Signed up and placed my first order around 10am to be delivered at 6pm to a place very near the chosen eatery where a friend of mine and I were going to be. so you can imagine my surprise when 6pm 615,630 & 645 roll around and no food arrives. Since my only option at that point was to call the restaurant they were the ones to inform me that Uber Eats had in fact cancelled my order at 330pm that afternoon due to a shortage of an ingredient at the restaurant. THey told me it was Uber Eat's responsibility to convey the message. I got n o call, text or email. Meanwhile my 72 yr old diabetic friend and I were starving. We found some food for her to keep her safe, but I clearly will have a problem endorsing or using this service. read more

Ok today I ordered my ride on Uber at 9:45 am and got a message from them that my arrival to airport would be 10:25. The driver showed up at 1040 and I missed my 11:30 flight. He claims he only got the message at 1030. Now I have to wait till 630 pm and arrive in rochester at midnight. I hate uber and i sure wont use them ever again. There is not even a number to call them to complain. Driver said it's not his fault but since Uber doesnt have a place for me to call or complain to someone in charge I will hold the driver liable. He is a middle aged man named James who is originally from Ohio but now lives in Lakeway and drives a brown Toyota Highlander. He was just 10 min from my home. He must have rated me low because I could not even rate him on Uber's website, so here it is on Yelp...what a bogus operation. I hope they go out of business for their dismal customer service. Scheduled an UberSelect months in advance for my wedding night in Austin to serve as the wedding vehicle. THE CAR NEVER SHOWED UP AND MY RIDE WAS "CANCELED" BY THE APP. No phone call, no contact from Uber, no one at customer service to pick up a phone when i tried to problem solve. Absolutely ruined the end of my wedding night. During this time my wife and her DIVORCE attorney had given me a jailbroken iphone6 plus with spyware secretly installed to watch me to see if I was unfaithful. iPhones are not designed to run this spy software so many of the security protocols are SECRETLY broken leaving the owners data exposed. However in this case it also left many riders exposed as well. Private conversations, data going over my hotspot, text video and audio can be and were recorded. I HAD NO IDEA UNTIL MUCH LATER AFTER THE FACT. Because the software engineers are constantly tweaking the drivers app I am not sure if they take the time to get every update signed with Apple or Android. I know the rider app is. Every rider in my car during those two years had an expectation of privacy that was violated. But it gets better. The last 5 months of 2017 I was personally hacked and cyber stalked. My identity was stolen. I believe that during the time that I was being watched by my ex wife and her lawyer, some really smart hackers recognized this and took advantage of the revolving door of personal l data going through my car. I lived and mainly worked the cedar park area, I drove a black Honda Fit. Public Transportation sucks and so does Uber. Not only will they surge charge you without prior notice, they have a system that is not very user friendly when you have issues. When you call they ask you to enter the number associated with your account but it just continues to say the number you entered was wrong. Umm I think I know my own telephone number. My teenager went to a concert and what is normally a $30-$40 estimated ride became a $160 ride because UBER saw fit to raise the rate 4 1/2 times because they said it was a peak time. I have used Uber many times and in various cities and never had an issue. Recently however, I was not picked up as requested and I reported it to customer service. They insisted I was picked up and driven to my destination based on the driver's GPS system. Seriously?! It never occurred to them that the driver just drove the distance to get paid? Given that I have been a loyal customer for several years and never had a complaint or issue, you would have thought that would have been enough for them to refund the illegal fare. I also filed a complaint with the BBB and they refused to respond to them as well. Uber sucks....use another rideshare company that puts the customer first! read more

This is just a buyer beware.....do the math when the surge pricing is in effect! There were no taxi's to be found in Austin, Texas about 9:00pm on Halloween night so I used Uber and saw that surge pricing was happening, but just assumed it would be double the cost. I found out the next day that it was actually 6x the price and I ended up paying $125 for an 8 mile ride which is ridiculous. I get it was my fault, but I would have WALKED for that price and do feel that they should be verbally warning the customers when the price is more than 2x the 'norm. read more

WARNING!!...Be aware that when booking Uber during peak hours you will be charged 5.5x the regular rate! I went 4 miles Friday at 6:30p and was charged $136.00!! That seems like a racket to me! I have become a frequent Uber user due to ease and freedom from the hassle of searching for parking. However, beware of fees. Last night I received a notice that my ride was cancelled. Before I had a chance to set up another one, the "cancelled" driver called to let me know he had arrived and he drove me to my destination. Here in Austin there is a cartel with the cab companies and the city council, ie they only let three operate. So during busy times I have called a cab only to never have it show up. What I love about Uber is that you can watch the car as it approaches and you know exactly when it will arrive. I use all of their services and have greatly enjoyed them. read more

Service was convenient and awesome for our night out. Both of our drivers were polite and we felt it was the safest way to travel to the bar to meet friends. We used coupon codes and both of our rides for the night ended up being free, but before the coupon the ride was still much cheaper than taking a cab, and more reliable too. Uber is great. Very good service from decent people who drive for them. The service has always been prompt for my pick ups. The cars have been clean. I have never felt like I was overcharged. If you do not like surge charges do not order the service at that time. I suspect that some if not all of the negative reviews are from those connected to the taxi owners and union and their ilk. Uber is a great service unless you run into a surge situation. If you request a car and they ask you if you'll agree to an additional charge, do not accept it. They are totally trying to take advantage of the fact you are waiting for a car to take you where you need to go and do not necessarily know exactly what you are agreeing to. I paid $99 for a 13 mile trip - the "surge" was $62 (trip should have been approx $35) Not an impressive way to run a company. Yeah, Like many have said here. Be very careful when using during peak times. My typical ride home is 15 to 16 bucks from Downtown to 290/183 ish area. It was closing time downtown. My ride home this past Friday was 90 bucks. I was out having fun and really did not pay attention, and got a nice surprise when I arrived at the house. Should have just rented a limo! Learned from it, also removed the app. No issue with a up charge, but a 75 dollar one is downright nuts. Cheers! read more

Been an Uber costumer for over 3 months (in SF) and now in Austin, They are trying to get masses of people to get the app by giving giving promotions at UT, I stood in line for 30 min only to be told that those are for "new costumers only". This is understandable, but the guy was very rude and disrespectful about it when I told him that I had been in line for 30 min and that they should have something for existing longtime costumers. I've been loyal to Uber, but the way they treated me today as an "old costumers" is bad business practice IMHO. I will now download Lyft and give that a try, I've heard positive things about them and that they are cheaper. I recommend you take the free rides and then do the same. read more

Needed a ride from the auto repair; before leaving home I requested a ride but couldn't get thru the site - said my password was incorrect. I requested a new p/w. Never got the email allowing me to reset my p/w, allowing me to request a ride. Never got it. Tried contacting Uber thru their site but they have no way to contact them. Their help site is useless. Uber is extremely unethical. They don't post any information or guideline on their website, they pretty much charge whatever they want. They even charged me $40 initially for a ride, then the next day (without my authorization) charged me an additional $37 "for the number of people in the vehicle," yet the driver never mentioned anything about an increased rate and couldn't find anything online about their policies. I also had a driver cancel on me for the number of people, although his SUV could fit us all, then I got charged $10 for a cancellation fee... Not to mention, it cost me $213 for a 30 mile trip. read more

I have tried to find a way to let the uber techniques know so they can fix the problem but there is no way to contact anyone. Not happy. Used Uber for a ride to ACL this weekend. Worked great for the ride into the festival. The ride back to the house was also quick. I paid $29 for the ride in and $117 for the price gouging ride home. 11 miles and 21 minutes for $117. I sent an email to Uber and got a rubber stamp explanation that they were sorry for my sticker shock but that is how they get more cars on the road. I call BS. There was plenty of available cars to pick me up, as a matter of fact the drivers were fighting to get to me because they new that they were going to get 4X the normal fare. The driver that did pick me up could not give me an estimate and when the ride was finished could not show me my bill. I did not find out until the next day what the bill was. Uber & Lyft were awesome services. DWI arrests were down, their services were less expensive than taxis (which completely sucked in every way possible), there were less DWI wrecks/deaths, bars were able to make more $ since people could drink more, people struggling with income could make more $ - which allowed them to spend more $, businesses were better-off since people had more $ to spend, employers treated their employees better since employees could just quit oppressing employers since they could still make ends meet after quitting, there was less debt, and we could actually enjoy our ride since we could talk with drivers who were pleasant people and who could actually speak proper English. The people who voted against Prop 1 were tricked by the corrupt city council into believing we'd have to pay for additional criminal background checks - when such additional background checks were never necessary to begin with. Uber & Lyft already did sufficient background checks, and we never had a problem for the 3 yrs they were here. The corrupt city council simply created additional hoops (that no other city had ever implemented) for Uber & Lyft to jump thru simply to give the taxi cab mobsters what they paid for - corrupt laws that eliminated their superior competition. You tip your taxi driver, your valet, your waiter, waitress, barber or beautician, pizza delivery drivers, everyone. But, you don't tip the guy or gal using their own vehicle to provide a discount service to you that typically far exceeds the quality of comparable options. To be clear, tips are not included in the fare. Check Uber's website. Drivers take 80% of the fair. So for a $10 trip the driver gets $8 gross. Then deduct for taxes, gas, cleaning, bottled water, cell phone rental, (Uber charges drivers to use their Uber branded phones $10 a week), bottled water, and whatever goodies some drivers choose to provide. The net "profit" begins to shrink really fast. So, no, tipping is not mandatory, but it's the respectable thing to do if you receive quality service in any industry. Full disclosure, I am a driver and customer with Uber. I won't be mad if you don't tip because it's the norm so far. But, if you do, I promise it will really make my day and I'll be extremely grateful. Maybe that's why I tip my drivers so well when I use the service. Zero stars are more accurate. When I signed up with Uber for the first time, they insisted in two emails that my registration was complete and active. And when I arrived at Las Vegas Airport to use it for the first time, the app asked me to enter my phone number. When I did, it said that I was already registered (which I knew) and gave two options: OK and Cancel. Obviously, the app did not work. Uber is one of many millennial companies that thinks it is perfectly OK not to have live phone support, especially when problems arise. I had to take a taxi to my hotel and on arrival, emailed Uber, asking them to reimburse or credit my account for the $85. ride. That should have cost $25 with them. They replied with stone silence in spite of three email follow ups during my conference stay. At the same time, they send surveys asking for feedback and then take no responsibility for their actions. Totally outrageous. If they truly valued service, they would spend some of their billions in profits to have phone support to resolve issues and keep their customers happy. Lyft, here I come. read more

I've used Uber locally in Austin about a year and overall had good experiences. However, recently in late Sept. 2015 I've had an awful experience w/ Uber's customer service. My account was jeopardized by a hacker who was using Uber in another country & I instantly noticed this on my Uber account immediately contacting Uber that my account was compromised. I spent the next 18 hours updating Uber (I'd receive generic responses from Uber). I gave specifics including the multiple transactions in pounds (my account was hacked by someone riding Uber in UK) and also the transactions in US dollars as they appeared on my credit card. I have 2 threads of e-mails with Uber because the same Uber person never responded; I was being passed off to another Uber person (Veronica, Lea, Jaime). Uber then erased the e-mail threads before problem resolved and also without my permission. Issues still has not been resolved 24 hours later. Uber needs some serious customer service training & I'll be glad to teach them! Uber, what are you hiding?! & my gosh, your Customer Service is awful when your clients have an issue.
