping customers were getting the help they needed and was an amazing multitasker :) I loved how nice and inviting all of the employees were and that none of them seemed "put off" by helping any customers even with how busy they were already helping customers with applying makeup etc. I'm so glad they added this location and I've been back a couple of times since. I went here to get my hair done as my boyfriend got me a gift card for my birthday. First, they did make my hair really soft with their hair treatment so they did a really good job on that. It's looks so much healthier however, the overall result of the color was not like I expected or near what i wanted. I got my hair dyed. I wanted black from my roots and then near midway, I wanted it to go to red. She literally left my roots black and just dyed all of the blonde red. I can still see blonde in my hair mixed in with the red. She cut my hair a little shorter than I would have liked but hair grows back so I'm not too perturbed about that. I came to this ulta ever since it's been opened and today will be my last time. Went inside with a couple girlfriends and we were being watched not just by 1 or 2 employees but by 4 of them. It was pretty obvious. My friends and I watched all these employees watching us the entire time we were in there. Following us or standing from a distance and speaking into their mics. AND STILL nobody asked us if we needed help or anything else. I understand they probably have people stealing from the constantly but that has nothing to do with us or our shopping experience. DO NOT get your eyebrows waxed here. A family member went in for a brow wax & left with her skin ripped off. Her skin is red & parts of her skin are bleeding. I saw one of the gals (shorter lady, long thick black hair in pony tail, didn't catch her name) circulating the area after helping a customer find a foundation. I asked for help, she was friendly and knowledgeable of the products, which would be best on me at my price point, knew where they were located, didn't waste time but didn't rush me. She also didn't try to over sell to me either, but made sure I had everything I was looking for. Great customer service.
