This post office offers a decent parking lot as well as a pull through for those not going in, but needing to drop off mail. I've never struggled to find a spot for a quick in and out. The passport office isn't obvious until you are at the door, which is locked and you'll knock on. I stood in line at the mailing line first and they directed me. No need to be there early. My appointment was at 10a, their first, and no one was in the office until 10a. Only one person at a time so you may need to wait outside until the current customer leaves. Friendly service at the passport desk. I'd printed and completed 90% of the application and the clerk did his part plus witnessed my signature. The picture taking was a major close up! Let's say I won't be sharing my passport photo LOL - if you can do your own within the dimensions and make it flattering then I recommend that! As I approached, the hustle and bustle of Shelbyville Rd gave way to the bucolic peace of Anchorage. I followed gently winding roads veiled with leafy trees until I reached the quaint Post Office. Inside it was quiet, and a friendly (!) employee immediately helped me get my item mailed. No waiting required, as I was the only person in the post office that day. The process should've been simple--scan the QR code, print the label, and send the package--but the kiosk made it way more complicated than it needed to be. The machine was extremely finicky. It wasn't properly reading my QR code, and the screen kept lagging and showing things out of sync with what I was actually doing. It felt like it was processing actions in the background, but not displaying them correctly, which caused me to press extra buttons just trying to get it to respond. That only made things worse--the screen started freezing, glitching, and becoming even more delayed. What should have taken maybe a minute or two ended up taking twice as long, which was really frustrating for something so simple. Another customer even stepped aside to let me go ahead, which I appreciated, but she also mentioned she had been having issues with the kiosk taking a long time too. So it definitely wasn't just me.

The biggest thing I noticed right away was that while there were accessible parking spots conveniently located near the entrance, the doors were not automatic or handicap accessible. You have to manually push/pull them open, which could definitely create challenges for some visitors. Accessibility should start at the front door. Once inside, though, the visit was seamless. I went straight to the self-service kiosk with no wait at all. The kiosk was easy to use, straightforward, and glitch-free. Everything moved quickly, and I appreciated that it gave the option to print a receipt, email it, or do both. That kind of convenience makes a difference when you're trying to get in and out efficiently. Overall, a fast and hassle-free stop with a very user-friendly kiosk system, but updating the entrance doors would greatly improve the experience for everyone.
