We did not notice the 6 in scratch on her dresser until a few days later. As I stated in my initial response, they said they would send me a complaint form or I could do it on line. Father and Son Moving in Sp have more reasonable rates and don't hoodwink you into paying unnecessary insurance. Elderly were taken advantage of. $336.25 PLUS tip to move 1 chair 7 minutes away. Trained medical staff in Med e Vac moved patient same distance for $80... Something not adding up here. Tried to point out unfairness to be told the 85 year old signed the agreement! DON'T DO IT!!! Well, it's been a year since I've heard from Two Men and a Truck about my insurance claim. Boy, what a scam! I bought their insurance for moving my stuff, I report to them what they scratched, or broken. However, Two Men and a Truck gets to decide what items are reimbursed on that claim. Meanwhile, they came back to try and fix my scratched furniture. But they don't have a lot of experience fixing scratches or moving furniture. Unfortunately for me, I keep finding scratches and dents on my wooden furniture which reminds me, "What a FOOL I was for hiring Two Men and a Truck". Their truck we used was too small, so I needed to rent a truck at U-haul. They didn't have any moving equipment, first aid kits, or moving experience. Just inexperienced kids who rolled my furniture down my driveway and didn't apologize for it. Anyway, their BOSS was playing for time so the statute of limitations would expire on the insurance claim because he stopped taking my calls over a year ago. Go figure! read more

I contracted Two Men and a Truck to move my daughter from a small one bedroom apartment to another apartment in town, allowing for another stop to drop off a washer and dryer for storage. The quoted price was ok, as the move should've taken about 2 hours, based on previous moves, renting a truck myself; I didn't do it this time, since I have been receiving PT and other treatments for my knees. This move took about 5 hours! The guys were courteous and careful, but it just took entirely too long. My daughter and I even moved many small packages to our cars ourselves, just to give us something to do. This ended up costing much, much more than I anticipated, due to the extra 3 hour service time. I gave verbal feedback on the company voice mail system, asking for follow-up. There were only 2 attempts to contact me to discuss the situation. I called back once, but it is difficult to speak with a "live" person on their phone system. read more

We moved twice this year, in January from out of state and just three weeks ago to Chatham. We decided to get a Uhaul and called Two Men and a Truck to help us unload. We had everything set up with Two Men and a Truck to help us unload on Sat., 7/6/24. They were to come between 1:30-3:30, around 3:00 after not hearing from them we called the office and got their voicemail. We tried to get a hold of someone via text only to find out their office closes at noon on Saturdays so the text goes to their office. Four hours later, at 7:30pm, Seth called and left a message stating the movers couldn't make it today and needed to reschedule. I'm glad I didn't hear the phone as I wouldn't have been kind, no kidding no one from your company is coming today and we need to reschedule...meaning all of our items would be in the Uhaul and we would incur additional expense for not returning the Uhaul in time. I didn't bother to call back as I found another moving company, Prime Moovers, on that Saturday afternoon. And thanks to the owner, Alex, who can be reached anytime on the weekend unlike Two Men and a Truck, came within the hour at 5:00 and unloaded everything himself. I did receive another call during the week from Travis who wanted to find out what happened, I filled him in and he did apologize. I'm just surprised a moving company that's been around as long as they have never thought to have a way for their customer to get a hold of them after hours when they still have moves scheduled. This was by far the worst moving experience I have ever had. The movers were slow and inexperienced. they were not professional, used profanities and argued amongst themselves in front of us. they did not properly wrap the furniture and caused damage to a majority of our furniture. they also left furniture behind and we ended up having to help movers after I had to have one of them kicked off of the property for his behavior towards us and damaging the walls and doors inside our old home that now we have to repair. one of the truck drivers damaged a tree by backing into it and then called an Uber and left, leaving the truck with no driver. the company failed to send an adjuster to take pictures of the damaged furniture and we have now submitted a claim to 3 different individuals at the local company. the company has had more than a few chances to make things right but has dropped the ball on every occasion. I wouldn't even want them to haul my junk as they would probably tear your house up taking it to the truck. but never fear they have 120 days to respond to your claim. If you are looking to live in a moving nightmare this is the company for you. read more

I hired two men and a truck to load a one way U-Haul for a cross country move. For the booking, I spoke with Elizabeth who was clear that the men she had available on my date were capable of loading my furniture to create a balanced load full of my furniture and belongings for the 1000 mile journey. The men were friendly at first but soon tired of the work for the move. Rather than pack and load my items to create a tight fit, they loaded my items flat along the floor of the truck creating a blockage. After a few hours, the truck floor was full, but there was 6-7 feet of open space on top of the first level of packing; the method created an inability to load boxes on top of the furniture. When I questioned them, earlier in the day, they told me they would load the boxes later. At the end of the day, when I asked how the boxes could be added, they informed me that I could pay them hourly to remove the items and load a different way. Lighter boxes were towards the front and heavy furniture was in the center and the back of the truck creating an imbalanced load that heavily damaged my furniture in transit. The movers from Two Men and a Truck only used the blankets (while called moving blankets, they were thin and many tore during the journey) from Two Men and a Truck; the blankets were useless, thin blankets, incapable of protection. The movers buried multiple packages of blankets from U-Haul which I rented to adequately cover my items and protect from damage in transit. Nearly every furniture piece was damaged beyond repair. The movers were rude, unprepared, and inept in their skills. The load bounced in part because it was not tightly packed, not tied down with the straps I purchased (the movers hid the straps below my barbeque grill). After the movers from Two Men and a Truck moved each piece out of my home, they sat for a 15 minute break driving up the charges needlessly. Boxes marked "china" and "fragile" were packed at the bottom of tall stacks of boxes marked "heavy" and "bottom load," while "top load" boxes were at the bottom. Altogether, it was a horrendous move with inadequately trained staff, rude management when confronted with the trouble, and incredible damage sustained needlessly. I had more than 90 packed boxes left behind in what the movers called a "fullly loaded" truck that had 7 feet of open space across the entire 30 foot.long truck. It cost me $13,000 to hire another mover to move the items left behind and hundreds more to fly back across the country to supervise a second move. Two Men and a Truck cost me far more than the charges for the move and the damage incurred. Listen when reviewers say Buyer Beware and DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THESE MOVERS!! Edited to Add: Two Men and a Truck responded to this review with a "sorry that this happened" and a statement that they are not doing this service anymore on my Google review. This should make it completely clear to everyone to NEVER use this mover; there is not even a resolution suggested. More than $5000 worth of furniture, china, etc was damaged and you will get a "sorry this happened." Good businesses take responsibility for their mistakes and make them right. read more

From the quoting process to moving day, everything was as simple as possible. Two Men and a Truck was prompt, respectful and worked like champs. They made it easy. Only one scratch on the floor, which given they were moving a 300lb treadmill to a basement, I was not upset with at all. They had lots of protective equipment and sometimes things just happen. This company was easy to work with and all pricing was up front. We used two men and a truck to move my in-laws from their home of 35 years to a retirement community. Ben and Charles were fantastic. My in-laws apartment is on the third floor at the far end of the building. Ben and Charles were courteous and careful as they moved furniture out of their home and into their apartment. I don't think I've heard no problem or my pleasure so much. They were constantly telling us if we needed any help moving anything around just to let them know. I hired 4 guys and really only two were excellent and actually worked. Theft was involved and the company stated they would reimburse the stolen items and after a month have done nothing . Horrible experience. The packers refused to pack everything and omitted the laundry room and bathrooms then blamed me for not telling them to pack every room. The move cost over double the estimate because they stood around vaping then tried to leave before completing the job because they had another job to get to. The supervisor said they were working when he was there, which was true. However, without a supervisor they were sloths who ignored my requests for help and were generally incompetent. The next day they called and had the nerve to charge me an extra $1300, making for a total cost nearly triple the estimate even though I packed 70% of the house myself before they arrived. I asked for a discount and was told "The StTe of Illinois doesn't allow us to discount-not even senior or military discounts". Really-the state regulates pricing? Sounds like a bald faced lie to me. If I could leave half of a star I would. I'm am extremely dissatisfied with this moving company. I have to admit, they did show up on time and finished rather quickly, but that's the only good things I can say about them. First, they broke my computer desk and said they would submit a claim for me. Five days later I received an email from the company telling me to sign the complaint form and in two to three weeks I would be receiving a check for the value of the computer desk. It has been three weeks so I called today and spoke with someone at their office. I was told that they would forward this to someone in accounting and they would be giving me a call back. Secondly, they lost a wheel to my bed. When I called them that day they said they would look in their truck. They didn't find it and suggested that I look in my driveway. I did, but it wasn't there. I called the person living at my old address and asked them to look. It was dark outside and they didn't see it. They finally found it the next day laying in the grass, but in the meantime I had to use books to balance my bed. I did call the office on 02/07/20 at approximately 2:30 pm. That is when the person in the office told me she would have to turn the matter over to someone in accounting about me getting reimbursed for my damaged computer desk. I was initially told it would be two to three weeks. It has been three weeks going on a month and I still haven't been reimbursed for my damaged computer desk. My next stop will be a complaint when the Better Business Bureau if I am not reimbursed. read more

I've waited to write this review to give the company a chance to fix the problems encountered during our experiences with them; however, after multiple BBB communications this does not seem like it is likely. My hope is that this review helps a potential customer or inspires this branch of Two Men and Truck to rethink their approaches to customer service. This whole move was not right almost from the start of the day. The movers arrived over an hour outside of their arrival window, had a loud and obscenity-laced argument in the middle of the building that was being moved into, ruined a chair and caused damage to the building itself. The move supervisor told us to call the next day and his manager would make it right, yet the conversations with both the regional and site managers have been at best useless and at worst condescending. I would not recommend this company to anyone but especially beware if you are female or have furniture and/or property you don't want ruined or damaged. read more

I would not recommend using Two Men and a Truck. We hired them for our move across town in June because they were the only company we found that could do transport. There were several issues the day of the move. Loading the furniture went fine and took about as long as we expected. When they unloaded the furniture into our new home several items were damaged. There were 9 items damaged including our wood floor, a bookcase, the washer, a dresser, a nightstand, our mattress, the kitchen table, the entertainment center, and our bed. Someone from Two Men and a Truck did come out while the move was still happening to start a damage report since the delivery men called in one of the damaged pieces. Some of the damage they notified me of, but most I discovered myself or witnessed happen. The mattress and bed were discovered after they left and added on to the damage report. The unloading took much longer than expected, especially considering the loading was on track for where I thought it should be. There were multiple times the movers took breaks and several breaks were for longer than I would have expected them to be. I have no issues with taking a break when needed, but don't know that I should have to be paying for breaks that lasted over 20 minutes each. I just wanted it done so I didn't say anything and didn't contest the time I had to pay for, but that's just a side note and another reason I wouldn't recommend them. The damage and amount of time it took to resolve the issue is my major complaint. I was originally followed up with within the week and then told I would hear more a few days later. Two months later I followed up since I never heard back. I was told the insurance company would be contacted and then I'd get an update. Three weeks later I follow up again since I didn't hear anything. Still no word, so I contacted the corporate office a week later. They contacted the Springfield office and I was told the person I was working with no longer worked there and somehow my claim was missed when his work was taken over. I then worked with a new person who was very apologetic about everything and got all the information as quickly as he could while making sure it was thorough and accurate. My experience was much better at this point thanks to him, but it still took a little time to get everything sorted, get all the details and figure out what way to go. We finally did end up with a settlement and I signed the papers and sent it back in. However, that's when a lack of communication started again. I received the papers to sign on 10-17 and signed and sent them back 10-18. I had been previously told that a check would be sent out within a week of receiving the signed paper. I received no confirmation email or any follow up after I sent in the signed paper and hadn't received a check, so I followed up on 11-5. I didn't hear anything back, so I called on 11-9 and was told they'd follow up and have an update 11-11. I never heard anything back. The check did arrive 11-14 (dated 11-11), but it still would have been nice to have received an update since I was told I would. I was going to call back that day until I saw the check had arrived. Overall, it took nearly 5 months for the claim to be settled, there was a severe lack of communication, I think I was overcharged in the first place since it seems the move could have been done faster, and the fact there was damage at all is what led to the ongoing issues. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because they did finally settle the claim. read more

I attempted to get a very minimally filled 2 bedroom apartment moved from Springfield to Urbana. They gave me a prompt estimate after filling out the info online, but they seem to never answer the phone. They have you set up a time to talk to them through an online app and if you don't answer the phone promptly (my person called a few minutes before the window) then you are screwed. I called back the number 3 times over the next 10 minutes and finally got somebody to tell them I am going with a different mover. I told them if I have any issues with the move that I need a company that I can call and actually be responsive. Dates of Encounters were July 9, 10, 11, and 12. read more

Of course when she called to report the missing rings the very next morning, the company claimed they could do nothing. This is the 9th review of 2 Men and a Truck in Springfield and 5 are 1 star. BEWARE! As you can see, this is my second 1 star review. They disassembled my father's bed to move him to assisted living. Very stressful situation when things had to be right. They lost several of the fasteners that lock the frame and left without fixing the problem. I had a difficult time finding them, had to call corporate, and ended up in a panic going to ACE Hardware myself. Luckily some of the fasteners were found on my Dad's carpet. This took several hours and a lot of stress. I was late for my plans that night in Chicago and had to pay extra for the rental car. When I tried to talk to corporate, the Springfield office, and the franchise owner, they all said, "it's not our job to assemble furniture. We are uninterested in paying you for the time you had to go to the hardware store". When I disputed the charge, the franchise owner gave Chase the paper that I signed right before they rushed away. If you hire them(good luck), DON'T sign anything until you know everything is in working order. Badly run with no responsibly taken-that's why they continue to get bad reviews. 1. many of my belongings were left behind during move even though there was still room on the truck (nothing was stacked higher than 5 feet tall (ie nothing was stacked over my head) movers stated they couldn't add more because they would be overweight (I was quoted for an 8000 lb move and my belongings only ended up weighing 5000 lbs, therefore all of my belongings could have fit on truck. I had to rent a second set of movers and truck to finish the move. (the movers also lied about how many boxes were left behind--they said there were 12 boxes left behind but they left 12 in the living room and an ENTIRE ROOM of boxes was never touched for a total of about 40ish boxes--filled 1/2 of a 10 foot Uhaul truck and weighed much less than the 3000 lb difference between my quote and what was moved) 2. many of my small furniture pieces were damaged/dented/pieces lost 3. freshly painted walls in house I was leaving were damaged, as were walls in house I was moving into (a brand new built apartment) 4. hard wood floors and stairs in both locations were horribly damaged. 5. move took hours longer than was quoted. 6. half of the moved items were supposed to go to a storage locker but the movers screwed up and brought over 30 boxes to the apartment instead of the storage locker even though everything was labeled as to where it was going. I was left with renting a second truck to move all of the items. 7. insurance claim filed with moving company and after months of waiting because I don't have photos of my undamaged floors and walls prior to the move to prove that the movers did the damages my claim was denied and now I am responsible for thousands of dollars worth of damages to refinish hard wood floors and staircase and repainting of house (which had already been repainted the week prior to the move!) (note I did not even include all of the damages in the claim as I didn't feel including the small inexpensive pieces of furniture that were damaged seemed worth it compared to the major damages to floor and wall) read more

1 bedroom apartment - Only thing heavy was my armoire - 6 ft tall - expensive - they put it on a regular dolly did not strap it down - took 20 min to get it down stairs - put it on dolly - not up and down but long way - dolly was stuck at end of stairs - got it into new place after strapping it down - What makes me the most upset is I tipped 20 a piece for both guys and after they left - saw that it had huge marks on both sides and the hinges on door was bent back - could not open door - The best part was when putting sheets on bed - it was wobbly and seen they had not screwed in the bolts - did not have the tools to screw them in and had to call a friend from taylorville to come and fix it or I would have ended up on the floor. Moving is stressful enough without people that should know what they are doing and do not have a clue. I just wish I had not tipped these 2 guys who did not care and made my move a nightmare. The men were professional and courteous, respected both homes and took care in not making a mess (moved in the rain) and kept things packed carefully and securely. They were on time and got right to work. This is the way to go! Moving is always a huge stress - they made it very easy. And... quote was spot on; no hidden fees or extra charges. Can't beat it!
