We had a great dinner here last night. We ordered sake, wine, edamame, sweet egg sushi, and the boat. The sushi and sashimi was fresh, and everything was delicious. The service was also very good. My only disappointment was the ambiance. It seems like most people get take-out from here. If I wanted take-out, or I was in the neighborhood, I would definitely go back. read more

Thank you, U!!! This review is from a Californian visiting the area for the first time :) I am so grateful for my delivery sushi experience! It was fresh and delicious. I chose the option of forbidden/brown rice on my rolls, and the flavors were sensational. Can't thank you guys enough for providing such a tasty, satisfying, and guilt free lunch :) read more

My husband and I are HUGE fans. We come here once a week for takeout. The service is incredible and fast. The price is great and most importantly the sushi itself is fresher and tastier than the other options in Coolidge. They remember our order by heart now and always take the time to ask how we are doing when we go in. This hidden gem will continue to get our business for years to come!! read more

This is the most unprofessional place I've ever ordered from. I ordered delivery and after an hour, I call them asking what the status of my order is and the lady says 'sorry so busy, another 15' minutes. Half an hour goes by and still no food so I call back and the same lady says 'I don't know, I can't reach my driver'. After calmly explaining to her that's not an acceptable answer, she puts me on hold for 10 minutes then tells me that 'he's busy, maybe another 30 minutes'. At this point it's been close to 2 hours since I ordered and she's clearly just trying to get me off the phone. After I tell her to just cancel the order she just says 'ok bye bye' without even getting my name or other order information, meaning I'll probably have to call my credit card company to just get my money back. Never again. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

NEVER EVER ORDER FROM HERE. I LOVED Ginga's authentic quality and friendly customer service, and was hoping U-Sushi succeed to the GInga's quality... I ordered dinner through the phone, which is I used to do the same thing with Ginga. A woman picked up my call with inhospitable tone, and took my order unwillingly. I talked to her while I was watching over their website that has a whole menu, and ordered dishes clearly and specifically, but she said she was not good at communicating in English (she said she is a Chinese) and she could not get what I wanted. She passed the phone to another Chinese guy (they were talking in chinese over the phone), and I repeated my order again for him. I explained to him so many times, but at the end, he said "Oh... maybe we don't have one! the company that put the menu on the website was wrong!! We haven't checked our menu yet!!" and laughing...and HANG UP the call suddenly....... Definitely the worst service/communication in my life. thanks. read more

I have been coming here for takeout for several years. I briefly moved away and put this place on hiatus, but now that I'm back, it's just as good as it always was. The food is an exceptional value, and it's my favorite sushi takeout in the neighborhood. Finally, they stay open a big later than other takeout spots, which is an added bonus. read more

Looks cheap but surprisingly delicious and good! Friendly staff too. Gem of brookline

Not fresh, bad service. Go somewhere else. Their delivery guy was sweating with rotten teeth. Cut my appetite.

I haven't ever had BAD sushi before-- I love it so much that I always figured that you just couldn't mess it up! But the sushi from U-Sushi was really subpar at best. It came out and it looked like chunks like cat food wrapped in rice and seaweed, and it was absolutely tasteless except that it had the funniest, grossest aftertaste. Definitely would not recommend. read more

Last week, we felt like getting some takeout sushi from one of the nearby places, and were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon U Sushi, especially after we saw their great pricing and really good quality. We got the Angel Roll, a Crazy, the Lobster, a Summer Maki, and the Spicy Tuna Hand Roll. Everything we had was amazing, and we will definitely order again when we need our sushi fix. Since we placed our order after 9:30, and the restaurant was already empty, I doubt we will ever try dining in, especially if its late. I totally dislike eating at places where hubby and me are the only guests around! At that point, I would much rather bring in and save on the tip. read more

This is our favorite place for sushi take-out. Super affordable, the food is consistently great, portions are generous, and the staff is friendly. They have great shumai and oshinko rolls, the latter of which is surprisingly difficult to find around here. read more

I loved GinGa and was very upset when I realized it closed. I came here with 3 other people to try it out. I was surprised they didn't have plum wine (how does a sushi place not have plum wine?). The service was on the slower side and the prices are on the higher side (especially for the special rolls). The sushi was good, but I liked GinGa a lot more. I probably won't be back. read more

I love this place! Fresh salmon, good rolls, really good food and reasonable priced! Great service too!

I order from U-Sushi very often, very polite, and delivery is fast. The shrimp tempura maki is my favorite, and the california roll is also very good. The chicken fried rice is decent as well. read more

The service and food here was outstanding. I came here for lunch last week and I'll be coming here again soon. The lady provided great customer service by giving us time to decide what to order, as well as giving recommendations on what to order. Overall, I was pleased with the quality of the food especially for a small japanese place. read more

Ordered through grub hub. Extremely late, took over 2 hours. Restaurant staff were extremely rude when we called to figure out what was going on. We paid $90 for a sushi platter. There wasn't a single raw fish roll. Fake crab, California roll, overcooked octopus, mango roll... not a single salmon or tuna or anything of the sort. In summary: bad service, bad sushi - long wait for mediocre food. Absolutely do not recommend. read more

The rolls are really, really good but a little pricey. It's definitely worth it though, and a great date spot, as it's a small, cozy setting with superb rolls. I went here with a groupon and went back because it was just that awesome. The spicy tuna roll is awesome. read more

Have had fresher, neater rolls. Got takeout after buying a Groupon. Other local places I'd go back to before going here again.

We had a delicious sushi meal here last night. The only issue I have, was the wait staff seemed extremely overwhelmed by the crowd. I believe they should be ready to be busy if they are going to offer a Groupon. There is very limited seating, but I will go back due to the fact that the food was just that good!! read more

The salmon was not that great and very, very warm. The California Roll had fish eggs. Even the ginger was bland and unimpressive.

I never write yelp reviews because but feel particularly inspired to do so after my most recent visit to U-Sushi. I've been going to this place for three years and was super loyal to it because of the friendly staff. My most recent visit was absolutely awful and I will NEVER EVER go again. I ordered three rolls and shrimp tempura to go. When I got the order I looked in the bag and they gave me a shrimp tempura roll instead of just shrimp tempura--that stinks but no big deal. Then I noticed they forgot the first roll I ordered, the one I said was my favorite. So, I went back in and asked for it again. They were about to close and the chef was standing in front of me. The cashier told me they couldn't make it for me even though they forgot it because they were closed and the chef was done. He kept refusing. I walked back to the car and my boyfriend got out again to ask for the roll and tell them they also got the shrimp tempura wrong because I hadn't mentioned it, I was mostly confused about the yellowtail. The cashier started yelling at him, telling him he refused to give us the roll and that we were the ones who were mistaken. He claimed he repeated the order back to us and it was our fault which never happened. He was super impolite to my boyfriend even though he was the one who messed up the entire order, not just one roll. We walked out with half an order, only two dishes out of four that we actually wanted. I can't believe how rude the whole interaction one, I work as a waitress myself and no matter how frustrating customers are would never treat one like that--don't waste your money. read more

Delicious sushi rolls. Best I've had in a long while. And I say that having used to have been a stoner in LA. Prices were fair. Only thing to know is that it's small. read more

Been here three times. The food is really really good, but if you're not paying attention it will get expensive (though I suppose that's true with any good sushi restaurant). It's small, but I like the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back for more... read more

The first time I tried u-sushi was after a long day of work. I was a little nervous at first because it was a smaller shop, but thought I'd give it a try. Since there were few seats, I didn't think there was too much traffic, but their customers are mainly take-out/delivery based. The food is amazing, the fish are healthy and I don't think I have eaten a bad roll there yet. One of my favorite rolls that they offer is called a Black Caterpillar Maki, which is to die for! I have yet to try the kitchen food, but that's only because I could eat sushi all day! If you ever have the chance, I recommend stopping by or calling for delivery! read more

Some of the best sushi we've ever had. We tried both the traditional rolls as well as more exotic stuff. Loved it all. Service was wonderful as well! read more

We ordered for the first time from U-Sushi. I thought the food was okay for the price but then the quantities were all quite small. I've never ordered maki rolls from a sushi restaurant before that only included 4 pieces (ie. spider roll). This was a bit of a disappointment. I would highly recommend not ordering the Agedashu Tofu for delivery. It was a sticky mess trying to eat as it all congealed together. However, the oil it was fried in made it taste super fishy as well. Overall, not a great dish. Otherwise, I enjoyed the sweet potato roll and the sashimi was sufficient. read more

Good Philly rolls and crazy Maki! Pricey but worth it.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Coolidge Corner. Quiet and overlooked by many, U-sushi is a neighborhood gem. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly in a unobtrusive sort of way. The sushi is super fresh and I know sushi, having lived in Japan. I love taking out of town guests here for a casual, catch-up over food kind of meal. Couldn't recommend it more highly. read more

This is the best sushi restaurant in brookline! The food is delicious and fresh and the service is really fast. The owners are great people, it's always a joy talking with them. The price is also very reasonable and they have a lot of options on their menu. I recommend the black caterpillar roll, it's great. Overall have had multiple great experiences here! read more

Nice service, clean and cozy. Liked the philly roll and the seaweed salad tasted fresh. Will return!

We had an amazing dinner at U-sushi tonight. The food was delicious, the service was great and very friendly and it was well worth the price. While not super-cheap you get what you pay for and the food was great! We had tempura and gyoza then avocado, philadelphia and spicy tuna maki - the fish tasted fresh and it was all perfectly cooked within minutes. We finished with the mochi which were filled with icecream - a nice surprise. In all (with 20% tip and tax and hot sake) we paid $50 - a bargain for the amount of food we got - both my boyfriend and I came out completely stuffed! We had a great time here tonight and would definitely recommend this to other sushi lovers. Our favorite sushi in brookline! Note there is only seating for around 15 people so get there early/later to avoid waiting, but the small setting means food comes quickly and the owners are very hospitable. read more

Awesome food, we have been there twice and liked everything we ordered. Sushi was very good, very good presentation as well. Seaweed salad is a must try. Restaurant is a bit pricey but we had a 50% off Groupon so it was a pretty good deal! read more

The sushi here is fantastic. This is the perfect sushi place for take-out, so my 5 stars are for this place as a take-out option. (It's nice enough inside, but there are very few tables.) The fish is always fresh, the menu choices are great, and they are very friendly. We normally order rolls and a sake or teka don (tuna or salmon over sushi rice). Eat24, and maybe other online-ordering systems, have a coupon for free seaweed salad with an order of $25 or Edamame at $15, but the seaweed salad is much better here. The lunch specials are particularly well priced. read more

The food was very fresh and I had a great experience! The waitress' made sure that everything I ordered, I loved. I accidentally ordered the wrong dish and the waitress instantly took it away and asked if I wanted something else. My personal favorite was the Lauren Maki, it was a very fresh, crisp flavor! I'm in from Chicago and happened to stumble across this place, so happy I did!! read more

Very nice atmosphere with a wonderfully wide selection of sushi options at very reasonable prices. The owner is very kind, and I was extremely impressed with the service. I think I've found my new sushi place! read more

I LOVE this place! I work in the salon across the way and order takeout all the time. They remember me and are always so friendly. There's sushi is delicious and fairly priced. It's a great little place to just relax and eat some good sushi! read more

Love this place! The Lauren roll is the best- Apple, tuna, cilantro and jalapeño. Simply the best!

Fast delivery to JP! Seaweed salad and maki rolls hit the spot every time. The combos are also a good deal. My go to place for sushi now.

Great sushi, great prices, and they will custom make whatever you want! Definitely going here all the time.

Stopped by for a quick dinner craving some sushi. All the staff were delightful and the sushi we got was fresh and delicious. The Louisiana roll I had was a favorite I will be ordering again. read more
