We ordered the following for take out: Vegetable fried rice was good but a little salty and greasy. The flavor and seasoning of the Mongolian beef was delicious. But the beef was a little hard. The problem with these dished are the portions. For such big containers, it's bearly filled and for the price, it is expensive. You kind of like get short change for your order. When you compare it to a Chinese take out, they bearly fill the big bowl container. Check out the pictures. Especially for the $12 fried rice and $19 Mongolian beef. The braised beef noodle soup was delicious but the broth was extremely salty. We added hot water to lessen the saltiness when we combined the ingredients with the broth. The beef was so soft. They easily separated with a spoon or fork. The place is decent and would probably come back. Just don't be surprised with the portions! It's not like a Chinese restaurant!

I stopped in for happy hour. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and was greeted and sat at the bar where Sara served me. The place was cozy just wish the bar stools were a bit higher to the bar. I had the Martini for $6 and the chicken fried rice for $8. The rice was really tasty and I liked my drink. All in all a good experience!

Cutest place to go with some friends or a chill date night. The service was excellent here, everything came out very quickly. The food was excellent, everything was super tasty and exactly as described on the menu. I have to give a special shoutout to the soup dumplings because they were to die for! My only regret with the meal was not ordering more. The desert was also as equally delicious. If you're looking for a great dumpling spot in Jersey, this is the place for you. I will definitely be back here very very soon.

Sooooo. I sat at the bar. Kevin was my bartender, he was absolutely AMAZING. All his recommendations were extremely good, especially the LYCHEE BERRY marg. It rocked my socks. Will be coming back just for him alone. My Soy Garlic wings were raw. I sent them back. The scallion pancake was a bit soggy and oil, but I still ate it and enjoyed it. The fried chicken dumplings were great! The drinks were to die for. The place was very cute, very picture worthy. I'll be back for sure.

Was craving dumplings especially with the cooler weather so I stopped by here with my family. Interior is surprisingly modern, clean, and nice. I love how there's a prep area where you can see the chefs prepping the dumplings (something about watching them prep makes me more hungry haha). Lots of seats and they have some booths which were comfy and cozy feeling. Lots of parking as well. Service was decent - I was seated quickly. Servers were nice and tried to check up on you but at times they did forget some things and when I do end up needing something, they were hard to get a hold of. We ordered a few appetizers which were okay, decent. I wish the cream cheese rangoons were crispier or had a thicker skin because I felt like the filling overwhelmed the entire appetizer. The popcorn chicken tasted like Taiwanese popcorn chicken- flavorful and salty. I sort of wish they came with a sauce (maybe like a spicy mayo or sweet chili) but I know that's not always the case. I ordered their spicy wontons and I was a tad disappointed. I usually like my dumplings piping hot and I felt like they were getting cold and dried out. The sauce was not spicy enough and it was too salty for my liking unfortunately. The braised beef noodle soup was decent. Braised beef was definitely flavorful. Overall, a decent experience. On the slightly pricier side for dumplings, maybe I'll come back to try their soup dumplings but I'm a harsh critic because there are very good soup dumpling places in NJ for a lesser price.

It is a bit overrated. The service is ok, tables are spacious and not that much crowded. Their dumplings are just ok, nothing outstanding other than colorful. Of course better than frozen.

Soup Dumplings: Good, flavorful and very juicy with pork Had the braised beef noodles: not as authentic, very salty, broth is not beefy. Had better ones in Flushing. Stir fry string beans: too salty, not so edible Shrimp Noodles: was alright but lack some flavor Popcorn Chicken: too dark, too salty Fortune cookie cheesecake: sweet and chocolate ty. Approved Service was ok not great, the staff were more concerned with talking amongst themselves. Though manager came to check on us once. Interior was modern and unique with yellow and red. Overall there are better places in Fort Lee, Flushing and Palisades Park

We were back at Ugly Dumplings again for a weekend family lunch. As usual the restaurant wasn't too busy around noon. The dining section and the bar still had the fresh glossy appearance. We ordered some of usual favorites, a whole lot of soup dumplings. I love the red (chicken) ones. We also got to know they have a secret flavor for the chicken wings, little bit spicy flavor. We also tried their new future menu item crab rangoon. It was so delicious. The middle was filled with flavorful cream and a yummy sauce on the side. Our server was super friendly. Drinks and food were served in such quick time. And of course I got to use my cash rewards towards the check, plus earned more cash reward for having their Toast membership.

Came for lunch on a Saturday. Love the decoration at the entrance and calligraphy on the walls. Upon arrival, the host greeted us and brought us to the table. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She recommended cream cheese Rangoons that's not on the menu yet. It was actually quite good. We also had soup dumplings, fried rice, noodles, karage and wings. All flavorful and we finished every plates.

The food was so delicious! I love that you can see the team members making dumplings on site. I was super hungry when I got there and the food did not disappoint! I loved everything. The flavors were bold and delicious. I had the fried dumplings , garlic soy chicken wings, garlic string beans, and the Shrimp fried rice. Our server was Kevin and he was super nice. Overall I would give this place a 10 out of 10! Great service, amazing food! It was clean, and trendy.

I absolutely love this place. Now don't get me wrong, they are not the best i ever had but they are really really good. I sampled like seven menu items and I'll list them by favorite to least. The spicy wontons awesome, soup dumplings sampler great, soy garlic wings incredible and juicy, fried chicken dumplings great full filling but somehow still light, chicken fried rice yum, chicken and broccoli good, diced beef and schezuan chili good. The service was a little slow but he was great and its kinda chill place to hang out.

Paying homage to the centuries-old cooking techniques of Shanghai, this establishment went from modest street snacks to amazing dishes. Located at Aviation Plaza in Linden, I've returned to Ugly Dumpling, which is a restaurant chain and has truly set a new standard for Chinese cuisine in the area where a few of my colleagues came for lunch today during their soft opening. Greeted by the host, we got a table immediately. Their interior featured a huge dining area, a bar, and a bao station where diners can watch chefs make dumplings, wontons, and dim sum in a contemporary design that was well-lit with lots of natural light exposure. With its signature dish being Xiao Long Bao, a Chinese dumpling filled with rich, delicious soup broth served in bamboo steaming baskets, their menu mirrors Din Tai Fung in Midtown Manhattan with dim sums, wontons, fried rice, noodles, salads, and desserts, but with much more reasonable pricing. We decided on the Cucumber Salad, Green Beans with Garlic, Chicken Fried Rice, Ugly Dumpling Sampler, and Pork, Shrimp, and Spinach Dumplings to share. The food presentation was simple and clean. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. First timer for some of us on having the Cucumber salad, which was unique and flavored really well. Each dumpling filling was bursting with flavor, and the wrapper was perfectly cooked. One of the standout aspects of our visit was the exceptional service from Jeff, our server, who was incredibly helpful, friendly, and attentive. He guided us through the menu with expertise. We also had the pleasure of exchanging words with the manager, Robert. We had a wonderful dining experience and can't wait to try others on the menu, which we can recommend.

Loved the braised beef noodle soup. The soup dumpling sampler is a must order to try all the dumpling flavors. They have a full bar with some great cocktails. Pretty cool to see the bao and dumplings being made. Will definitely come back.

For a variety of reasons once 2010 or so rolled around I stopped getting take out from Red Apple. Recently I wanted to grab some food for dinner so I got off my bus before my stop to grab some food. This is not a sit down restaurant. You go in and order your take out, sit on a chair to wait and then head out with your food. The place looks very much the same as it did over ten years ago but they added a Hibachi extension next door. When I look back at my older review, I really feel that I should have given it 4 stars, but Yelp ratings were a tad different back then if I recall correctly. I have to say that after all this time I am very sad to give it such a low rating now. I am very sure at this point that the owners of this place are not the same ones from years ago (at the very least the chef is different). I picked up three dishes and well...read on... SHRIMP TOAST This is a Chinese take-out classic that I remember having back in New York City from several Chinese places so I've had this dish a *lot* in my time. Usually you want it to be crispy but light with a nice chew on the inside where the shrimp paste is sandwiched between two pieces of bread. For the most part they did an okay job here but the toast was fried too long. Much of the outside ranged from black to dark brown when it should really be golden brown. The flavor was good but if it had not been overcooked it would have been better. COLD SESAME NOODLES This is one of my favorite dishes from Chinese take-out places. However, it is hard to find a place that does it *well*. Even when it is only "okay" however, it has some commonalities. Usually there are egg noodles with some type of peanut or sesame based sauce, scallion and sesame seeds. Some places also add hot sauce to give it some extra kick. What Red Apple gave me was...not this. Oddly, I"m not sure *what* they gave me. The noodles were warm, the topping was a vegetable medley with...onions? There was no sesame or peanut sauce. Really, the whole dish just tasted like a light veggie lo mein which was *bizarre* and not at all what I ordered. GENERAL TSAO'S TOFU This was one of my favorite dishes from this place so I was excited to have it again. Then I saw it and I knew something was wrong. Most General Tsao's dishes should have fried chunks of something (chicken, tofu etc.) with a thick red sauce that caramelizes around the edges. The sauce should have some sweet and savory elements (and ideally a tad of spice via peppers). What I got? Was...not that. The tofu chunks were in a runny, thin sauce that tasted *terrible*. It just tasted like sugary sauce with a pile of salt on it. It was so terrible I wound up eating a few bites and tossing the rest. I'm so sad to be writing this review. I really had hoped this update would be a 4* celebration of a place I used to go to but I think I'll be staying away for a while.

Delicious. Love their sesame chicken, half fried chicken & boneless spare ribs. Delivery extremely…read morefast.
