We came just before the diner rush. We were a party of 8.5 and was excited to get seated right away. We choose to choose outside of the shopping strip that the restaurant is heated away on one of its corners. They had two picnic tables and marble 4 bistro tables. We were helped right away and our food came out fast. The staff was nice and friendly. The food was good I got raw and fried oysters and my craving was satisfied!! After a long drive from Pittsburgh to OBX with the traffic extending our trip. All we wanted to do was eat. Tried three places and each place wouldn't do take out and was closing at 9 pm. We tried this place and they were closing in 30 mins and took our order. We had it ready in 20 mins. How nice that was of them to have this for us. The food was good. Bottom Line: Lots of TVs, comforting food and friendly staff. Always looking to try something new, my husband and I ventured to Two Roads Tavern for a Saturday night dinner in October. We appreciated the casual atmosphere and friendly staff. For food we enjoyed a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and the brined and fried chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was excellent and I can see why it's a popular menu item. In fact, after four glorious days in OBX eating at our favorite restaurants my husband said that chicken sandwich was the best thing he ate during our trip! There were about seven TVs easily within view and 13 others throughout. We kept an eye on playoff baseball while we dined. Although there are lots of TVs for sports viewing I would describe the decor as "Americana" rather than being sports themed. I like vintage American stuff so I enjoyed checking out the Coca-Cola machines, gas pumps, vintage signage and my favorite - the car hop menu and ordering speaker system. Two Roads Tavern is a gem nestled in the corner of the Seagate North shopping center. The menu boasts a variety of different specialty burgers and several tempting appetizers, like the cheese curds and shrimp dip, which were both excellent. The portion size for the cheese curds was generous as well. The hangover burger comes with cheese, hashbrowns, bacon, and a fried egg-- everything you want for breakfast on a burger. And don't get me started on the maple bacon jam (spoiler alert: you're going to request extra). The mushroom melt burger was what you'd expect: loaded with cheese and mushrooms. The ambiance of the place is laid back with a dive bar vibe-- I specifically remember Nirvana and Alice in Chains being played, which was a nice turn from the pop hits you hear at most other restaurants. TLDR; if it's a burger you want with an alternative rock ambiance, Two Roads is the place for you. read more

We ordered appetizers - fried pickles and cajun cheese curds. The curds were overwhelmed by the batter and not particularly spicy. I enjoyed the pickles, they were well-balanced and maintained a nice crunch. So they batted about .500 there. We got the kids burger, kids chicken tenders, a bison burger, and local tuna sandwich. I like to start with the good and that means discussing the buffalo. The bison burger was awesome. Perfectly pink and moist, it was delicious. The chicken tenders were also good, they had a good amount of spice and were made with high quality chicken. The burger was not good - very overly charred and the bun was crunchy. The fries that came with each dish were limp and laid heavy in my stomach. But sadly, the tuna sandwich was very bad. I ordered it medium rare and it came cooked somewhere between medium to medium-well, losing all flavor in the process. It was also engulfed by the oversized bun. The mayo and aiolis just didn't work for me, although they were pretty flavorful. I will commend them for being very friendly and extraordinarily quick - having our food ready in 15 minutes on a busy Saturday night. But unfortunately, the food didn't match the service. read more

Best burgers. Expect a waiting time. We visited on Sunday and it was very loud. Sunday football though. I know a lot of people were sitting at their tables watching the game. Maybe they need a designated area for those wanting to watch the game for more in and out time for people wanting to eat?? Fries and ranch were great. The waitress asked about her tip though which I thought was different... my fiancé forgot to put the tip on the card and she chased him asking why he didn't leave a tip. So I have been eating here since they first opened. Always fantastic. Food is great!! Love the menu selections. Can't beat the appetizer the gravy fries. So, got to try at the new place where long boards used to be. Like that they have the outside area now. The meal as usual was awesome, but would be a 1.5 star for the inside unfortunately. It was extremely loud inside. Our group basically had to yell to have a conversation, which makes everyone do the same. I really REALLY hope they can do something about that. This place is right down the road from our new home so we had to try it. We went in February so there wasn't any wait for seating. Service was exceptional and our food was amazing. Great place! The inside is really cute. We visited on a Saturday in November around 3 and were seated quickly. We enjoyed raw oysters first and they were so fresh. We asked for hot sauce and the waitress never brought it so we ate them without it because they looked so good. Food came really quick and was delicious. The waitress was really nice. The only thing missing was the hot sauce for the oysters she forgot to bring. For four of us it was about $100 with the tip. We will be back! read more

We wanted to try a new-to-us restaurant, and this time it was Two Roads Tavern. In all honesty, we didn't eat at the restaurant, instead we ordered the food from the bar to take home with us. The restaurant atmosphere was interesting - a mix between a dive bar and someone's home bar. When ordered the BACON MAC N JAP burger. It was a hearty burger with jalapenos and mac and cheese on top, bacon jam on the bottom, and a side of hand cut fries. The burger and fries were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The meal was definitely big enough for two people to share. $16 for a burger - not too bad if you share, if each person needs one, maybe a little high. Overall, don't think the atmosphere is for us, but will return again to order takeout. read more

I saw this place rated highly, so I figured it was worth a try. My group arrived on a Saturday evening - 9 in total - and were given an hour wait. None of us were surprised; we knew we risked a long wait by not calling ahead, and even considered trying other places in the area. After going back and forth hoping to find a shorter wait at another restaurant, we ended up back at the Two Roads Tavern. Once inside, we were greeted with a clean, friendly atmosphere. For having an hour wait, it was oddly empty; we seemed to be the only ones there, with the exception of a few people at the bar. We had, however, watched a number of people leave before our table was ready, so I guess it must have cleared out. Still, a little strange if you ask me. Service was excellent. I ordered the Bacon Mac N Jap burger, cooked in vegetable oil (as I am allergic to peanuts and did not want to risk a burger cooked in peanut oil). It came out quickly, and did not disappoint. The burger was juicy, jalapeños spicy, mac n cheese creamy, and the bacon jam tied the whole thing together. In the blink of an eye my burger was gone, and a second later, so were my fries. I thought the price was very reasonable for how good of a burger it was. I'm definitely keeping this place on my list; I'd love to come back for round two of the Bacon Mac N Jap! 4/5 read more

This was another OBX find for authentic and five star fried/baked oysters, shrimp, clams, chicken etc. Hidden in the corner of a strip mall, this was the best seafood we have ever had in the Outer Banks. Large roomy bar restaurant with lots of TV's, following all the pandemic rules. Great beers on tap, but go there for the fried oysters. They had the perfect crunch and bite, and a great white dipping sauce. My shrimp Po boy was the best I have every had on a buttered and toasted bun. The pickle brined and fried chicken was a juicy delight. And their hamburger choices were very good, elevated and hitting all the right marks. Had some great oysters here! Both raw and cooked. I tried the oysters outer banks, which comes with all 3 kinds of oysters: kill devil hills, kitty hawk, and nags head. I liked the nags head one the most. The raw oysters were also really big. We also got the chipotle shrimp dip, which was great. It has big pieces of shrimp in the bottom. This place did NOT disappoint! Every time I go out of town it's so hard for me to find a new place to eat. I searched high and low to find a good place to eat that I haven't tried in OBX and after seeing the pictures, there's no way I couldn't stop by Two Roads Tavern. Came by on a Monday afternoon, we got sat right away. The waitress was really sweet, took our drink orders and got them out super quick. Ordered an appetizer, which were Cajun cheese curds with a jerk cream sauce and they were AMAZING! I've never had cheese curds with a Jamaican jerk cream dipping sauce before, but it was on point! For the entrees, we got a fried shrimp po boy and a crab cake sandwich. The shrimp on the po boy was fried to perfection and very well seasoned. Came with lettuce and tomato and a really think aoli sauce. The crab cake sandwich came on a brioche bun (my fave), with lettuce tomato and red onion. It also came with an aoli sauce that was super delicious. We both got sweet potato fries which tasted better than any sweet potato fries I've had in my entire life! So amazing! I normally won't go back to the same restaurant that I've been to before while out of town but I'm definitely going back to this place. It's so good. Oh, and they have a million TV's and a large bar!
