The ambiance to this restaurant js very crowded. Seating is limited. You feel you are in a much smaller location than the building appears to show. The service is very nice, however, and food was delivered very quickly to us. On to the food itself. I got the shu shu pork broth ramen. It was absolutely delicious. The broth tastes particularly good with the large amount of vegetables they add to it. The portion sizes were very large as well! Noodles were cooked very well too! They were plentiful and chewy. On the negative side, do not get the kaarage. It was one of the worst kaarage I have ever had. The recipe for this one seems to be lacking any real flavor. So it's not a whole lot to look at but it was a great find I think. The place wasn't very big and it wasn't flashy on the inside. We went in got seated right away and our waitress came over immediately. She was really nice and was helpful in explaining the menu. We absolutely loved the food though, I love ramen always. The spicy miso was amazing, the waitress thought it was to spicy for me but little did she know that's what I wanted. And my wife had the coco ramen, which was very interesting to say the least. We recently visited this new ramen spot on Friday Jan. 7th. Unfortunately they were doing take out only. Not sure if it was for that day only or until further notice. But I was bummed because I was looking forward to having a sit down dinner and enjoying my ramen. We order a few bowls including the Shu Shu Ramen, Spicy Miso Ramen, and the Chashu Bowl. We came right as it opened at 5, so we got our order pretty quick considering we had a pretty large order. Overall, the ramen was good. I got the Shu Shu Ramen, Medium spicy, and enjoyed. Nothing to rave about, but it was good. I was a little underwhelmed with the Chashu Bowl. It was definitely too much rice for the amount of pork it came with. The only thing I'd say, is that I wish the broth was a bit creamier? Not exactly sure how explain it. But if I had to choose between U Ramen and Silverlake, I'd have to lick Silverlake hands down, their broth is just soo much better IMO. But definitely give this place a try if you're not willing to wait in long lines at Silverlake. This will fill your ramen cravings. read more

U Ramen is located in a medium sized shopping center. There is a lot of parking. The parking lot isn't lit up well which is a little creepy. Anyhow, my mom and I had a great experience here. The waitress was super nice and we felt very welcome. The art on the wall is super cute, the ramen has some unique twists and there are some great rice bowls and appetizers to choose from as well. They also have some tea drinks and snacks sold at the front. The restaurant is small so you may end up having to wait for a table. I got the Spicy Miso Ramen with chasu and shared a matcha green tea with my mom. The ramen was delicious. I really liked the lime and the crispy wonton in it. The noodles were great and heat level was right. The portion was right for me too and the broth was delicious. The matcha green tea was a little too sweet but I still enjoyed it. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. It definitely would be one of my regular spots if I lived in the area. read more

Oof I hate to be this person. Let's jump right to it I had the shu-shu ramen. Broth had no flavor at all. I almost would have preferred top ramen instead. Yeah, sorry. However I'm not going to base this restaurant off one dish. The tagoyaki was good. That's was my first time trying tagoyaki, so I have nothing to compare it too, but I liked it. No complaints there. Wifey just wanted broth. She got shoyu broth. I enjoyed that broth better, much more flavorful. So next time I'll try the ramen with shoyu broth. We arrived around 30 minutes before they closed. We were seated promptly. The table we were sat at was fairly small and the AC seemed to be on. We asked if it could be turned off but the server said the coldness was due to the front door being open, which we were okay with. We proceeded to order the Rock Wings and the Korean Mozzarella Cheese Corn Dog for appetizers. The Rock Wings were great! Perfectly crispy, good flavor, and the sauce was mild hot. I will however mention that it had too much chili seasoning. I would've liked less. As for the Korean Corn Dog, it was very tasty. It was perfectly crispy and had a nice cheese pull. It was a much better corn dog than Two Hands Korean Corn Dogs. As for the ramen, we went for the Shoyu Ramen. It was nice and savory and exactly what we wanted for the cold weather. It was a big bowl of ramen, definitely enough for 2 people. Portions are good at this restaurant. The service was decent. The server checked up on us twice but then again, she seemed like the only server for around 5 tables so it's understandable that she didn't check up as often. Overall, if you're craving good ramen, this is the place to go! It has a very cozy feel, almost as if you're in San Francisco on a chilly night. The food is great, service is decent. The Rock Wings were well cooked, falling off the bone and moist, but the flavor was single noted with a strong vinegar tang. The curry bowl was the opposite of generous with the actual curry - so much rice, so little curry to put it in. The tofu nuggets were uninspired. First time order beef got pork instead, second time ordered the spicy udon no cabbage, received it with a lot of cabbage.
