These guys at Ubersport are really nice guys and easy to work with. I got a turbo kit installed for my 13 Subie BRZ and its running pretty darn good. They gave me a good deal that I could not pass up on. Kelly is the shop owner, the man, and Kevin is the tuner. The rest of the guys at the shop are pretty cool and very friendly. They have a lot of knowledge with Subaru cars so if you own one I would recommend this shop. If you are looking for a decked out, "pretty" and overpriced garage look elsewhere. I've been taking my 2011 STi to these guys since I purchased my car and I don't trust anyone else touching my subi. These guys are subaru specialists and know what they're doing. Long story. I bought a 2007 Subaru Legacy GT wagon (auto) with a check engine light. It was a deal I couldn't pass up. I took it to Kelly, the most down-to-earth shop owner I have ever met. He came out of the shop and approached me. That was a first. He showed me what was wrong with the car and replaced the necessary parts. But, this is where it gets good. The check engine light appeared again. I have an automotive background and would have done the same. This isn't a fault of the shop. The previous owner, simply did not know how to fix the issue. I knew it would be a lot more complicated. He recommended getting the ECU tuned. The parts on the engine were doing everything correctly. The ECU just didn't know what to do with the corrections. I took the car out for a 100-mile drive. I wanted to make sure it was legit. Not only did the car perform with a little more pep, but my gas mileage went up as well! My 06' STi started to burn a lot of oil and then started to misfire. I brought it to Ubersport after calling several shops in the area for diagnoses and Kelly, the owner, determined that it was a broken ringland and headgasket. It was verified after the teardown. So, I decided to let Ubersport rebuild my motor. Let me just say that this was the best decision that I have ever made. I went with all the recommendations that Kelly made and let me just state that the new motor exceeded my expectations. Along with all the forged internals he recommended that I go with higher compression pistons for better off boost response and quicker spool up. Boy was he right, the turbo spools a lot quicker and the car is so much more responsive and fun. This is the motor the STi should have come with. I have so far put 2,500 miles on the car and the motor feels very strong. If you have a Subaru, Ubersport is the place you want to take your car for service and repair. I don't think there is anything that they can't do and their prices are really fair. Kelly's customer service is top notch and he is just so great to deal with. As long as I have my STi I will always take my car to Ubersport for service and repair. read more

I appreciated the fact that he took his time to not only install it correctly, but he made sure the wires were all neatly tucked into the frame. I had taken my subaru here to get the engine rebuilt because of the headgasket leak. They did a good job for my car being there two weeks. The only complaint is that your things might get stolen because they have an open parking lot where anyone can come by and walk around. It does state on their printed paper that they are not responsible for stolen items or damages to your car.... Well I had just barely noticed but my subaru owners manual is missing and two personal items which I had all in the glove compartment. Obviously I had emailed the company and they stated for me to look under my seats. I had actually looked all over my car and home. They can actually get work done.. My review can be summed up in a simple phrase: that was easy. I've had a Subaru Legacy since 2001. I had to say goodbye to my '01 in 2011 and replaced it with a 3.6. Warning! Do not bring your car here for engine swaps. They should just stick to tuning and oil changes. They talk a big game about how they can swap your engine I'm two weeks and how they heat shrink all your wiring ect.. ect.. it took them more than 3 months to do the engine swap and they couldn't even tune it or get it running properly afterwards. Pretty much told us to pick it up because there was nothing they can do. They blamed it on the engine purchased. Took it to Subieshop performance in Oceanside and when they pulled the engine to see what was going on, a lot of wiring in the engine was not only done incorrectly, but was just wrapped in electric tape. No signs of "heat shrink" on anything. The turbo was also wired incorrectly. Non of my windows were plugged back in and there where more components that weren't working because of the wiring. Be aware that when you leave what ever parts that you are exchanging for performance parts, they keep to re-sell to people. These guys are a rip off and they also lie. Currently going through the Better Business Bureau and legal process. Before you commit to them look at their BBB rating. We are not the first people they have screwed over. Trust me.. it's not worth it. Pay a little more and it will be worth it. read more

This is the best shop I have went to so far! If you drive a subaru this is the place to go! My car ended up overheating because I thought the fans went out. Kelly ended up changing them for a great price but once I left the shop, it was still overheating. Kelly found out that the hose had a coolant leak and it wasn't working properly. I have a 2014 WRX that spun a spearing a few weeks ago. Due to my budget, a rebuild was out of the question. However, I kept hearing about these popular "JDM" swaps, and I went ahead and bought a 2.0L JDM Legacy GT Engine (Twin Scroll). After days of researching and looking into what shops could do the work, I found Ubersport. Over the phone, Kevin and Kelly were very helpful. Providing a pretty accurate quote on the complete engine swap + a tune. Needless to say, Kelly did an amazing job with the swap itself. The Turbo Feed-line had to be modified, Kevin called me to notify me of the changes that needed to be made. Kevin was excellent at keeping in touch with me through out the process. After the swap was completed, Kevin took over the tuning. Long story short, the car drives perfectly as a daily driver, and still has plenty of punch in WOT. I called Tuesday about a quote on doing some maintenance. I received the price and everything sounded good, so I asked can I make an appointment on Saterday After a little pause 'yeah' said Kelly. I said okay great lets do it then. Friday comes around I called at 11am to confirm the appointment for Saturday. Kelly says, 'yes your the motul guy right' I said yes he says 'what time again' I said 9:30am he says okay and we hang up. Saturday comes around I wait til 10:30am and no ones at the shop. Everything Ubersport did I had to have redone. The clutch they put in only lasted 3 months cuz they didn't replace the flywheel. The new radiator they put in only lasted 6 months. Didnt matter to them I guess even though I told them it was my daughters car and she would be driving halfway across the country in it. I was told by the owner that all they work on is subarus, well he knew that the flywheel should always be replaced with the clutch on that car. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Kelly does great work at reasonable prices. I was looking at a used Legacy from a car lot nearby and brought it to him for a full inspection. He ran a compression and leakdown test and went over the car with a fine tooth comb. The results were surprising: despite sounding and feeling great, the car needed a lot of mechanical work (totaling about $3k). He found things that I hadn't noticed and that I'm positive the dealership was hiding. I passed on the car but Kelly's services were worth every penny. Will definitely be bringing my Impreza here for service in the future and recommend Ubersport to anyone looking for a shop in the OC area. read more

Kelly and the guys over at Ubersport rebuilt the motor in my 2008 Subaru Forester. Customer service was above and beyond what I expected. The build took a little longer (about a week off on the estimate) than what they promised, but they made sure that I was looped in on the cause of the delays. I am in the middle of breaking in the motor and will get a tune from the guys at Ubersport in the near future. The work they have done to this point has been on point!
