04/22 Update: They expect me to spend half of another day driving to the post office and waiting in line...to? Maybe receive a refund? They said they would mail it. They should mail it. It wasn't my fault that I didn't receive the refund when I took the time to get it on 03/29. I probably should have expected this. How a business that uses cash and has transactions that require a supervisor override can think they can function without either is beyond me. I went to the post office on March 29 to close my PO Box and receive a refund. They took my key and told me they had no cash and that they would have to give me a money order. BUT, that requires a supervisor override and a supervisor was not on duty. So they had me fill out a form for where to send my refund. Two weeks later I haven't received my refund of $55 and I doubt my box was ever closed. So in a few months I will likely receive a renewal fee bill and will be expected to pay for a key I have already surrendered. Do I think this will ever be resolved? Absolutely not. Even if I had the time to waste going back and waiting in line, I have a sneaking suspicion that they still wouldn't be able to help me. Richard and Shiela...I miss you! read more

I went into the PO on Princess Anne St in Fredericksburg to place a mail hold and the driver kept delivering my mail. I ended up completing this process on line. I've never had issues with the mailing staff however the passport woman was incredibly rude and condescending. It was my first time applying for a passport so naturally there were some hiccups, but she was very rude and talked back to me whenever I asked her a simple question. It seems that this location doesn't care about customer service considering there are similar reviews of this staff member dating back years. My brother got his passport processed at the location on Route 17 and said he had much better customer service there. read more

One of the problems with this post office is that they are inconsistent. If you drop off a package on Friday, it can leave the post office the same day, on Saturday or on Monday. About their clerks. 3 clerks are very nice and efficient. A couple of clerks are way too slow, and they do not respect customers' time. So, you need to be prepared to stand in line for much longer than average time. The other problem is that some clerks are very comfortable with treating customers badly and being rude. I was at the post office yesterday. All what I needed is to get a receipt for a small pre-paid package. I was first in line, when the clerk decided to serve a random man with 2 un-paid boxes. The man had not be in line, at least not in front of me. He approached another clerk first, but that clerk explained to him that she does not have a register. The clerk who was supposed to serve me told him that she has a register and she can help him. When finally she took me I told her "All what I needed is to scan one package. I do not even know why you took him before me." Her answer was "You don't, but I do." No apologies, no explanations, no thank you. She was rude, unprofessional. This isn't the first time I've either observed or experienced rude, unprofessional behavior by the passport/desk clerk (Sharon). Once I heard her tell a customer who didn't quite get some forms right that, "Reading is fundamental!" in a loud, insulting voice. Just one example. She has yelled at me in the lobby before. I've been told she's just rude to everyone, but that's not OK, all right? Everyone else at the Fred main post office is really helpful and pleasant. No issues at this post office mailing a package the other day. There was a short line, only a few people ahead of me when I arrived. The gentleman working was very polite worked very quickly to help out the customers. He noticed I had a packing slip and handed me some tape before it was my turn. (Thanks again!!) I was in and out of there faster than the time it took me to open my package, try it on, and realize I had to return it. No joke. (Roughly about 5 minutes.) The passport lady was completely disrespectful, immediately upon entering the room. She had no patience for dealing with children or anyone. She also had the audacity to ask if my child had a disability or other mental disorder, after we were completely finished with everything. My 3 yr old son would not sit perfect for her while taking the picture. It seemed as if she did not like her job and did not want to be there. It was only 1200 and it had just opened. The building was completely unsanitary and a complete mess! Out of the approximate 12 pens slots available, only 3 were useable. The rest were either broken or completely missing. The passport room was a complete mess and unorganized, it felt as if I had just entered into a crack house or hoarders house. My girlfriend had an appointment to get her passport updated for the first time as an adult. The older black woman at the passport counter was incredibly rude, repeatedly asking my girlfriend if she "heard what I just said" when she had difficulty with the passport process. My girlfriend has been partially deaf since early childhood and wears hearing aides as a result, but still struggles with understanding people. On top of this, the passport woman was very condescending while we were trying to figure out what we were missing to complete the application. Overall, a pretty shitty experience seeing someone I love being harassed for things beyond her control. Great job USPS! read more

Clerks charge different rates for the same envelope or package. It will be different each time you come or depending on the clerk. Also, if you are not the ethnicity of some of the cletks you get treated with rudeness. Even to the point of them holding their hand up and using a fanning motion to the customer. They will charge a package rate for any brown envelope. Unacceptable. Need to clean house and have some folks that want to work and not cause drama. Sad to see HEROES WORK HERE sign at this location Don't bother calling the Supervisors there, as they NEVER did return my call after several messages. Boy I never been here before but this pandemic and the fact my job don't have direct deposit has killed me. Just last month it took three weeks to get my check I have informed delivery so I can see what mail I'm getting. For the most part my carrier has been very good with coming to the door to drop off packages and the mail. However, someone really screws up the "hold mail" requests. They never get it right. I always have mail delivered when it's supposed to be held. This last time I even received a copy of the hold mail request with a bunch of mail that was delivered three days before the expiration date, which was clearly marked on the request sheet. I really appreciated the kindness my clerk offered me. as someone who didn't not know too much about how mailing works- she was able to guide me in the right direction. line wasn't long at all on a saturday and I was happy to share a few laughs about stamp designs with the woman helping me. It is what it is! The first time I visited this location, customer service was a little odd. I was hoping to get a similar full-service experience as I've grown accustomed to at FedEx or UPS, but that wasn't exactly the case here. However, I think the more often you visit, the more staff begins to recognize you and eventually they warm up to you. Location is in Old Town Fredericksburg and there is plenty of free parking with a private lot out front. Overall, my observation is that staff tends to be much more accommodating as long as you have your package(s) ready to go and you're not wasting too much time with a bunch of nonsense. With that said, it makes sense that service here is pretty speedy, all things considered! read more

My father passed away recently and I was attempting to collect his mail at this postal office. Their hours online show 9:30am-6pm for December. So I got here around 5:10pm and the lady who opens/closes the doors for customers immediately dismissed me in a very condescending manner. She wouldn't even let me ask her a question. I asked politely if I could just ask her a question and she kept interrupting telling me to leave and come back tomorrow because they were closed (even though hours online tell differently). Just checked my status of my passport application and it is saying "not found" so I called the customer service line and they said they have not received it yet but it takes 7-10 business days. It's been over a month that I applied for my passport and they have no record of my application, payment or birth certificate. So this post office took my money order and birth certificate and LOST IT!!! Now I have to go through all of this trouble to apply again and it is going to take even longer! Shame on them. Um... This is a post office. I'm not sure why it sounds so dramatic with "UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT" as the title. I'm pretty sure the USPS is a private corporation (government-subsidized) with a US Government flag. But that's about it. Okay, but the woman who took my mail was awesome. I'd screwed up my friend's first name. I don't know how it happened. Anyway, I corrected it. Next to it, I wrote "Drunk?" I didn't expect anyone but my friend to really look at it, though I guess it makes sense that others in the USPS system would see it. Anyhoo, the woman who took my mail saw it and busted up laughing. Which made me bust up laughing. And then we were both crying from laughing. And her co-workers and the other customers were looking at us. And it was funny. Even if you had been there, it probably wouldn't have been funny to you. But it was funny to us. We will always have that moment. At the post office. Not so much the United States Government. I would submit an edit of the title to Yelp, but then my review wouldn't make much sense, and I wouldn't want that. But go to this post office. It's a good time. Do not go drunk. read more

I see there has been some complaints about the Asian lady well her name is Dianna Huang and I could fill a page about this women. She has told me I receive too much mail or packages, I need to come in every day to pick them up because I only have a small PO Box, blames me for lost locker keys that I never received even telling me! that I took them home and lost them. Now why would I come to the post office to pick up my mail and leave with locker keys and not my packages that I came for. So between her and the inept postmaster I'm no longer allowed use of the lockers, I must pick up my packages at the counter so now they sit there till I can get in during office hours. And thus I here "YOU HAVE PACKAGES YOU NEED TO GET!" whenever I walk in knowing I have them there and she is working out front. I can't tell you the number of times I've had misplaced packages and was told I have nothing only to return a day or two later and they appear. But with her your always wrong. I encourage anyone who has had, seen, or heard dealings with this woman to report them to USPS.COM so just maybe we can get something done about her. She moved to this location from Quantico maybe she can go back maybe they can handle her crap, I know I've had about all I can take in the past 5 years give or take that she has been at Fred. Oh! Wait one last note Dianna Huang is a supervisor at this location so let's hope employees there are not being treated just as poorly as the customer is by this women. I need to add this to this review... As much as I dislike this women she is not the entire location but just one small part. As for the office in a whole the rest of the people that I've interacted with are a joy and very helpful some even taking time to get to know you and enjoy helping you. So I would like to share my experience here today- having never been before. It was about 1:20 in the afternoon on a Saturday. Lots of foot traffic in and out to the personal mailboxes. My wait to mail a large envelope of documents was very short - just 2 people in from of me in line. The counter was staffed w/3 people. A supervisor popped out of the mailroom and asked for pkgs that we're ready to go - just being dropped off. The person who waited on me apologized for the wait - which was very minimal. She was pleasant and professional and when I accidentally pressed the green button for hazardous contents, she said "no problem" and reset it - no attitude. Wanted to post since seems most of the reviews were not positive and my experience was different. read more

I don't know what is happening at the fredericksburg post office but I won't be ordering from companies who only use them anymore if I can find alternatives. The wait times for packages is horrible. I've had multiple packages sent that have been accepted by the post office and then sit 3,4 or 5 days before being sorted and delivered. Recently at another post office I had a package picked up by the post office and then sit there for 5 days and when I finally saw some mention it went no more than 50 miles and then sat there for 3 days! Still hasn't made it to Fredericksburg but I'm sure when it does it will sit here for several days as well. I'm sure the excuse will be covid 19 but the service was better in March and April than it has Ben the last several months so I don't buy it!! Pathetic! read more

I got a call at 3:30 this morning from someone at the post office saying the chickens I ordered were dead. (People have literally been ordering chickens by mail for over a hundred years, but the post office sure isn't what it used to be.) This was my first notification my chickens had arrived. When I came to verify, the first woman I spoke to refused to acknowledge me, actually walked away to sort mail. Finally she came back and explained "Most people don't come pick them up." Not "Hey, we should have called you." "So sorry this happened." Just "We figured you wouldn't come so we didn't bother." Her manager, I suppose, came over and said they were dead on arrival, and "We did call," pointing to the note where someone had written "Called [this morning] 330."
