If I were rating them solely on the deserts, this would be 5 stars all the way. The restaurant has a great history to it, and a good wine list. The beer list is not good, which makes me sad, especially in VT. The entrées are not as good, esp. not at these prices, which are commensurate with better NY area restaurants. Verdict: Skip dinner and drinks, and come here for desert!!!!! Also, during ski season, good luck getting a reservation for a weekend night unless you are multiple weeks out. The wait staff is always very helpful and friendly! read more

Enjoyed a nice evening here. Very quaint ambiance where you feel like you are stepping back in time. Veal dijonaise was probably the only negative as i didnt think it had much flavor. The vermonter was the highlight and it is something I would come back for. Also we ordered some fish (forget which fish) special and it was perfectly cooked. The place is a little pricey but overall a great experience. read more

Beautiful restaurant. Friendly incredible service. The duck is to die for!! Delicious wine & cocktails. The black & blue martini is my fav. Also their escargot is incredible & loved the Vermont cheese stuffed chicken coated in almonds. 10/10 read more

We were able to make a same-day reservation (required due to COVID) for indoor dining. Hostess was welcoming and polite and we saw her chase down a couple in the parking lot to return a credit card that they had left behind. Service and set-up were both great. You can tell that they cleared out tables for social-distancing purposes. There were only 4 tables in our room that normally probably holds 6 or 8. They ask that you keep your mask on until you have ordered your food (which is fine with me)! Our server was friendly and checked up on us, and each course came out in a reasonable amount of time. The Maple Manhattan cocktail was very good. We also had the bruschetta as an appetizer, which was honestly my favorite part of the meal. It had artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, and prosciutto. It's just one large piece of bread but came with a knife to cut it in two. I couldn't resist the soup of the day, which was black bean & sausage and was DELICIOUS. We opted for seafood entrees (a scallop special for my mom, the stuffed shrimp for me) and both were good, but didn't blow me away. I was also VERY full by this time and we ended up taking some leftovers home. read more

Enjoyable place in a comfortable setting. Great if you want a more upscale option when you're in the area. The interior here is well spaced, service was by a team of sweet of middle aged or older women, and the bar is historic...just located in a separate room from the dining area, so best for pre or post dinner drinks. Had bruschetta to start. A hunk of break with big artichokes, SLICES of tomato, peppers etc. on top. I'm used to it chopped, but maybe that's the style here. It was OK. Came into here telling myself to lay off the Vermont cheese (since I'd eaten so much early in the day. So I ordered the Nutty Vermonter. LOADED with cheese, bit ol' hunk of chicken and ham inside. A cordon bleu with nuts on top. Crazy big and filling. Seemed like all area places were a bit over-the-top like this. But solid, nothing spectacular. Found the wine list to be really nice actually. Reasonably prices. The Chateau Pipeau was a great pairing and most bottles seemed in the $35-50 range. read more

Country style dining in a beautiful old country house in Vermont. Two Tannery is rustic and romantic and serves decent comfort food with a few old-fashioned "fancy" dishes. We started off sharing the grilled cheddar, apple and ham appetiser. This was delicious and way less rich than you might think - the apple keeps it light. The menu has a some really good seafood choices and we tried the crabmeat-stuffed shrimp and the grilled rainbow trout. All pronounced delicious. I would say that the service was initially spotty - we arrived, no-one greeted us, and we struggled to get the attention of the hostess and the barman. If you are used to NY style effusiveness and enthusiasm in service levels, the directness of the Vermonters can feel a little brusque. Once we got seated though, the service was great. I'd say 4 stars for this resto in its location (given its competition) - if I transported it to NYC, it would be a 3 stars spot. read more

I searched this place up on google maps and I saw that it was a 4.8 star. My family and I went there and the nice hostess greeted us and said it would only be a few minutes. Next thing you know 10 minutes later and she still hasn't showed up. We finally get seated in a far away room from the actual tavern. . Twenty minutes later our waitress comes up and says what we would like and what we would want to order. We ordered and two hours later our food came out and it was COLD. It was frozen!!! We didn't want to eat so we demanded a refund or a hot dish. IT WAS THE WORST SERVICE I HAD EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. The food was horrible. The only time they pay attention to is when you walk in or leave. The food was very pricy and not hat good Would not recommend this for children adults or any body that has common sense. 1 STAR read more

This place looks amazing... inside and out. *But warning* the meat is DRY AF. My friend and I got the lamb chops.. we get them wherever we go and these were by far the worst we have ever came across. I even tried my other friends almond crusted chicken and it was so dry I thought I was eating sandpaper. I said something to the waitress and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Honestly do not recommend for food. Strictly an atmosphere kind of place. See for yourself if you don't believe me. read more

This is by far the best restaurant in the West Dover area, plain and simple. We have a home in the area, and have been able to try many other restaurants here. Two Tannery always exceeds out expectations, and doesn't fail to impress. The decor is lovely- upscale country, in a structure from the 1700s with ties to Teddy Roosevelt (you'll find memorabilia scattered throughout the restaurant.) The tables are widely spaced, and the noise level is muted. The service was great- very attentive without being obtrusive. But of course the real star is the food. We went most recently for New Years' Eve with some friends and all seven of us had a great meal. I had mussels in a white wine sauce which was so good I needed more bread to dunk in the sauce, and the mussels were perfectly fresh. Others had lobster and corn bisque which was very tasty. Entrees at our table included perfectly medium rare lamb chops, panko encrusted red snapper and stuffed shrimp. A salad course of mixed greens with goat cheese and cranberries was perfectly dressed. Dessert was "chocolate oblivion"- fantastic! Honestly I just had to post this review because I was that pleased with our meal. Can't recommend Two Tannery highly enough! read more

Once again, another restaurant in a ski area that requires reservations. Earlier in the day, we called 4 times at different times to get a reservation to which the phone just kept continuously ringing, and once someone picked up and hung up. After that, we tried to just go to the restaurant, which has a very small parking lot and is not located near much. We walked in and had to wait 10 minutes while the hostess, who I thought was another guest, talked to a friend. When we finally got her attention, she explained they were all booked for the night and we could go eat at the bar, which had about 20 people at it already, with only 10 seats. Tried to explain that we called multiple times to make a reservation and was told that, that couldn't have happened. Never got seated, never ate the food there, but if you do decide to go, good luck getting a reservation! read more

The food was amazing. We started off with the soup of the day, which was fantastic and then ordered the fish of the day the swordfish and the new york strip with peppercorn. The portions were large, the swordfish was well cooked, and the steak was medium juicy and perfect. Would recommend coming here for dinner it's excellent read more

Although the menu was outstanding, the good we got was less than average. I am from the city and enjoy good taste. We had the duck fish, scallops with bacon, and the stuffed trout. We all started that the good was very bland. I'm sorry to say that the cost does not support the meals. I'm giving 3 stars for the ambiance and the customer service. read more

Awesome experience. Super cute, romantic restaurant, and great food. We ordered the escargots and steak tips for appetizers, and the veal and scallop special for our mains - everything was wonderful. This was exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend. read more

I recently learned that new owners had purchased Two Tannery Road. When I learned that it was Tim and Becky Clark who bought Two Tannery, I was thrilled, as they are experienced restaurant operators who have had multiple restaurants in New England for many years. Given the restaurant's longstanding position as one of the top dining destinations in the Deerfield Valley, I was happy to hear that it was once again in good and capable hands. I had the chance to dine there in the past few weeks and the food, decor and service were everything I had remembered and frankly, missed. The duck was as good as ever, and everything else we ate was great as well, from the nutty vermonter to their awesome salad dressing and desserts. I would highly recommend trying Two Tannery Road as the new owners have brought back the warm hospitality which made Two Tannery great in the first place. While there have been some new restaurants opening up in the area, none of them make you feel like you are dining in the country, in Vermont, and that is one of Two Tannery's best assets if you ask me. read more

A group of five of us went to this restaurant without a reservation, and we were accommodated, but very brusquely. The maître d' was surly, and when we tried to make conversation by saying that the weekend was busy with "tough mudders," he said that "wasn't their clientele." However, two people in the restaurant were wearing t-shirts that said "tough mudder." Also, the maître d' didn't respond when we referred to a local person whom we knew he knew. We felt that there was an unpleasant arrogance about the place, even though the food was good. There are many other restaurants in the area that are much friendlier. We happen to have a vacation home that we've lived in for 40 years. We go out to dinner a good deal but won't go back to Two Tannery Road read more

Food was good, service was good. It was a birthday celebration and we had a lovely time.

Our go to favorite for twenty years. Amazing food, service and bar. If you are in the area, don't miss it.

Went here for the first time a few nights ago - we've been vacationing in the area for the last 3 years. The food was very good and everyone - except the host - was very friendly. The host: here's what I have to say about him, "Dear Owners of Two Tannery Road, do not put a surly, poor-attitude person at the front - EVER." It didn't ruin our meal but it definitely made an impression. Why would you even work as a host if you don't like it? This guy could not have conveyed a more negative vibe. I will definitely be back - there were several things on the menu that looked interesting and I liked the architecture and history of the space. read more

DON'T waste your time or money! Ate here (Two Tannery Road) this weekend expecting an upscale, quality meal based on the menu, description and recommendations. Found the staff to be rude and rushing you through your order. Had my menu for 3 minutes and I was being asked what my entree would be. Finally ordered appetizer and dinner. Other than the salad and pate, the food came out COLD. Cold, over cooked duck and COLD baked stuffed shrimp. The waitstaff conveniently ignored us every time they were within 10 feet of the table. We were starving and ate the cold food. NOT worth the price. Gourmet this is NOT. We were greeted with a "how was it" when the forks went down. I replied with "The food wasn't great, it was stone cold, but we were hungry so we ate it and you ignored us for the last 30 minutes" to which we received an i'm sorry and a bill for $110. Besides, who serves mushy asparagus and crunchy wild rice pilaf ... a bad chef. The food - overcooked and mediocre. The service - bad, unattentive and not friendly - they could care less. A complete disappointment. After a day on the mountain, don't waste your time or money here ... Go Elsewhere. read more

This is the best meal I have had in the Deerfield Valley, without question. After living here for a few years my husband and I finally got a babysitter and made reservations. Service was great, Janie our server was super friendly, and we had a great night out! Beyond recommended. read more

Didn't want a lot of food so we just ordered a salad and appetizer. The waitress seemed surprised and made us uncomfortable about not ordering a main dish. There is 1 vegeterian option. We got the old fashion and gin drinks. They were straight alcohol, especially the gin one. If you want to get messed up it may be good but we just wanted to have an enjoyable mixed drink. The dessert was good though. read more

Just had my second dinner here in recent months. Chose it to celebrate my birthday. My husband and I were seated by the fireplace and had great service along with great food. Started off with Baked Vermont cheddar and then had some greens with VT goat cheese. For our main course, I had the filet mignon and my husband had the swordfish. Both were cooked perfectly. Wines by the glass could use a little work -- I don't want to see Yellow Tail by the glass. yikes on that. However, everything else made for a great evening. read more

My husband and I went to Two Tannery Road for dinner this weekend. We were looking forward to an upscale dinner based on the reviews. Unfortunately we did not find our dinner to be upscale. Early June, and not many restaurants are yet open for the summer season. As newcomers to the area, we stumbled upon this tucked away restaurant and experienced fine dining on par with our metropolitan expectations and metropolitan prices. Fillet mignon was flavorful and medium-well, as requested. Salmon cakes were lightly browned, moist, mild and flakey, with a creative yet gentle hand in combining other flavorful ingredients. Dessert was no less impressive. Good wine selection and friendly, attentive service, even on a busy Saturday night. Charming, romantic rustic atmosphere, with average noise level. For this neck of the woods, business casual and dressy sport attire is acceptable attire. read more

Our second time trying this restaurant because I always give places a second chance. This is the best restaurant in the area. It is on par with very good American restaurants in New York. I eat there a few times per year when I am up in Vermont, and it has stayed consistently excellent. I have liked everything I have ordered. Dessert is especially good. Also, has a great bar that knows how to make drinks in the traditional style (the actual bar is from the old Waldorf, by the way). There is an very good wine list as well. I recommend this place highly. read more

Disappointing. Food was average, certainly not meriting the menu prices. We had PEI muscles, tilapia special, and veal. Fish had almost no flavor. We were there on a slowish Wednesday night and it was so quiet in the dining room that you could hear each conversation at the other tables. Background music would help. Other reviews mention the fireplace... and we love a dinner by the fireplace and requested it in the reservation. Although it was a cold evening, in ski season, neither fireplace was used. read more

I can't recommend Two Tannery enough--the food is great and the service is top notch. The mussels we had as an appetizer were outstanding and the salmon main course left me very satisfied.
