    Sticky toffee pudding

The food was outstanding and our waitress was lovely. The three course dinner (available before 6) was phenomenal and we highly recommend it. Every recommendation our waitress made was spot on- vegetarian haggis, seafood stew, smoked salmon, skink, sticky toffee pudding.... All just wonderful. The hostess almost scared us away but we are glad we stayed because everything else was just wonderful.

While taking a day trip to Glasgow, walked what seemed like forever off the beaten path to have small bites at this restaurant located across from the theatre that was showing Hamilton. We weren't really hungry so we ordered a couple of appetizers and drinks. We ordered the scallops and an order of potatoes. I ordered the elderflower and cucumber fizz mocktail. OMG! The scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious! I was tempted to order more but needed to head back. The mocktail was so refreshing and the perfect composition. Who needs alcohol when you can have this! This restaurant was filled with a very mature crowd who looked professional. I didn't see anyone under 50 except wait staff. The aesthetic wasn't exciting and dated, and not the kind of cool dated one appreciates with pubs that have been around for 100 plus years. Nonetheless, the food and drink were delish and the service very efficient. The price point was on the higher side so come prepared if having at least a 2 course meal to spend about $33/pp. for entree alone.

I'll preface this review by saying that our server wasn't a big fan of two young ladies, dressed in leggings/hiking gear, laughing their heads off during their whole meal. He could've been nicer but he wasn't and when his shift was done just before we were done with food, nobody bothered to tell us who our new server was going to be. So, the service could be better. It wasn't like we were making fun of him. The restaurant itself is nice, semi-upscale. We made a reservation just in case and I'm glad that we did. It was pretty packed for a Tues night. We ordered the black pudding fritters, the appetizer version of their Haggis, the pan seared fillet of cod, the Cullen skink and the cranachan for dessert. The black pudding fritters were excellent. They came with a marmalade and a salad which were very good too. The cod was delicious - melt in the mouth with a side of wonderfully warm and creamy lobster bisque, a crunchy potato mash and a finger licking scallop roe cream. The Cullen skink is the Scottish version of a clam chowder - this was less creamy than what clam chowders are like, but delicious all the same. The Haggis was ok. Nothing outright bad about it but I had better haggis in Edinburgh. I'm glad we took the appetizer size, not the entree size. The cranachan was lovely. I'm not a big fan of oats, but if you give them to me with raspberries, cream and liquer, I will eat the whole thing! The pricing is on the slightly expensive side. But overall, the food was good and we had a good time.

We came in because I saw their market menu and felt it was a good value and I wanted to try traditional Scottish food. The ambience is nice and warm and buzzing. For the market menu, the appetizers were tastiest and the main courses were okay but not as interesting. In retrospect, I'm not sure if it was as good of a value as I thought especially since I saw better items on former market menus. The service was extremely slow and disorganized. It was really unclear who our waitstaff was and we had a really hard time getting their attention. They were very friendly but we had to ask multiple times for basic things and they would say yes and go do something else for another table or even chat behind the bar. When it came to the check, we ended up having to go up to the counter to pay because we waited so long for someone to come check us out. We spent over two hours here and mostly waiting and trying to get the attention of any staff member.

My husband and I made reservations for this glorious restaurant in Glasgow. It was some of the best food we had while in Glasgow. The restaurant is beautiful and I loved the aesthetic. The cocktails were delicious and well made. We had their take on haggis, neeps and tatties to start. It was very good and among some of the best haggis we had. For dinner my husband got sirloin and chips on the side. I ordered the market seafood stew and was in heaven. The stew was so delicious and the perfect t temperature, I still think about this meal all the time! Visiting this restaurant is a great memory for my husband and I. We loved the service we received and would gladly return again!

Scottish comfort food. The room is inviting and comfortable. The menu has many traditional dishes - each of them is delicious. We particularly enjoyed the Cullen Skink and Haggis. The service is helpful and attentive.

We loved everything about our experience here. The food was outstanding and fascinatingly different to our American palates, the three course dinner was a solid value for the location, the menu was interesting and varied and our server Grear could not have been sweeter or more helpful. Ask for her!

We came to this place for lunch and left extremely satisfied. The interior is tastefully decorated, felt very cozy and warm. We ordered the 3-course market menu and it was a lot for both of us. We had to take some of the food home. Everything was delicious and just the perfect amount of flavor. The market menu offers a great variety of dishes to try: We started with the soup and the goat cheese, then had our main plates: the chicken and the venison stew. Both were great and very filling, and it was so much food we had to take some home. Lastly, we got this amazing toffee bread pudding with a side of ice cream. It was to die for, so good and tasty. Would definitely recommend coming here for lunch. The beer selection is good and the whiskey choices were also plentiful.

What a place, so sophisticated, charming and authentically Scottish, expect stag's, haggis and whisky and Scottish music playing gently in the background. Staff were welcoming, accommodating and on the ball, service was fast and efficient and food was delicious, I chose something a little different which was the rhubarb and green lentil curry with basmati rice, flatbread and toasted cashews which doesn't sound like a great combination but it was superb! I had 3 courses and expected the bill to be expensive but was shocked by how reasonable it was for such a classy place, I would highly recommend visiting, you won't regret it!

Absolutely delicious!!! And the service was stellar! The restaurant is inviting and a wonderful place to be! We had the Venison and the langoustines as our meal and the whipped goat cheese with beets for the appetizer! The dessert was also spectacular! All around a wonderful place to eat! Thank you so much!

In town for a conference and this place was recommended. Was MUCH surprised by this very up-to-date rustic/farmhouse chic vibe. The menu was small but filled with delicious options. I had the langoustine appetizer and the venison pave dinner. AHHHHMAZING. I asked the waiter for a sweet cocktail (I don't like being able to taste the alcohol) and he recommended the French Martini. Perfect complement to the slightly spiced venison.

I believe the mezzanine is free to hire during the week. First up - this place is really, really dark. I actually don't even know how it's so dark, even in the middle of the day. It really does take a bit for your eyes to adjust to the place. The decor is a bit outdated but nothing offensive and the mezzanine space is great as it's actually quite bright and cosy without being squashy (mind your head if you're tall!). There's a good wine list and they are reasonably priced. We had a few platters for our group - vegetarian and meat - and they both seemed to be very well received, particularly the red pepper hummus on the veggie platter. From what I remember, the platters are described as serving 2 people but I'd actually say it's more like 4 as they're really quite big. On the night we visited, it was really busy as it was Easter Thursday and so our reserved area was hotly sought-after by people looking for a seat. When I was leaving later in the night, there was lots of rowdy blokes downstairs so that was a little off-putting (but I was on my way out anyway). I expect that on a normal night this is a quite a pleasant bar to hang out in.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that all the food was that of the light bite nature - the pate and oatcakes went extremely well with my choice of wine (or so the waiter told me; to me, they were just incredibly tasty). Trying to choose which glass of wine I'd like was the hardest part - they have over 13 pouring wines, ranging from pinot grigios to prosecco...mmm... and that's not including the hundred other bottles we could have had (not that I would spend anywhere near £218 on a bottle of anything). It's a nice little place - it's got a rustic feel about it, and is frequented by a generally older crowd (ok, I'd say maybe 75% of the customers had greying or white hair, which isn't a bad thing, but I'm 20-something, and it's not EXACTLY my kinda place). I can see why it's popular - the food, the wine, and the ambience - and it has made me actually reconsider my initial statement - however, I may be a few years off becoming a regular, as yet.

It's just a few steps off the main drag in Radnor Street (opposite the end of Kelvin Way), and seems to have been a burger bar in a former life. It was a Monday night, so they weren't exactly busy, and so the service was friendly and attentive, and we were soon tucking into our starters. We had the hot smoked salmon and asparagus as a starter, and straight away I realised that the food was going to be great, as the asparagus was cooked to perfection. Often the ends of the stems can get a bit stringy, but not here. Not stringy and not limp, just perfect crunch. For mains, we both had the pollock, which is a fish you don't see that much here, although it is becoming more popular. The portion size seemed a bit small, but in retrospect it was just right as it left room for some pudding! Again, the veg were cooked to 'al dente' perfection. However, the weather forecast was for rain! After a bit of head-scratching, we realised that Princes Square offered the perfect solution; we could sit 'outside' the restaurant but still be 'inside' the vast atrium of Princes Square and protected from the rain. Perfect! Sadly, we weren't allowed any alcohol as current restrictions prohibit drinking outside. I know, I know... we were still technically 'inside', but I wasn't prepared to argue the point. I'm not usually a huge fan of tapas eating - I prefer a more conventional starter/main course style of ordering, but with three of us we were able to order a good selection of dishes - their recommended three each - providing a good smorgasbord for us to choose from. The dishes were all very tasty, I particularly liked the Cocido de Judias Blancas (aka bean stew), and Patatas Bravas are always a favourite. I was a little disappointed with the Dorada a la Parilla (sea bass); given that it was one of the more expensive items on the menu, the portion size was a bit measly. It was, however, cooked just right. Clean plates all round and we were all satisfyingly full afterwards. Apart from a minor glitch on the drinks order - they forgot to bring one and I had to go and remind them - everything else was fine. So a thumbs up from us, and I'll happily return here in future.
