My laminate flooring, purchased online through BuildDirect, was scheduled to be shipped to my home via ABF (same company). ABF called me the day before to verify delivery would be made to my home between 1-5 pm the following day. I am a single mom and asked for an evening delivery to avoid taking time off work, which they would not accommodate. The following day I was home from 1-5 pm. At 5 pm, I called to inquire about my delivery. The dispatcher had the driver call me, at which point he told me that they were backed up all day and I could expect my delivery at 7:30 pm. I was livid. No one even called me to let me know, I had to call them!! When I called back to complain to the dispatcher (who was also the driver's manager), he said, "yeah we have been backed up since morning. Sorry." He literally couldn't care less that no one called me when they started getting backed up nor that I took time off work for this delivery window. 7:30 pm rolled around, still no phone call. 8 pm, 9 pm, 10 pm rolled around. No phone call. They arrived at 11 pm. I was completely frustrated, tired, annoyed by my day. I didn't even take care of my kids properly since I was so worried that the delivery would arrive at any moment. The cherry on top? They delivered my heavy flooring boxes to the curb and I had to haul 32 boxes into my home by myself. Zero stars for customer service, communication, and delivery service to my home. Trustworthy with one of the best prices out there. You have to be careful because many moving companies are a big scam! I called some illegitimate companies and they would not take a no from you and i finally hung up when they kept calling me! I used their service when i moved from San Jose, Ca to Texas. The reason why they can charge their customers a relatively lower price is because they transfer most of the liability to the customers which is not a big problem if you as a customer know how to pack your items properly into their relocube. Once you pack your items, you lock it and keep the keys till it arrives at your destination. The person who dropped off my relocube in Texas was kind enough to give us a hand with moving out our items and he was super friendly. Even in San Jose, the front desk service was good. I will definitely consider ABF again when i move out of Texas! read more

All credits to upack services. 1 relocube is more than enough for 1BHK Apt. They had given us 3 day time period for loading & unloading which was very helpful. Flawless service and great price in my move from San Jose to Phoenix AZ. Way cheaper than Pods for this cross country move and perfect execution on the timing. Strongly recommend them to anyone looking to move....being able to load the container over a few days rather than using a moving truck, that has to be loaded in a single day, is a huge improvement and waaayyy less stressful. Reading some of the other reviews, I had the cubes delivered a little early and scheduled the unloading the day AFTER the cubes were scheduled to arrive in Phoenix. I recommend that others do the same, as the cube delivery and pick-up have a pretty wide window. read more

First and foremost, every person I dealt with provided service that you would expect from someone who actually cared about you and your success. That is hard to find from larger companies like U-Pack. There prices are the cheapest in town, their service was outstanding. Like a previous user, there were a few bugs in the website / computer system that almost caused me grief (my user error, but not 100% user friendly), however an assistant is always easy to reach, and since they act like caring humans on the other end, all worked out well in the end. read more

The dates for the drop off and the arrival to our new home were accurate and we had no last minute issues. Two stars for the pricing. They cannot be beat, but you get what you pay for. Do not rely on these guys from a timing perspective. Realize that you are dealing with a freight company, and your household goods are just gravy. You are not a priority, and when it comes to scheduling time for drop off and pick up they will give you the run around. I had paid a bunch of guys to help me load the truck. I scheduled the drop off 1 month, 1 week, 2 days before, and 1 day before to be sure that it would arrive when they said it would. I was told the morning of the drop off day that it would arrive no later than noon. My movers were coming at 6, so I said no problem. I called at 2pm to see why the truck hadn't arrived. Was told that it was coming right then, and to expect it at 3. Called at 4, told the same thing, the truck was on its way. Called at 5, called at 6, called at 7. I kept getting lied to. "truck is on the way" I was told over and over again. All the while I am paying guys to stare at my stuff sitting in my house. Finally, when the truck came close to 8pm, 8 hours after they said it would arrive, the driver told me that he didn't even pick up the truck from the truck yard until 7pm and that his arrival was the soonest he could get it there (not his fault). Same thing happened on the other end. Was lied to over and over again on when my stuff would come. I would look on the website and see that my stuff was stuck half way, but when I was calling to confirm the drop off at my new location, they kept telling me that it would arrive on time. Finally I called them out on it after two days of their lies. I said I just want to be told the truth on when my stuff would be delivered to me. Still couldn't get a straight answer. I called the main line to complain and was told it was my fault, and that I needed to be more patient, that my stuff would arrive when it would arrive. I would suggest that you pay a bit more and use a place that can be relied on. If you don't care when they drop off, or when you are going to get it back, then U-Pack might be the right option for you. If you are working with deadlines, then choose another company. read more

Unfortunately I've had to move quite a few times in my life and using U-Pack was by FAR the best moving experience I've ever had. From drop off to pick up the crew was extremely accommodating and friendly. Having the piece of mind knowing I was the one packing the containers made me feel like everything would show up the way it left and that was very much the case. I've used Upack several times, and here's what I like- the doors, they are two swingout doors, that both have holes for locks. (I've used the big name competitor, and their roll-down doors are awful!) Also, the cubes are very sturdy, tough and well constructed. I'm giving 2 stars because I did get my stuff on time, but every step of the way was a struggle and added a LOT of stress to my move. I will try to keep this as impartial as possible and just give you the facts. - I booked a little late in the game because I had another moving company fall through last minute. However, UPack said they had availability during a time that would work for me, so that shouldn't have been an issue. - My 2 relo-cubes should have arrived the 8th of June, but one of their 2 trailers broke down, so they couldn't get it to me. They did, however, send someone on Saturday which is unusual as they're closed on weekends. Their driver was amazing, and almost got this reveiw up to a 3 star, but no. - Getting my cubes picked up was very difficult. When I originally booked them, I had asked the guy on the phone if it was possible for friday drop off, monday pick up. He said yes, but i'd have to call in on friday evening or monday morning to do so. Since I got the cubes saturday, I wasn't ready monday. I did not schedule a pick up. And yet someone showed up. I had to send him away and let him know I had not officially requested it, and they had been late, but I'd be ready the next day. - I called when they were packed to request pick up. They couldn't find me in the system. It took a long while to figure out who I was, even tho I had 2 relo cubes sitting in front of my house. Finally got through, they said they'd have someone out on Tuesday. - Wednesday came, no one had showed up. My flight was scheduled for thursday so I was very nervous. I called to ask what was up. Same exact story. They couldn't find me in the system and had no record of me. I was a little CONCERNED at that point and asked why this was happening. The excuse i got was that there were a lot of new trainees and there were too many people telling them what to do. Manager got on the line and assured me my cubes would be picked up. - The guy comes, same guy from Monday. He says jokingly "oh you're ready now huh?" ..... not cool mate. I just said "yep" with forced laughter but.... I was fuming by this point. - pods arrive much later than i had hoped thanks to the delays, but still within estimated parameters - I called the ABF in Ohio to come pick up my cubes. Guess what? I wasn't in the system. I had to give all my info for the 3rd time. They said they'd be down that same day (I called in the morning) but they didn't come until the next day. That's fine but... really? again with me not being in the system? Ok now for the feels: moving is already stressful, and very time sensitive. This move in particular was a huge undertaking and i was doing it alone. Moving across the country with no friends or family for work. This experience, although minor in retrospect, caused me So Much Stress. They were disorganized, unprepared, and I have no clue what happened on their end to cause all this, but from my perspective it was an absolute nightmare of a customer service experience. Very satisfied with their services. They answered every time I called, and they had my container available whenever needed. They quoted me one price for 12' and I was able to fit everything in 11', which lowered the cost for me! Overall it was a great experience and I would always recommend using them instead of driving. One complaint is that it was never made clear that I had to call and schedule a delivery. I thought they would call me when it arrived. From there, everything went as scheduled. We had the door to door delivery. We had an excellent experience with U-Pack Moving. After a fair amount of research we decided the ReloCube would be the best option in getting our son's belongings from San Jose to Arizona. The cost was comparable to renting a truck. The ReloCube was delivered as promised. The driver was very courteous and made the recommendation to park the ReloCube on the street so as not to damage our pavers. You have plenty of time to get it loaded. You need to supply the locks and any moving supplies. When you are ready, you call and they pick it up. Customer service was excellent and the process was very straightforward. I ordered the shipment of 2 relo cubes fr CA to BC, Canada. The driver ended up sending my shipment to Chicago which is the other way around and now it's stuck there until further notice due to weather conditions. I called the customer service to see how they can help me out as I'm living in an utterly empty apartment with no furniture waiting for the relo cubes to arrive. They offered nothing and didn't seem to care about my situation and just said that whenever the containers arrive I can call and see if I can get my money back. I guess that's the service we need to expect from a cheap company. No responsibility, no customer oriented policies and we end up paying for their mistakes. In reality their service isn't even that much cheaper if we consider the movers we need to hire for helping with loading and unloading the relocubes. If you're lucky and everything happened as you expected then I guess they're ok. However, if they make a mistake you will end up paying for it. So decide for yourself if you want to take that risk, I know that I won't. read more

My move from the SF Bay Area to Fort Worth was made so easy because of U-Pack! I used one of their ReloCubes. Their customer service communicated very well, and the delivery drivers were very friendly and kind. I picked them over PODS because their price was about $1,000 less. The only problem I had was that some of my things were damaged on the move, but that was my fault for not securing them correctly even after reading their instructions. I would recommend them to anyone moving long distance. read more

Great service, and the most cost effective method of moving I found. Would have given 5 stars were it not for two things: (1) the truck was supposed to pick up my loaded trailer on Friday, as I had previously arranged; however, I didn't call to confirm until Friday morning -- and the schedule was already booked. Teamsters apparently don't work weekends, and Monday was a holiday (Memorial Day), so the trailer wasn't picked up until Tuesday, late ofternoon. We had moved out completely the prior Sunday, so the trailer just sat there. That was irritating and inconvenient. (2) the bulk head doors are really heavy, the vertical e-track was bent -- as were the ends that clip in, one of the two pins was missing -- and the clip on the second one broke when I hammered it out! System is NOT as easy as it could be -- and you better have two strong men to install and open, and hope contents didn't shift during transit (as ours did) and press against the bulkhead panels. It took me about 15 minutes and A LOT of back strain to remove the bulkhead panels when it arrived at my destination, and my wife and kids weren't much help because it was so heavy, and the combination of the bent male e-track ends and contents pressing against the plywood from behind. read more

Shout out to Driver Steve Wasko (Las Vegas, NV regional location). Steve was the best -- he gave superior customer service. After delivering my packed trailer to be unloaded on site at a storage facility, Steve took time way above what was expected to help me get the stuck panels unstuck. The bolts were incredibly hard to release, and Steve did not leave until the problem was solved. He worked hard to get those bolts and panels removed. Had he not stayed behind long enough to see I was okay, I'd still be there struggling with those panels and bolts! THANKS STEVE! read more

San Jose - Chicago Easy, fast, safe. Got the cube at the apartment, loaded it up, locked it. they took the cube and transported the cube to their Chicago HQ. Went with a truck to their HQ and unloaded the cube. All my stuff where in the same spot I left them, nothing shifted in the cube. My TV and mirror arrived in perfect condition, nothing damaged. I recommended with 100% and I will use them again. read more

This company was incredibly rude. I called only to receive a quote and the guy asked me for my contact information so he could send a quote to me. I never received a quote and then I got a phone call saying that a truck driver was there to drop off the trailer. I called the company to try and understand why this happened as I had NEVER made a reservation, especially never even receiving a quote. The representative that I spoke with called me a liar and that he would never make a mistake. He even said that he had no payment, obviously....since I NEVER made a reservation and continued to treat me with complete disrespect. The driver was also unpleasant and not helpful in understanding what had happened. I do not recommend using this unprofessional company! read more

Our experience was awesome. Everything happened as we planned/scheduled it. Upack/ABF freight is the mover of your cubes or trailer. They provide regular text updates on where your stuff is. We did 2 cubes. We hired help on both ends to load and unload. Arrived as promised. You can use moving staffers, or hireahelper. We did both and were happy with our choices. In both cases, they loaded and unloaded in way less than 2 hours. Don't commit to more time unless you have a lot of stuff. We looked at the POD option and were not happy with reviews,etc. I would definitely use upack and ABF again. read more

Great service! I had to make some last minute changes as I didn't have enough space for trailer parking near my home. U-Pack was very flexible and gave me an option to load at the facility. You can do pretty much everything online including changing the pick up dates, update address, etc. I will highly recommend U-Pack especially if you are moving long distance. We used U-Pack to move from the bay area to texas. One thing U-Pack doesnt make clear is that they need to drop the freight for 3 days and they cant reliable schedule a pick up. Despite this the rep told us they could atleast do a next day pickup... 2 days latter our building was not happy and this one mistake cost us more than the money we saved from hiring a professional moving company who would have done everything for us. To make matters worst once we were fully committed to using U-pack we were informed they couldn't actually deliver it to our building in Texas. They said our street was too busy and not a place they would deliever to. Would have been nice to know this in advanced. The result was we had to pay movers to unpack their freighter, to move into a new truck, then deliver to our building. Again this additional cost just made U-Pack by itself a bad deal. It gets better... We secured all of our stuff pretty well . We arent professional movers, but we move often, as work changes all the time, or there are better places to live. We save all original boxes for expensive electronics , when our new movers opened the bulkheads, it looked like a tornado hit our neatly packed boxes. Thousands in damage. btw... we recently bought new electronics, it was delivered by U-packs movers who said they woudlnt do a move on our street... read more

I am giving U-Pack Moving in San Jose one star rating because: 1. They did not provide a ramp. I called them and they said it is not available and they ran out of ramp and they asked me to rent one myself at home depot. They also claimed it is only provided when it is available. It is unacceptable considering how much I paid for the trailer and how can you expect me to go to home depot and rent that big ramp to put them in my car? 2. They are late in delivering the trailer. Estimated time is 8-12 and they did not even deliver and pick up until 6:30 pm. First they claimed they are behind and want to deliver it the next day. I have to call customer service and I have a mover lined up already and this is unacceptable. read more

I am giving U-Pack a one star rating for one reason only: Their drivers are racist, sexist, condescending pieces of trash. They absolutely refused to listen to my wife and I at both locations, but the driver who dropped off the truck at our destination was so bad that I got into a yelling match with him. First, he was extremely rude and condescending to my wife (without cause). Then, he argued with me, but at least listened somewhat (at first). However, once he was on our property he started looking for every excuse not to park our truck!!! Let's just put it like this, if you decide to use this service then there had better not even be a crack in the asphalt or they will refuse to park your truck! I almost got into a physical altercation with the driver who dropped off our truck at our destination. When I called him out about how rude he was being to my wife and to me, he got into his truck and threatened to drive away with our belongings! Do not use this service unless you are ready to have them hold your belongings hostage! Buyer beware, especially if you get a racist, sexist, old latino man named "Art"!!!! read more

Given the nature of the moving business, I would say this is probably the best moving company I have worked with. Since I have a habit of relocating to a different city every two years, I have worked with a variety of companies. The worst were ones which involved theft and false quotes, the best was this one. Anyone who expects moving to be perfectly smooth seriously needs to lower their standards. Things break and delays are common. I used UPack in December to move my household from Portland, Oregon to San Jose. The gentleman on the phone was very professional and took his time to answer all my questions and outlined a timeline for the entire move including time frame for cube drop off, when to call to have it picked up, who to call when I want it delivered, etc. When the time came to have the cube dropped off at my storage unit, I realized the street parking was limited to one hour. I called the customer service line and they instructed their driver to hang out for an hour while we unloaded. The only down side was the shipment was supposed to arrive in 2-3 business days and it ended up 5-6. But good luck finding movers who are on time when you are relocating to another city in another state. I have yet to find a company that consistently does that. I choose to factor in flexibility and assume I won't have my belongings for at least a week and pack a suitcase for that week. read more

we moved from the SF bay area to Houston. All in all, it went very well. It arrived on time, though it was on the last day and in the afternoon. Both ends, San Jose and Houston, ( the freight guys) were very professional and helpful. My one suggestion is ......at least with our trailer, it sat in the different "stops" along the way. In Houston, at least a day and a half. we were told because of internal protocols. I think U-Pack needs to stress to their sub-contractors, that they need to "expedite " those shipment. We ( the ones who are moving) should be consider as a retail client. Retail clients in general are higher on the list than a wholesale client. U-pack needs positive results all the time. That is how U-pack will build their business and thus the shipping companies too. We saved lots of $$$ over your more traditional movers. Yes a bit more work, but very worth it. read more

At this time one star is way too much for them. I loaded a relo-cube in Atlanta that was picked up for delivery to San Jose on the Feb 5th. Guess what! The unthinkable happened, they cannot locate my cube. It is now the 10th of Feb, and they claim that they have sent a message to all their terminals between Atlanta and San Jose to check if it is lying somewhere. They even tried to confirm with me three times if my cube was in fact picked for delivery. Thankfully, the cube was picked up from a Public Storage, and they record everything on video. My cube is not scheduled to arrive till the 14th, but I am getting an attorney ready. I will update the review if things change. read more

Absolutely the only way to move. I moved from San Jose to Portland. From the dropping off for the packing of the pods to pick up, storage, and final drop off for unpack they made it so easy for me.
