I came to this library after a day spent coworking with a colleague. We had already worked most of the day from a coffee shop and were ready to say our goodbyes. I still needed to get some work done for the day before heading home to Richmond when I found this library on Yelp. I love all the seating options and different rooms in this library. I found a quiet corner with a great desk near an outlet to finish up work for the day. The wifi was strong and I enjoyed all the natural lighting. Although I didn't browse the books, it seemed like they had a lot of variety. I enjoyed taking a peek at their new releases/recommended books at the front. It's a great library to pass some time at.

I was able to donate a lot of really nice puzzles from my late father's collection. I know they will be put to good use. The app is very helpful as well for reserving items, seeing where you are on a waitlist, keeping track of books you read/plan to read, and you can download audiobooks as well which is great for when you are traveling or commuting and not able to bring CDs. The staff is very fast with pulling your reserved books and it makes checking out a breeze.

I was surprised that this post office is larger than most with a community of this small size. There's a decent sized parking lot, the interior could definitely use a facelift! It definitely has a musty, old odor! They offer passport service here, again, unusual for a quaint town like this. I hope you're not in a hurry to get your passport either, not all staff is trained for this service. If you make an appointment, you'll have better luck! The hours are 8:30-1, 2-5 M-F, and 9:30-12:00 on Saturday. Expect mediocre service, long waits and blasé personalities. The folks here aren't crazy about their jobs. Nothing to "write home about."

After meeting Karen Kennedy @ the Hartwood location, I feel In love! Very personable and super service. If I need something mailed before they open, I can leave a check and the package and I don't have to fear that it won't be safe. Leaves my receipt in my P.O. Box. They are so nice there, I always make sure to drop off donuts or ask if they need lunch when run into town. Small town post offices are way nicer when you have a super Post Master like Karen! A++++

Montross is a cool, sweet town in the Northern Neck... population about 350 which has been around…read moresince the mid-1700s, but was originally called Westmoreland Courthouse established in 1653! There are not a whole lots of businesses in the town square, but the ones they do have rock! There's a hip little coffee/sandwich/art shop, a pizzeria, a Mexican restaurant, a grocery store, a family diner, a brewery, some historic buildings and the famous courthouse, shops, a funky water tower, a farmer's market, a dollar store, a cute LOVE sign, (etc) and of course A LITTLE POST OFFICE! Yes, it's a boring building, square brick, it needs a facelift! The parking lot it patchy, and it's rather dismal inside, and can use to be spiffed up! Just about all the businesses around here have fabulous mural painted on the sides of the buildings, at last count there were about 14 (seeing these murals is a must if you visit this area), planters and are pleasant to look at, then comes this p.o. eyesore. Come on Montross, step it up, and refurbish this important govt. facility and bring it up to date with the rest of this artsy town! The post office is well-stocked and there's a greeting card kiosk, but no passport services.There's definitely that small town vibe here where the employees know most of their neighbors and give them friendly, helpful service. The club house is also very well mantained as well as the pool. There are Tennis courts and a screened in Barbeque area as well. The staff are helpful and very friendly and especially welcoming to new neighbors/members. It is certainly the "Hidden gem" we were promised by our realtor when we were shopping for a vacation home.
