I have used U-haul in Blaine multiple times over the last two years and have never had a bad experience but yesterday was absolutely amazing, and well beyond what I would expect. In summary, I rented a cement mixer from another company and they broke my trailer wiring plug. They replaced it, but with the wrong plug (male vs. female). When I went to U-Haul Blaine to pick up my trailer yesterday, it could not be connected due to the wrong plug, Will, the general manager arranged for Brandon, the wiring and hook-up tech, to replace the plug with the correct plug so I could continue with my rental. In short, U-haul did not create the problem but they solved it, and never asked for a dime for the materials or labor. You don't find this type of service anymore and I can't express how thankful I am for U-haul helping me out so I could go about my day. Standing ovation for Will and Team at Blaine U-Haul!! One star is overrated, showed drivers license and paid in full. Counter guy asked my husband to back SUV to trailer, the guy calls his manager and complains that my husband isn't on contract and made a big deal. Husband said he wasn't driving and just backing up like the kid asked, manager got on speaker phone and wasn't very professional as well. Asked the kid to twist chains up a bit as it's about 1" from ground, kid claims chains will bind up if not left the way it is. Sure. Trailer wasn't cleaned and service was trash! read more

The amount of issues I had was unreal. First, I paid for 6 furniture pads which they forget about but still charged me for. Second, you cannot park your car in their lot so you have to park at a local business and according to them 'They probably won't tow you for parking there'. On top of this there is no sidewalk to get there so after you park down the street you have to walk on the side of the very busy Silver Lake Road. In the winter the grass is covered in snow, possibly too deep to walk through, so you have to walk on the busy road while checking over your shoulder to make sure you aren't in danger. Lastly, I was told I could drop off the truck after hours for no additional fee as long as I put the keys in the drop box. Turns out you need to use their app to mark that you have returned the truck. I was not informed of this and was charged an extra $20 'Convenience Fee'. Very rude and mean and disrespectful staff. One of the blonde white girls working here this morning with bleach blonde hair even yelled at my friend and was very rude to my wife. I don't recommend this place, horrible staff and horrible people DON'T COME HERE! Ladies today we're just absolutely deplorable and rude and the most unfriendly people I've met. She was the one who yelled at my friend. Other lady in the blue shirt was very bossy. Literally giving orders like a drill instructor. *Edit* Lucy was the one working this morning who yelled at my friend Kyle and was mean to me and my wife and Michelle was the one who was very rude and bossy and very unpleasant and disrespectful. Michelle was even ignoring my wife being on her stupid cell phone which I have a picture of, and Lucy was treating me and my wife and friend Kyle like she was a drill sergeant. Then these two women rolled they're eyes at us. Maybe they had a bad day and put up with a lot of crap or hate their job and don't make good pay but poor customer service and treating people like this is not ok. I will post up a review and picture on Yelp as proof of being ignored by Michelle and I will also copy and paste this exact review. $54.95 rental charge, $12.95 for night glow trailer adapter, and $80.74 later and I'm still thinking about this experience. Showed up to pick up our Uhaul trailer which was reserved at the Blaine location. Problems with the signal lights. They never inspected them. So we asked for a replacement to which they had none. We asked if we could use a truck which they replied yes, but we would still be required to pay the full amount. No discount. No break. Even though it was their fault. I rented it at another U-Haul place that did not complete the paper work properly and these jerks happened upon it, checked that it was not in the system, and TOOK IT! I came out in the morning and the trailer and everything in it was GONE! I filed a report with the Blaine police of a stolen trailer. Then when I went there to find out how this could be, the woman treated me as if I STOLE IT! THEN when I raised my voice at her she called the police to report me!!! Was there christmas eve morning to pick up 5x9 trailer with ramp. From the start the gal was rude, the worst customer service ever!! It only got worse. When it came time to hook me up, she said hitch was too low. Trailer would drag, I'm like what? I just rented same trailer approx. month earlier and many times in the past year. Would rent from again. Much like life I ran into some problems with my rental and Lucy, the Manager, took note of the issues and quickly resolved the complaint I had. A few of the staff seem to be nervous to speak with customers and that may come off wrong but they quickly get to work securing you vehicle and getting you heading out. My husband and I went in to reserve an appliance dolly. We needed it the next day and were told by one of the guys with a nonchalant attitude to come back tomorrow because there are plenty available. At no time was there an offer to actually help us in that moment. We arrived the next day and it was extremely busy but we patiently waited. Eventually someone opened another line and motioned to us and indicated he could help us. My husband answered all of his questions and then had to answer all of them again...and gave our two phone numbers again. My hunch is that the computer was either not working correctly or he had entered the info wrong initially. At no time did he say that he was having difficulty. He then asked for a 3rd phone number to which my husband replied that we only have the two phone numbers. The Uhaul rep asked if we could give him another friend or relative phone number! WTF? My husband called a friend and asked to borrow his dolly. He told the Uhaul rep that we didnt need his help any longer. It was 20 minutes of pure frustration only to walk out with nothing. All that hassle for a $10 rental item. Training is the key to success, don't set your staff up for failure. read more

The staff is rude and they need to change their attitude. One employee named Jeff clearly hates his job and it shows. He was super disrespectful and was not helpful at all. He basically wanted nothing to do with me and someone else had to help me. Once I walked into the store I was ignored and so I finally make my way to the counter and three people are standing there looking at a computer screen still continuing to ignore me. This was my first time ever renting a truck the size or anything like this before, so I clearly have no idea what I'm doing and he knew that and continued to talk to me like I was stupid. My mother stopped in here with just a simple question and was forced to wait while the female owner "Lucy" sat and staring at hero phone. The only other guy said sorry but you will have to wait. Had an appointment for 5pm today to have a new hitch put on my vehicle. They rescheduled me to next week and neglected to tell me. I showed up at 5 after an hour drive from my home and was turned away. They said they called me and left a message, but my phone doesn't show any missed calls or messages from them. I felt like they were trying to blame me for showing up. Then they said they only allow vehicle drop offs anyways, because they "have 3 businesses to run." BAIT & SWITCH! I ordered a trailer hitch to be installed. I paid in full online $371. When I got to the appointment, they wanted to charge me $60 more because they supposedly didn't have the hitch I ordered, so they were going to install a more expensive one. I think that's illegal, but at least it's unethical. I had to take a morning off work to get this done, so now I'm out 4 hours of wages, too. As soon as I told them I wanted what I ordered and paid for, the manager became VERY aggressive and rude. I had to fight to get my money refunded, but I'm still out all that time. BTW, the inside of the store looks like a dump. On the upside... I ended up getting the more expensive hitch installed at Pep Boys for $250. read more

Then it was my turn, the counter person was very rude! Rather than explaining what could go wrong, and selling the policy that way, she treated me as though I am a thug with her trailer and I better come through... or else attitude... I literally was uneasy. I hope U-Haul doesn't rip us off. I even called customer service... same thing very rude and absolutely no help. Called on a Wednesday to schedule a hitch install the following week on Wednesday at 5 showed up after work to get it installed they told me they didn't have the parts and they would call me when they got them in. Weeks go by and finally a month and 2 weeks later I call them to ask about the hitch install I had already paid for, they told me that they would call me right back... they didn't I called them again 2 hours later and they finally said it could be done the following day ended up having to pay another 100$ on top of the $390 I had already paid terrible service unhelpful staff terrible atmosphere and attitude. Reserved a 2 wheel tow dolly. I am a repeat Uhaul customer and they we're able to pull up my account online. Went to the location to pick it up, and grabbed a trailer light harness adapter. Employee askes to help me, and once he determined which vehicle was mine, started questioning me about my proof of MN residency (I had just bought the truck and it was old and beat up with out of state plates). He stated his manager had already looked at the truck and determined that the shank size was wrong, but wouldn't elaborate. Then he stated that he couldn't rent to me because the truck had expired out of state registration. When I told him I had just purchased the truck, he told me he couldn't rent to me because the truck wasn't registered to me. This all happened in the space of about five minutes from me walking in the door. The implication was that I was attempting to steal the dolly. I'm absolutely convinced that the manager profiled me and had the employees refuse service. Stopped at an independent equipment rental a few miles down the road. Their staff didn't care one bit about my beat up truck, shank, plates, or anything else. 15 minutes later, I was on my way with what I needed. Keep your car dolly. I will never come back. read more

Take my advice and go anywhere else but this location. I bought the "premium insurance" and also filled the truck up at the nearest gas station, completely full where the hand piece clicked off twice. Then drove all of 4 miles to drop it off, left the key in the box, and I get a receipt for a fuel charge. They said the gauge was between full and 7/8ths of a tank. I always went to the acorn storage 2 miles away and never had an issue with them and they are great. These guys just aren't worth it. read more

We had reserved a 26 ft truck on Oct 27 and we started at 9 AM. They asked for return time and I thought we would be done by 3 PM. My mistake to not take more time like the full day! The loading took longer than expected and we could not get the truck back by 3 PM. I called them at 3 PM to say we had to unload and the first boy was rude how I was inconveniencing the next customer in-line with a reservation at 4 PM. We could not unload that fast and get the truck back. He was so rude to me, I swore at him. He passed me to the Manager, Lucy and she said there will be extra charges due to being late, but did not say how much. A $96 fee went to $167 for being 2.5 hours late to return. I could have returned it to the location closer to our new home for $139. She charged 2 day rental fee - double truck rate, double insurance rate, and double blanket rental fees. And we did not get to keep the truck for 2 days. We still had stuff to move and had to use our car and go back and forth to get remaining stuff. If we were being charged 2 days, we could have kept the truck. She is HORRIBLE to work with and it is okay that they call their customer vulgar! I have never used language before as a senior, and they had me so worked up I could not contain the anger. I will NEVER use this location, and nor U-Haul if this is their practice now. I have raised a complaint and can't get past her. She is determined to leave the charges in place. I am determined to let everyone know NOT to use this location EVER. They have the worst customer service and be warned if the truck is late, they don't work with you. A scam to double their income while not having to provide a product. I don't know if this is even legal what they are doing. The contract states there "May" be extra charges incurred for late return. She does her best to sock it to the customer. read more

This review is with regard to the U-Box services offered by U-Haul: My husband and I recently moved back to Minnesota from Arizona, and at first the U-Box service seemed to be great...until it came time for us schedule the U-boxes to be delivered to our new home. I've been calling and leaving messages for over a week to try to schedule delivery of our boxes, which are currently in storage (and for which we pay a $50 monthly fee per box, for a total of $250/month). I was finally able to get a hold of someone at the phone number that I was given from various customer service representatives, and the general manager I spoke with was quite rude. First she asked why I hadn't called the U-Haul location at which my boxes are being stored; when I stated that this was the phone number I was given several times, she relented and proceeded to "help" me. According to her, however, the first available date for delivery is just days after our monthly storage fee is due. I stated that that was unacceptable, as we have been calling and leaving voice mails for over a week, in addition to calling U-Haul and having their customer service people leave messages. I asked that the fee be waived, as we have been attempting to schedule delivery for a week and a half, and she stated that that was not possible. I also asked to speak with her manager, and was told that there is no one else and, to paraphrase, that I was out of luck. The "customer service" that I received was poor beyond compare. We have decided to just go in and pick up our possessions ourselves rather than be charged another $250 for the monthly storage fee. Suffice it to say that we will never use U-Box, and likely U-Haul services, again. If I could give negative stars, I would. read more

THE WORST!!! After paying over $250/mo for 2 years we came to get some stuff out of the boxes. We called over 5 times, months, weeks and days before to make sure the boxes were pulled out. When we got there, the gal said they didn't plan for us and we would have to open and load up in the parking lot. It was 26 degrees that day, and we had to pull everything out to figure out what to bring. Could NOT believe she was insisting we spend all day in their dirty, snowy, salty disgusting lot. I had to plead to get to unload inside, since THAT IS WHY WE CHOSE THAT LOCATION!!! 2nd day unpacking, the manager Lucy Averm-Left was the WORST customer service I've ever had in my life. LUCY WAS AWFUL, HORRIBLE, RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL. Then they came in (after telling me, I had until 7pm) that they were closing in 20 min (4pm) for NO REASON.
