Complete clown show. Two guys "working" in the front who don't know anything. Upon my arrival, they printed out a contract for me to sign. Any questions I had required them to run out back and ask the one guy who knew anything to come up front and answer my questions. He was obviously very busy and over-worked because he had no time to calmly, professionally answer my questions. Instead he was very impatient and unprofessional. What's the point of having two grown men working in the store if they can't answer any questions? A simple buzzer on the desk to call the guy working in the back could easily replace those two. They were however good at mixing it up when I demanded a refund. Right away one of them jumped in with the mouth. Could not recommend more highly to avoid this place like the plague. read more

Watch your credit card charges. We've rented from here twice now. Both times we had issues with them overcharging us. They reversed the charges after we called, but to have this issue twice leads me to believe there's a trend here. The pickup and return are simple and easy. The staff at pickup is friendly. Both trucks we rented had high mileage, but were in great shape. Overall, not bad but be careful. Take pictures of the vehicle (inside and out), odometer and fuel gauge before and after to cover yourself. read more

HA! i spent 25 minutes waiting for someone to help but nope, nothing. i asked two different people for help, both shrugged and said they couldn't help me. one actually just said "it's over there" when i asked for help, so that was just wonderful. When i was finally told that only one person who works there is "certified" to dispense propane, they DIDNT KNOW WHERE HE WAS. and then they just shrugged their shoulders and went back to hanging out. worst experience i've had. beware of this clusterfuck of a "business". read more

Huge uhaul place, they had any type of truck I needed. Everything went smoothly as usual with the rental but a couple things bothered me: 1) I've never rented a 10' truck that didn't have a ramp imagine my surprise when I arrived and realized there wasnt one this time. :/ 2)They wanted a second persons phone number, super irritating, had to give my mothers number because I don't know anybody here in AZ yet, they called her on the spot to and confirm I didn't give bogus number, wtf is up with that? My account shows I'm a long time customer and it implies they don't trust me and invading my privacy with this policy. read more

Disorganization, ineptitude and a complete willingness to lie directly to your face. Booked and paid for a trailer hitch install at the Tempe location. Had to wait nearly a month for an available time slot. Showed up at my appointment time only to be told by the general manager, Kevin Bybee, that they no longer have an installer. He said the he personally had sent the install to another dealer across town and that they were "waiting and ready for me". Mr. Bybee said that location was supposed to call me to let me know of the switch - which never happened. I asked Mr. Bybee to call the other location and let them know I was on my way - he assured me he would. I drove across town to the other Uhaul shop to find that they knew nothing about me. The appointment was still very much at Mr. Bybees store. They didn't even have an installer on duty that day. I asked if Mr. Bybee had called to tell them I was on the way they said he hadn't. So I spent a few hours driving around town trying to get a trailer hitch installed - that I had paid for a month ago - and got nothing. Mr. Bybee is inept and disorganized- it was his shops install. He should have called me to tell me the install was being moved, verified that it had been moved or at least cancelled it. Mr Bybee is a liar- he said he moved the appointment. He didn't. He said he'd call them to tell them I was on my way. He didn't. read more

Propane refill review... If you've never been here before it's slightly challenging to find. If you pass the Dos Gringos you've gone too far. It's on the west side of priest between Warner and Elliot down a very long driveway. Follow the curved painted path that says equipment return to the propane tank. Push the button for service and someone will come out to help you! Great price on propane! filled up both my tanks for $15. Good option for getting a propane refill, follow the signs. It took some time to get someone out there to do the refill but overall fair price and adequate service. As others have noted, you have to watch for the sign on Priest and drive down a bit to get to the U-haul which is tucked away in the back. read more

Sometimes, an experience doesn't start out so well but ends on a high note. I had ordered a receiver for a new car and Uhaul was to install it. When I arrived the first time, I walked in and told them I was there for a 3 pm appt. The guys at the desk didn't say much - only kind of nodded towards the install bay. I checked in with the guy there and sat outside for 45 minutes. After checking with him again, he walked into the office and then came outside to ask me to step in. They had no record of my 3 pm install. &@(&*$& I re-scheduled with them for a Saturday at 2:30 install and then called customer service to complain. They had it in their records for the 3 pm install. The manager did call me and only talked about how hard it was to work with this team he was trying to change things. Not really what I wanted to hear though. I went back on Saturday at 2:20, signed some papers and noticed that someone was blocking the install bay unloading a UHaul truck. Seriously? There's a sign that says, "do not block". The install guy didn't seem too concerned though. I walked away and returned an hour later - he had just pulled my vehicle inside and was starting on it...an hour late. #(&@)&*@ As he struggled with the install, I admired his persistence until, he walked out and asked me to look at the paperwork. $)&#)&(@ It says, "this will not work on a S model" of my vehicle in their paperwork. What? Everything online indicated it would work and I showed him that on my phone. While the receiver is branded as Uhaul, it's really a Curt product and Curt has no such disclaimer. He kept at it and another guy from UHaul stepped in and made a suggestion or two. Finally, at 7:15, it was done and everything was perfect. The tech could have given up and threw up his hands based on what the paperwork said. This was *not* a simple install - the tech kept at it and made sure everything was perfect before handing it over. For that, the tech and gets a 5-star review and a $20 tip. I admire a man who doesn't quit, completes the job and does so in the face of an irritated customer. He doesn't get points off for the first install screw-up - that's on corporate UHaul - he gets full credit for doing a great job. Corp. UHaul gets one-star. read more

I can't say enough good things about this U-Haul location! I have rented or dropped off numerous trucks and trailers with them and they have always been very helpful and pleasant. I've filled propane there and get great service at a great price. Last week was the first time I needed to use their shop last minute due to a screw up at the local Chevy dealership. Julian installed a break controller on my vehicle and cheerfully reattached my ridiculously difficult to hitch camper in the heat and humidity. What a great crew! I wish they had a full service auto shop, I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

I have been coming to U-Haul for a long time to purchase propane, went to the one at 8162 S. Priest, in Tempe, AZ, yesterday they were not able to fill propane tanks 3:30 PM, due to the fact they do not have any employees that have been trained on how to dispense propane properly, sad to see this company going downhill, they were not sure if anyone will be there today that could dispense program, this is usually a fourth start a five star rated company, hopefully they can get their act together before too long. read more

We reserved a 15 foot U-Haul truck for a 2,300 mile move at the Priest and Elliott U-Haul via the Ahwatukee Chandler Blvd site. We were told by the manager that we would receive a call to confirm 2-3 days before the move (8/13). We never got that call. Since we were picking up boxes, we decided to just drive over to Priest U-Haul. When we got there, the guy told us that the truck was not to be picked up there, but another place. He then fixed the location to Priest and advised us a truck would be held for us which had 53,000 miles and was in excellent condition. On Monday 8/12 we drove over to pick up that truck. The manager advised they did not have that truck, but one with 93,000 miles. I noticed that the truck was full of dents, scrapes and missing paint. We are both senior citizens and had never driven a truck before. So we asked for clear, full and precise information about the truck, how to drive it and any pertinent information which would make such a long drive safe. The manager and worker both seemed rushed and acted annoyed by our questions. They both rushed thru the instructions. We called back the manager again, asking more questions and he took so long to return to us. We were told not to worry, pictures would be sent to us showing the existing damage. We never received the promised photos. His assistant rushed thru our instructions. He was impatient, unfriendly and seemed irritable. I drove the truck back to our home. It was sluggish and seems like it had no get up and go. They had not informed us how to turn off the low gear tow/haul shift! We had to call customer service to walk us thru it, not them! Later on that night we noticed a light in the cab part. The light in the cab and back storage was on. We could have depleted the battery and greatly delayed our departure. Their job is to explain everything so we don't have problems! Again they didn't do their job. They were useless to us. All they want is to get their money ASAP. They then ignore you. Also during the 2300 mile drive, the steering wheel was shaking badly. My hands were very sore every day. Perhaps if they provided me the truck I had been promised, these would not have happened. Our original customer service woman said to contact her once we arrived to discuss a discount for our problems. We did so but could not be connected to her. We were told the president of marketing would call us in 24-48 hours, never happened. We called again and were told that his boss would call us, never happened. Don't EVER trust U Haul. Avoid and beware of ever doing business with them. You have been warned. read more

General Manager Kevin Bybee very unprofessional in communicating with his costumers. I reserved a U-Haul trailer and his associate did all the work. We couldn't get our suv hooked so we told them we would be back with our truck. GM and associate said "as long as you're back by closing." Got our truck and were back 2.5 hrs before closing. We had it reserved and apparently they gave it away when we were gone. We were Not notified of the reversal charge. And now after an hour of waiting we finally got it. Never had this kind of experience. Person that helped us did his best. read more

I tried getting an RV to be attached to my vehicle. The U Haul rep. asked about the type, year and the make of the vehicle. Obviously, I made the reservation, to be in 4 days. When the time came for the RV to be picked up, it turns out that: a. The U Haul rep, put the wrong vehicle on their system. b. They asked me to pay $500+ in order to fix THEIR MISTAKE!! Since I found myself in a pickle, nothing I can do, I had to pay the amount, making my whole total over $1000. Customer service was -100, as when I called trying to speak to someone, they put me on hold for about 33 minutes once they knew that I've had a problem with their services. If I'd have another choice, I would definitely go for it, NEVER THE U HAUL. read more

For the second time (second try) in a week I am cooling my heels for over 15 minutes waiting for the one person on duty to come fill out propane tank. Last time we came the one person certified to fill propane tanks was "busy". As long as you bring a book to read, this is a great place to fill your BBQ tank. read more

I went here this morning to rent a truck for 4 hours. I worked in rental car for about two years. When I did the rental they didn't explain how anything worked. They just told me to find the car and be back by 5pm. I came back and the unfriendly gentleman working returns told me to leave the keys in. I asked twice if everything looked good and I was free to go. He replied with "yes have a good day." No more than 30 minutes later I got a call saying they are going to charge me $75 for a cleaning fee. I have seen some dirty trashed cars and never wanted to do that. There was a cup I forgot and little tiny glass residue in the back. That I wasn't able to pick up without slicing my hand open. Unprofessional. Rude. They will try to scam you out of money. I even attempted to call and was on hold for 30 minutes. Good luck trying to withdrawal MY MONEY. No way they are gonna charge me double of what the rental was for a little bit of glass and a cup. I give this place 1 star solely because the security was nice. The manager Kevin didn't want to rent my boyfriend and I a truck for 2 hours. We have just arrived here from Chicago after driving for 5 days cross country. My license was stolen which apparently is cause for not allowing us to rent a truck. I had met all other requirements, had a photo of the front and back of my ID (which didn't suffice). My boyfriend showed them a passport which also wasn't good enough. Kevin then showed us the "rules" which clearly stated they do NOT need a physical form of ID, only a valid license and photo of front and back of ID and mine was valid and I had both sides photographed. He point blank didn't rent the truck out of principle of not liking ha due to the interaction. Guess we'll keep sleeping on the floor since we can't pick up a bed. Thanks Kevin for the 12/10 service. U-haul you should really check out who manages your stores. read more

I went on a Saturday to get propane. local corner store charges $21.99 to exchange a tank. Uhaul filled mine for $15. It was busy and they were shorthanded. I dealt with Simone and another gentlemen (didn't get his name) but they were awesome! Friendly under pressure! I saved money and was pleased with their service! Highly recommend them. read more

worst uhaul in the world i have waited over an hour. more than once to get 1 propane tank filled. the bell they use outside is terrible and know one that works there cares to let people waiting for propane know that they are aware you are there. employee,s walk by customers without greeting them. im sure im not the only one that has experienced this. read more

If I could leave no stars I would worst customer service ever!!! I made the reservation over the phone for Thursday night and had to move it to Friday due to a 6 car pileup blocking 2 major free ways. We get there early Friday morning to find out they price has gone up, also now I have to pay for it up front. Two things I was told opposite on the phone. I was told a round trip was cheaper then one way. These people don't care about the customs only the money. The Manager also forgot to cancel my order after I told him to. Moving is hard enough especially when the person moving is disabled. Luckily we were able to call the corporate number get a new order some where else. One out of 4 experiences with uhaul is decent it should be 100 out of 100. Customer service makes the whole experience!!! read more
