I had the signature Ulike Milk Tea. It's a black milk tea that came with flan and boba The flan was AUTHENTIC. The tea was also fairly strong and fragrant. I liked everything except that the tea level came pretty far from the brim. I ordered less ice though, but even then the milk tea was a little less than I expected. Came to visit this town for a wedding. A boba stop is almost mandatory at this point. I looked on Yelp and found ULike tea, which is a cute, small comfortable cafe. The space had ample seating. Staff were very pleasant and fast. We got our drinks pretty quickly. The drink was surprisingly not as sweet as I would have expected for 100% sweet which is a good thing for me. Just know that if you're expecting sweeter or less sweet, it may err on the side of less sweet. Boba is pleasantly chewy without being overwhelmingly sweet. Slightly pictured is the avocado smoothie behind which my fiancé got at 25% sweet. If it were me, I'd get it at the normal sweetness level. Middle of most Southern TX, this is probably the best boba you are gonna find. Unfortunately, since there is very few tea shops to choose from, hence the price is a lot higher than California. The service was good. The Cafe is cozy. They serve a variety of Taiwanese snacks but I didn't try. So I can't say how authentic the snacks are. By the looks of it, the flavored tea are all made out of syrup instead of real ingredients. Such as taro is made with taro flavored powder than actual blended taro. But it's in the middle of southern TX, it will do. The tea with boba is already sweet. I usually order non sweeted tea if boba added. Because the boba is already either cooked with honey or sugar. However, my tea was still overly sweet. Probably most suitable to local patrons. In Los Angeles area, this place would get 2 star rating from me at the highest. It gets bonus to a 3.9 out of 5. I visited since I was on a work trip in McAllen. I've also been to their main Houston location since its only a few miles from my house. Inside there are 6 tables and some bar seats. They sell snacks by the register as well as Boba bear plush and lucky cats in different sizes. This time I tried the "fruity tea" since I had already had a fruity Mexican drink at lunch. The cashier said this one is a good starter drink and isn't too sweet to begin with. I went with 75% sugar it seemed to be a good level. Just a hint of sweetness. There are 5 fruits either floating or sunk to the bottom of this one. Many customers order their drinks to go, but there were a few dine in customers as well, including myself. I got 50%, which was good. I'll probably go down to 25% next time, but that's personal preference. I really loved that the tea was made with fresh fruit. No powders, sweeteners or artificial concentrate. That's usually what I find at most tea places. The teas here are brewed fresh daily and made to order. No bottled teas and you can see exactly what's in your tea. They offer a wild variety of teas, including milk tea. It's about $6-7/drink. A tad steeper than average, but do appreciate the freshness. Ulike tea, I like tea, he, she, we like tea. Ulike Tea is a vibrant and cute cafe that is a great place to relax and hang out with friends. There are a ton of different drink combinations and toppings to choose from. On most of the drinks, you can also adjust your sweetness level. I'm so glad there's finally a great value and generous portion tea/boba shop in the Valley. My GF and I came here after seeing all the great reviews and Ulike Tea did not disappoint. The staff here is very kind and gave us an ample amount of time to digest the menu. We ended up going with the Youth Tea and added Lychee Jelly. It is a bit pricey if you decide to add toppings, so I hope that in the future, they could bump down the cost of toppings from 85 cents to 50-60 cents. However, you do get a very tall cup that is filled to the brim. The Youth Tea was very refreshing and not overly sweet. It had a good natural blend of pineapple and honeydew, which is needed in this Valley heat. I will definitely be coming back to try some of their food, especially the popcorn chicken. Whenever you visit, be sure to check out their Instagram ahead of time because they do offer limited seasonal drinks on certain weekends as well. Usually the places I go to in Houston will make it super sweet, but this one was perfect. Though I have to say it was more on the milky flavor and not very strong on Thai tea. I like mine brewed super strong. Also got to try the mocha freeze and was a good drink to wake up with!! Very solid mocha flavor. The cafe also has small bites, such as popcorn chicken to snack on. The RGV truly has a gem. I have been to many popular boba shops in places such as San Francisco, Houston, and Orlando and ULike Tea competes with them all as one of my favorites. Their attention to detail and deliciousness in their food has been consistent since opening. I recommend you try the matcha milk tea with flan or if you want something refreshing, the guava tea with apple jelly. They are always attempting to innovate, creating new wonderful drinks and serving authentic Vietnamese food. More importantly, the customer service is such that you feel welcomed and at home. I've been on the hunt for a tea/boba place that reminds me of my second Home Houston. I stopped by today cause I happened to be around the area and to my surprise I found this lovely place . First I got lucky they were having a lil kpop event going on while I was there. I like the selections of drink choices ( teas/smoothies) and plenty of drink " sinkers" (boba/jelly/pearls) and they have delicious snacks here as well! This was my first time ever trying boba and I am so glad I was able to experience it here at Ulike Tea!! We got to chat with the guy about this location and another they have in Houston, flavors, what makes boba great, the different options etc. Very very helpful from the moment we walked in we were greeted friendly and he had so much information for a first timer like me! I ended up going with a fruity tea that tasted like pomegranate with berries, I wish I could remember the name but it was amazing, I was even able to change the sweetness level to my liking. If you read the menu you'll also see they have food and snacks available which I can't wait to try next time I stop by. It was SO CLEAN and I cannot express how important that is in any business, they even had hand sanitizer on every table decorated next to a little plant! The color choices for the decor are so pretty, I love the yellow chairs. They have so many menu options. Their social media says they host little events and change their wall decorat (this time it was for international women's day - love that!) This place is such a hidden gem I love it.
