They're more of a to-go spot so there's not much seating and sometimes you have to go up to the front to order but it's worth the extra steps. The salmon is always fresh and delicious, no fishy taste and the rolls have a good ratio of salmon to rice. The chicken katsu is also delicious with a lot katus in the portion. Its served with a side of miso soup. The yaki beef udon was also delivered with a variety of vegetables in it. Their other rolls are also a good size and have many fillings. The workers are very kind and always willing to help with the ordering process and any questions you have. Service is also quick, however if you have a big order it might be a good idea to order ahead as they tend to get busy. Overall a very cosy spot to grab some delicious Japanese food!

They served 12 pieces of different kinds of sashimi, including salmon belly (which I forgot to take a picture of). Each piece of sashimi was quite decent in size. ‍ We also ordered the seaweed salad and a rainbow roll to meet the minimum order amount. The portions were so generous that the meal was perfect for two of us. I think they mainly focus on take-out orders. There isn't a lot of space for eating inside.

This didn't sit well with us, so we had looked to Yelp to find another venue and Nichiban Sushi 4 U popped up. I never heard of Nichiban before, but I instantly recognized the location as another favourite food joint is located adjacent to them (Fat Ninja). We decided to give them a try. I can't say we weren't a bit hesitant when we arrived as they are located at the back of the plaza, away from the limited street frontage the plaza could afford. However, I can say with confidence that we were very happy we ate at Nichiban! The service was great, the prices were excellent and most importantly, the food was spectacular! The ingredients were very fresh and full of flavour! The bento box I ordered was well prepared and the food was just right. The chicken katsu was extremely tasty and the gravy was delicious! I loved the tempura: just enough batter to be flavourable and not overwhelming. I could actually see the vegetables underneath the batter, unlike other restaurants that simply oversaturate the batter. The sushi plates were also very good; the sashimi was ultra fresh and the presentation was great! Someone ordered the beef teriyaki bento box and everything was just right! Overall, I would highly recommend Nichiban to anyone who adores Japanese cuisine - excellent tasting food and great pricing will make you a believer!

Tempura Bento - Came with miso soup, salad, California roll, 2 gyozas, rice, 2 shrimp and 4 pc veggies. They must have given more before because there was alot of empty space in this bento. Torched sushi Unagi and hotate - 3 blocks of rice with a bit of unagi and scallop on top. It felt a bit unbalanced and expensive for what it is. Would not recommend.

I was more than happy to take her recommendation, so I proceeded to call to make a reservation. I had no idea what to expect in terms of how busy it would be. We were there on a cold weeknight, so I wasn't all that surprised that it wasn't particularly busy. We had our choice of seating, and we opted to for a nice, roomy booth away from the entrance. The restaurant is spacious and has a wide choice of tables. There are several window tables as well. The decor is calm yet chic, with soft lighting and plenty of flower arrangements. We were seated immediately, provided with menus, and served tea and water. We decided to share a salmon plate appetizer, and also a salmon platter for 2. We were grateful for the hot tea as all the items were prepared room temperature/sushi style. The portions were plenty for the both of us, and the food was fresh and tasty. We did finish everything nonetheless, so it was a perfect of combination of wanting to keep eating because it was good, but completely satisfied when we got through the plates. There was a lot of variety, so it was almost like having an all you can eat experience, without the overindulgence, excess, and waste. The staff were very attentive and quite friendly, without being overbearing. I was glad to experience this because, truth be told, when I had called to make the reservation, the staff's tone had seemed a bit gruff. In retrospect I figure it was simply a transactional phone call in a busy restaurant, where they focus their attention on customers and food preparation very nicely. Between the level of food quality, decor, and service at the table, I would definitely return for a nicer-than-AYCE experience.
