Atmosphere is nice for an elevated type dinner occasion. Service was great. Food was delicious! Make sure to make a reservation. Lots of restaurants require reservations in Glasgow and Edinburgh

Pigeon Breast, Bramble, Chicory, Walnut

A Hidden Gem on Ashton Lane. Located on the fabulous and trendy Ashton Lane, this place is anything but typical. From the moment you step in, you can tell you're in for something special. The atmosphere is gorgeous -- a bright glass ceiling, lush plants all around, and a rustic stone floor that creates the perfect mix of romantic and relaxed. It feels ideal for a date night but also welcoming for families and friends. The food here is definitely on the high-end side, and while the portions are small for the price, what you're really paying for is excellence. Every bite showcases the chefs' skill, creativity, and attention to detail. The quality and flavor are absolutely superb -- the kind of dining experience you simply won't find anywhere else. We ordered the Pigeon Breast, Bramble, Chicory, Walnut , the Tenderstem Broccoli and the Organic Arran Leaf & Herb Salad with Mustard Vinaigrette, and both dishes completely blew us away. The flavor combinations were thoughtful, unique, and perfectly balanced. This is one of those special spots worth treating yourself to at least once. Whether it's a romantic evening or a celebration with friends, it's an unforgettable dining experience on one of Glasgow's most charming lanes.

Steak frites

This was a highly recommended restaurant in Glasgow so my friends and I came here for dinner on a weekday. We made a reservation in advance. Getting into the restaurant as a bit confusing (there's a bar on the bottom and you'll need to go up the stairs to enter the restaurant. We shared dishes family style but noticed other people had individual dishes. We ordered the following: - Burrata - the burrata was very fresh and the blistered tomato's were yummy - Calamari - rather on the small side, but the batter was light and crunchy - Falafel - I thought I'd like this more, but the falafel was a tad dry - Steak frites - a good plate to share if you're wanting some red meat, but not wanting to be too unhealthy - Mac and cheese - I can't get enough of dairy in the UK and this dish was no exception Service was on the slow side and we had to follow up multiple times to get water refills. The ambiance is really nice and bright. Washrooms are available by the bar area. It's a good spot for a corporate meal or a date night.

Enter into this magical place on the west end for the best dinner in Scotland, bar none! We started with the cured salmon with smoked roe, mackerel, bbq carrots and scallops. WOW!! Each starter had their own great flavor profiles and set our palates perfectly for what was to come. Be sure to meet Will who fully understands the menu and was quite fun to banter with a bit back and forth. Abbey was wonderful! She made excellent suggestions for our mains so we went with the venison, monkfish and lamb. Each was better than the last! Venison melts in your mouth! Monkfish was grilled perfectly and the lamb was pressed and almost like a confit!! Desert was just a awesome!! Raspberry sorbet with lemon tart, chocolate mousse and caramel as well as affagato using brown butter ice creme!! The experience was outstanding and the food was incredible!! Don't forget to get one or two Old Fashioned's from Matt who had been with the restaurant for 30 years!!! Don't miss this wonderful place on a quaint little alley on the west end!!

First time here was 30+ years ago, and from then to now the place has gotten both bigger and better. Great food, inventive, authentic, and oh so flavorful. Ask for a lemon or orange zest on your affogato, you won't be disappointed.

Downstairs dining

Tucked behind the bustle on Ashton Lane, enjoy something uniquely Ubiquitous. The downstairs dining room wasn't available so we ended up in a way better spot upstairs. Of course I was here with all the ladies who began taking pics of all the greenery, because rooftop dining in the rainy season here is an arboretum with great food. The rest were busy splitting a bottle of white while I enjoyed the Local Chip, which of course was exclusively brewed for this place. There are a few other UK locals if interested. The charcuterie was decadent yet different, featuring chilled shellfish, and they pulled it off. We skipped the small plates but gnudi and venison were tempting (besides it's "Chip's own"). As with the wine, this group seems to like similar stuff, so two got seabass and loved it. I was going Bavette steak all the way, and it was a solid choice. You'll also find some nice vegetarian dishes along the way. Somewhere in there they talked themselves into bottle #2, and why not? Affogatto does nicely for a pseudo dessert, and of course the sharers shared some lemon & poppyseed cake. Don't worry about missing out on menu items if you're upstairs either, because you'll have virtually the same choices. Great service and memorable eating made the evening go by too quickly. We'll hopefully return quickly.

Last dinner in Glasgow and it was great. Had the Bouillabaisse and BF had the Sea Bass with Lentils. Decent portions and both were between 21-23 pounds. Great atmosphere and staff were attentive.

I came for dinner on a Monday night. It was very busy, and I was glad I had made a reservation. It was a little tricky to figure out where to go to find my table. The part of the restaurant I reserved a table was in the upstairs area. When I arrived, I went upstairs. There wasn't any servers in sight so I stood there for about 10 minutes before I finally found a server and asked where I should go for my reserved table. The server was nice and gave me recommendations from the menu. The black bean and chickpea burger was on the bland side and was incredibly dry. The rhubarb and custard was excellent. Tangy, creamy and sweet. I think if I were to come here again, I'd book a table at a different part of the restaurant.

Scotch flight

On a cold February afternoon in 2020, before the world came to a standstill, we visited UK and enjoyed a light lunch, scotch and gin at Ubiquitous. We sat up in the mezzanine , enjoying the ambience. I forget what we ate, but recall it was very nice. The scotch flight I had and the gin flight my wife had were amazing. The pleasant memory I have of this place albeit with the detail faded, is testament to the greatness of the place. Recommended and I'll visit again when I can. Slainte!

The beautiful dining room

Quite simply I think this is the best restaurant in all of Scotland! Not only does it have a fine dining restaurant, but it has a casual upstairs bistro, and a pub, you really can't go wrong! This restaurant in this whole area of Ashton Lane was recommended to us by some friends from Scotland... This whole area is really great so spend the evening here and pop into a couple spots. This should be your spot for dinner 100%. We initially made a reservation in the high end dining room, but after looking at the prices and realizing we were in the mood for more casual and quicker dinner, we asked to switch upstairs to the bistro. They were happy to accommodate which was very nice. We had a very nice mix of lots of different food, they have a lot of different small sharing plates, as you can see from the pictures the presentation is incredible. The muscles were just amazing! The highlight though of the meal was the haggis... Something that can be done very terribly as a foreigner if you know what I mean... This was probably one of the best dishes I tasted on our trip, and obviously the best haggis I've ever had in my life. It's a 52 year old recipe and it does not disappoint, it basically tastes like the most perfectly seasoned ground up little bits of meat that have all the little gamey pieces and organ pieces that are interesting but not over the top. Served with purée of parsnips and potatoes and an incredible gravy that makes it just perfect. The highlight of our trip food wise!

Dessert of crowdie cheesecake- definitely a highlight and would recommend again

This place is gorgeous! Its definitely an experience to walk in here I loved all the indoor plants and the beautiful garden they created. They also had a fountain in the corner and the space is brightly lit since the roof is glass which lets in a lot of sunlight. They told me all the plants were real as well, and as a succulent lover, this place was my paradise! Great drinks, well mixed - i recommend the peach daiquiri. We got these to start. Haggis venison was outstanding and it comes with neeps and tatties, beautifully arrangled on the plate, I will say the portions are on the smaller side but if you're there for lunch its a good meal, dinner portions are larger they said. It is a little expensive for the price but just order more, you're paying for the space Dessert of crowdie cheese cake is showstopper and I highly recommend getting this if youre here. You can digest it by walking around ashton lane after that :) Great service- there is seating on top I recommend getting as high up to the skylight as you can but all the spaces in this restaurant are lovely. The staff is good and help with offering tourist recommendations as well as details on food presentation and helping with allergies Great bathrooms and lots of them so less waiting. Also uniquely spaced and interesting layout of the whole restaurant

The mallard duck entree

The location is a bit quirky, but the food was amazing. It was one of the best meals I have had all year. Service was impeccable and lovely ambiance.

BLUF: Best meal I had while in Scotland. This is a cozy…read morespace that you can easily dress up or be casual in. The service is very friendly and attentive. The menu has so many Scottish foods in it, there's no doubt this is a Scottish fare restaurant. I did have to look some of it up because even other Scottish restaurants hadn't had things like cranachan or rumbledethumps on their menus. Ordered were: bread, beef stovies, lamb rump, slow braised beef short rib, cranachan, and chocolate brownie. The beef stovies is beef stew with a potato pancake hat served in a cast iron cauldron. Very cool presentation, and quite a tasty stew inside. I liked the small cut of everything, so it was easy to eat. The lamb was so tender and flavorful, without being overcooked. I substituted rumbledethumps for the polenta so I could try some, it was a lot like mashed potatoes with some extra flavor in it from the cabbage. The black garlic emulsion was a little earthy but went with the lamb so well as a result. My only fault would be the mint drizzle being too sweet for my taste. The short rib was masterful, essentially fall off the bone, and a good herby rub. The desserts were a step down from the mains. The cranachan felt like it had bromelain in it, breaking down my tongue as I was eating it. Outside of that sharpness, a very tasty and solid dessert. The brownie was heavy and fudgy, so if that's your type of brownie then it's here for you. Otherwise it's too much on a stomach already packing the amazing dinner preceding it. All in all, what a place, what a meal, recommended.

In the end I decided to try the haggis, neeps and tatties to start, I never took pictures of the menu so I forget the exact description of the dish. My first thought upon seeing my dish was wow! There was a puddle of glossy gravy, in the middle was a large haggis cake topped with neeps and a fritter....yes a freakin FRITTER!! I was beside myself as I am sure by now you know how I feel about fritters. The food was utterly gorgeous and without fault, the haggis was tasty and slightly spicy, the neeps were light and creamy, and the fritter was crisp and perfect. Gorgeous! For my main I finally decided on the Chicken breast with Stornoway black pudding, creamed leeks & a red wine jus with a side of Rooster tatties & market vegetables to share. Again visually it was so beautiful to look at. Taste wise it was amazing, the chicken was moist and tender, the creamed leeks still had bite and were seasoned to perfection, the big wedge of black pudding was soft and crumbly, the mash was silky and the red wine jus was lush and decedent. The side was also a triumph - the roasted potatoes were crispy golden nuggets of joy and the veg was incredibly tasty, I even liked the broccoli (I hate broccoli) but I loved however they cooked it. After all that food dessert was touch and go for a while, but there was no way I could leave without trying the Puff candy meringue with honeycomb, ice cream & hot butterscotch sauce. Now lets not kid ourselves this dish it basically a plate of sugar in various forms.....but boy what a plate of sugar it was. The puff candy meringue was light and delicate, the honeycomb was crunchy and sweet and the butterscotch sauce was thick and creamy. This dessert is as good as desserts get. It was a stunning gift from the sugar gods! All in all a pretty exceptional meal and up there with the best I have eaten in Glasgow without question. This is a must try restaurant for me and I will definitely visit again very soon.

Went to The Sisters on Monday 30 of April for my grans birthday with my mum and sister in law. I…read morebooked a fab deal on 5pm which was 3 courses for £12. It had a great variation of choice and I couldn't wait to go. I had booked lunch for 12:30 and found it a bit hard to find to be honest and the time I put enough money (fingers crossed) in the on street meter we were a tad late. We were sat next to a lovely cosy fire and ordered out starters straight away, 3 soups if the day which was a vegetable broth and one haggis, which was for me. When the soup came my gran gingerly told me it was cold and my mum and Megan agreed. Unfortunately they had to send it back whilst I tucked into my haggis which was lovely, so full of flavour and the gravy that was with it was lovely. For the main course myself, mum and Megan opted for the rosemary chicken with Stornaway back pudding and mash. My gran went for pork shoulder with apples and mash. Presentation was lovely and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their mains. When the waiter mentioned sweet, none of us hesitated and it was an OF COURSE response due to all the incredible things I've heard about the honey comb meringue and my god they weren't wrong. 4 bowls arrived at our table in a sea of hot butter scotch sauce, sprinkles of honey comb with the meringue sitting proud in the middle with honey comb ice cream on top and to finish more honey comb on that. WOW. The chef even wrote happy birthday on her plate and she was over the moon about that. Well with the money and we all felt satisfied without feeling we had over ate. Lovely place for lunch but next time I will be back to try their A La Carte.
