Hair that was once unruly and a pain to look at is finally gone! They have an ice machine and will numb the areas that need to be zapped, which is always quite helpful when you're in pain, like I usually am. Like their website says : - arrive early, if you're going to be late, call them! They have things to do and could probably book a last minute client if possible. - bring cash or a check ( yes, they take checks!!!) On the other hand, what I at first perceived to be chatty friendliness soon began to feel extremely uncomfortable and invasive. She asks an inordinate amount of questions, nosy ones, and doesn't back off even when it's clear the client doesn't want to answer. She also makes sweeping generalizations about entire groups of people and when you're lying flat on your back, at the mercy of her zapping needle, it's not really the time to get into a heated discussion. She also once surprised me with a significant price increase that there had been no warning about. For me, the tipping point was when she kept insisting I must have a disorder or condition because I'm overweight and have facial hair and inquiring time after time if I'd seen someone about it. I assume she was referring to PCOS, which many thin people have as well, but it really doesn't matter. She is not a medical professional and I did not come here for a diagnosis. I came for electrolysis. Had she said, "I don't think your hair growth is responding to electrolysis and I don't want you to waste your money if it's not helping. You might want to see an endocrinologist to see if there's an underlying cause before you continue," and then left it to me, that would've been entirely different. I stopped coming here after that, and it's a decision I do not regret.

But don't worry, you're not there for them ;) I asked for Zhanna and they had me wait towards the back. Although not your typical medspa and space is limited, the area is clean and she sanitizes your glasses with an alcohol pad before service. (Which should be done at all laser places. I was concerned how was I going to be outside this summer with 8 treatments remaining. Glad it won't be an issue now. The woman who did my laser (I wish I would have gotten her name) was very informative and made me feel comfortable. This was my second session so I'm still pretty new. I added on a new service, my upper lip (because why be hairless everywhere else and still have a mustache?!) and the woman walked me through what it would feel like and even did a test on my neck before we began- I appreciated that. She was thorough and took her time making sure to get every spot. I already booked my next appointment and I can't wait to come back! I've seen amazing results after the first session so I can't wait to see if any hair grows back now.

This review isn't so much for the salon as it is for the stylist. The salon is kind of in the middle of nowhere and once you reach the destination, you have to take an elevator to further locate it.. Prices are really Manhattan prices, don't be fooled by its Brooklyn location, which is fine, because they have masterful stylists with a European edge and creativity; use pricey treatments; and seem to go for continuing education (i follow their social media pages, and the staff is always attending some courses to advance their hair cutting/coloring/styling mastery--which is admirable). I made an appointment with Kirill. I was super excited and upon first glance, he appeared really hip, wearing trendy leather pants, and sported a very edgy haircut and color. I felt like I could trust him. Plus, I've been following his instagram page, so I already liked his aesthetic. My experience with Kirill was instantly not what I expected. He was very diva/ primadonna ish, not personable, not friendly, and appeared to be doing me a favor. I tried to make small chit chat to make it less uncomfortable (after all, we spent like 5 hours together), but it was a one-sided monologue on my end and I quickly stopped. The hair washing girl was also very to herself. No questions about "is the water temperature ok" or anything. Almost no eye contact. Definitely was obvious that she hates her job. Not sure the name, she was very tall and thin. I asked for an ombre and he completely messed up my hair. I mean, completely. It looked so cheap and my hair was fried, and my bill was over $500. Hello , Marina! I would love to share my experience in details with you... The first time i went to Tanya i brought a few pictures of the exact color that i wanted , but she told me that its impossible for me to get that color, and she just simply bleached my hair. After Exactly a week it looked like a complete disaster, the hair turned YELLOW ! when i first came i asked her to specifically not make my hair yellow, i even showed a picture of what i didn't want my hair to look like(dark roots and yellow ends) , and sadly thats exactly how my hair looked after a week. So i politely contacted her and made a second appointment to fix my hair. She did the same exact thing and bleached my hair again , after that second bleach my hair became very damaged . If she didn't know how to get the color i wanted why couldn't she just recommend me another option ? Because honestly my husband could of probably did a better job for free!!! read more

Absolutely horrible! My daughter made an appointment with a stylist called Veronica before her birthday. She wanted to get touched up highlights because her roots were growing, came in with healthy shiny highlighted hair with grown roots, left with BLEACHED and dead hair, not only did this woman kill her healthy hair she managed to turn her dark ash brown virgin roots RED! As a certified hair stylist myself I cannot understand how you manage to turn dark brown roots red! And let the client leave the salon like this????? The way her hair looked before walking into U-mode is not worth the tears dripping down her face now! I don't know about the other stylists there but I can certainly tell you this Veronica woman does not know how to color hair! I booked U-Mode Salon for my makeup for my wedding day. LERA was my makeup artist. She was absolutely amazing! Super knowledgeable, accommodating and very friendly. Listened to what I wanted and did a beautiful job. My makeup lasted through the whole wedding (till past 2 a.m.). She finished doing my makeup at 1 p.m., so that was a full 13 hours and still going strong! I was really impressed. I had a lot of compliments! I've been here too many times to count! I did laser hair removal, haircuts, dye jobs, and makeup at U-Mode. Everyone is super friendly and professional, not to mention that they are masters in their work. I ended up slowly lightening my jet black hair of ten years. The stylist kept a good record of which level I was up to and we kept going lighter and lighter every three-four months depending on how my hair was doing. I have very thin hair and I was surprised that there was little damage done to it! It definitely survived more than I ever expected it to due to the care of the stylist. read more

I went here for a makeup application with marina. I was not disappointed! She transformed my face in 20 mins. She has great tools/brushes and long lasting make up and has been doing makeup for years! I recently went in for a Brazilian bikini wax with Lorena, and it was, without question, one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had. From the moment the appointment started, things felt off. She repeatedly opened and closed the treatment room door during my service, which made the experience feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. I'm used to being waxed by Irina, who always takes the time to prep the skin with powder, checks in throughout the appointment, and makes sure I'm as comfortable as possible. This experience was the complete opposite. Lorena was extremely rough and repeatedly pulled wax strips over the same sensitive areas again and again. The pain was unbearable. She apologized several times during the appointment, which made it clear that even she knew something wasn't going well. When I left the salon, I was in significant pain. It genuinely felt like the top layer of skin had been removed in parts of the treated area. I've had Brazilian waxes for years and understand that some discomfort is normal, but this was far beyond anything I've ever experienced. Unfortunately, this experience has completely eroded my confidence in booking with her again. I've also heard from others that this isn't the first time clients have had concerns about her services, which makes my experience even more concerning. I'm sharing this review because I've always had positive experiences at Delaqua Salon and hope management takes this feedback seriously. Loyal clients deserve consistency, professionalism, and proper technique--especially for such a sensitive service.

Got my hair curled here a few years ago to see if they could do it for prom. It looked better after a couple of days, but not a fan of needing a waiting period. It also cost $88 just for wash/dry and curls. The environment is pretty though! And they had a few different complimentary drink options.
