Ucic has become like a second family to us in a city where we have no family in the area. Our three kids are known by name and the staff are accessible, kind, and work hard to create a safe and welcoming environment for the kiddos. Cons: Horrible staff Inefficient and rude administration Toddler staff Claims to have 10+ years of experience but we find it hard to believe Expensive (not worth the money) Pros: School facility Flexibility of drop-off pick up hours Our experience: We have a 3 year old toddler. After 6 weeks (Aug - Sept 2022) of horrible and painful experience with this school and their staff, we finally decided to take our son out of this facility for his betterment. And we are so glad we did it. Since Sept 2022, he has been in his current preschool and he is super excited to go there everyday. Has started drawing/learning/arts, is super happy and back being himself everyday. We wanted to observe for few months if it was our son or UCIC school that led to the experience we had in Aug - Sept and hence this late review. To summarize, our 3 year old toddler is our second kid and we could not enroll him to out elder daughter's preschool as they only take potty trained kids. UCIC had great reviews online and hence the decision to enroll him to this school. Since 1st week, our son was scared to go to this school. He would cry continuously, from waking him up for school till he was dropped at the school. He would come home cranky and would not be himself post school, mostly timid and upset. Initially, we thought this was regular toddler situation where he needs time in getting used to going to preschool. But things continued to go south each day, and often he would be shivering to get into the car to go to school. His pediatrician was also surprised to hear about his behavior. We certainly were concerned and hence met the director (Amy) multiple times. This is where it became really evident that this was the wrong school for our little one. Director (Amy) in our first meet up mentioned that both teachers are female and he only feels comfortable with a male teacher around him. Her exact words and I quote: "he needs to respect females". This was her statement for a 3 year old toddler, felt weird to hear but we ignored it. Since he is very fond of his father, we had to explain to her that he might be looking for his father 's comfort in the male teacher and this probably should not be interpreted as disrespecting females. She promised that we (her and us as parents) will work to get things on track. Fast forward a week, and we came to know a family had the same issue with their toddler (with same teachers) and once they switched classes , their toddler was back being happy. we requested to change our son's class, but they said there were no other openings. Week 4. I am highlighting Amy's response to one of my email where the words that she used for our son was just not acceptable and we finally decided to just move him out of this school. Also, as part of the toddler program, UCIC promises to provide daily report card in terms of poo/pee, sleep and eating schedule. In 6 weeks, we received just 1 such daily report. The only response we got from the teachers was that our son would just continue to cry daily and not participate in anything and they cannot do anything as he dislikes us. Stay away from this school if you can. If your kid is not happy, in case you have enrolled here, don't ignore any red flags. We are glad we are not dealing with them anymore. I would give them "ZERO" stars if I could. Please do not enroll your child in this money driven business model in the name of school where teachers are also not greatly appreciated from management is what I can confirm based on my first handed experience. This school has a policy of "Drop off after 10 requires 24 hours' notice" - It is good to have a policy as school and teacher will have hard time scrambling if kids are coming in and out at their convenience. I am not against the policy BUT every parents out there please Tell me if it is always possible to "Predict" that late drop off beforehand? Dr's appointment/ other prior commitment can be predicted but your poor child had a rough night or woke up late than usual or had a fussy morning for any "XYZ" reason - Forget 24 hours you can't even give 1 hour notice. If you truly care about your students and their families you UCIC should make an exception but they don't -WHY? They let teacher go on their " Emergency Doctor Appt" based on my child is not going to show up for the day. I am surprised with the fact that if I had brought in my child then poor teacher probably won't have been allowed to go to her appt ? This is POOR MANAGEMENT , They can't figure out their staffing, sub, ratios etc and those repercussions are being faced by the students and their families. Luckily, for me I can stay home with my child but I can't imagine how much of an inconvenience this might and will cause for the parents who can't. I very regret moving my child from Kiddie Academy in Bothell to UCIC. I never had a single situation like this with Kiddie Academy of Bothell in 7 years of my experience combined between both my kids. UCIC, if you expect parents and students to gladly oblige to your rules and policies have some courtesy to make an exception in such dire circumstances where situations are not in the hands of parents. I have never written this long review ever, but this situation was very frustrating is an understatement. read more

UCIC Learning Center is located in Bothell near the business Park area. The school's curriculum is a Christian based education with a diverse group of children. Since the school is being operated out of a Korean American Church, there are a lot of Koreans children as well. At least 1/3 of the kids there seem to be Indian-American and the remaining children are comprised of a mixture of different ethnicities. I found this very enriching for my son, who now has the opportunity to experience many of the different cultures from his friends. The curriculum integrates many Christian beliefs into their education program. The teachers are also very diverse in their background and seems to complement the children's diversity. All schools will always have their pros and cons, but what I found appealing about the school is they are constantly trying to improve their curriculum and quality of teachers. My son thoroughly enjoys his class and teachers and I often find him drawing pictures at home to take to his teachers. read more

Last year this school was amazing and the communication we received from the teacher was great too! This year, well not so much! We had our little one in Pre-school and then this year Pre-K and we were not at all happy with how little communication we received first from their teacher and secondly they seemed to have gone thru some management turnover since it has become worse then last year! We had constant communication last year where this year I would send an email to the teacher and would not receive a response until maybe the following week! The other thing is last year our son was active and we knew what each day would consist of, like art, music or computer classes. This year, we went in almost blind and didn't find out he was in none of those activities until later on. Again, the communication has gotten worse from last year and it seems that they are not as caring as they were last year, anyway we are happy to be done with this year! If we had to recommend this place, we would not based on our experience with the new staff and their procedures, look somewhere else. read more

Our son has been attending UCIC since his first year of preschool when he was 3 years old and he absolutely loves his school! He is now 6 years old and just finishing up with his Kindergarten year. The teachers are wonderful along with the principal and staff. They provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children to learn and grow in a Christian school focused on a well-rounded education. Along with a strong academic emphasis, children also enjoy learning art, music, bible/scripture, P.E. and Spanish language classes. Our son began to read and write and count in preschool along with fun activities like music and art and organized field trips. He had so much fun while learning and loved going to school! He has grown even more in Kindergarten and loves learning just as much, if not more! We couldn't be happier about the quality of the teachers and the level of care and education they've provided for our child.
