This company unfortunately seems hit or miss. After having a good experience with them last year,…read morewe re-hired them to move again this year. The arrival window was 1-4pm. At 4pm, they hadn't arrived and we hadn't heard anything so my husband called the office only to be told that the office could not get ahold of the crew. After about 30 minutes, they called back saying the moving crew was having an issue with their truck. While it's understandable that things happen and are out of their control, it was the lack of notice that really bothered us. Once they determined something was going on with that crew they promised that a new crew could come at 7pm, saying "they will 100% be there." 5:30pm rolled around and we got a call that the move was cancelled because the crew did not want to work that late and our only other option was the next day at 1pm but we had to be out of the apartment in the morning. Because it was already 5:30pm, it was nearly impossible to find any help and we ended up having to recruit some very nice friends to help. Had we known right away that there was an issue, we could have started moving ourselves earlier or tried to find back up. So again, while mistakes and things happen it was the lack of communication that really spoke to how they run a business and why I would not recommend taking the gamble booking with this company again.

Summary: + good price…read more+ fast and overall fine service + overall nice workers - poor communication - some unprofessionalism - some damages I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately landed on 3. I want to provide enough context so anyone considering Solidarity Movers can make an informed decision. Overall, this was one of the better moves I've had, but not one that warrants the 5-star reviews I see here. My husband and I moved from MA to NY due to family circumstances. The move was already stressful before it began, which is relevant because Solidarity was recommended by a friend who had a great experience with them. Given some poor experiences I've had with movers in the past, I felt confident choosing them. Unfortunately, things started off rocky. I completed a video walkthrough, received an initial quote, and then requested a revision. After that, communication stalled. Multiple follow-ups went unanswered, and I couldn't even get confirmation that my request was being worked on. After about a day of silence while other companies were responding consistently, I was ready to book elsewhere and left a review reflecting my experience. Within minutes, owner Zak called me. He was understanding, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my concerns. Communication improved immediately, I received the revised quote, and their pricing felt fair, so I booked the move. A couple of weeks before the move, I reached out to confirm everything was still on track and asked about payment. I was told, in writing by Mike, that the remaining balance would be due "upon completion of your move." To me, that clearly meant after delivery. The move was scheduled for June 19 with overnight delivery on June 20. The crew was originally expected between 12 PM and 2 PM but arrived around 4 PM due to traffic. Traffic happens, and I had no issue with the delay itself. The crew was polite, worked efficiently, and seemed to handle our belongings with care. Unfortunately, this is where my experience started to decline. While packing, I overheard two crew members make a joke about my husband and me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was disappointing to become the subject of a gay joke, especially from a company that publicly projects queer allyship. I chose not to make an issue of it, but another customer may have felt differently. Once loading was complete, the foreman informed me that the remaining balance was due immediately. This directly contradicted the written communication I had received. When I raised the issue, Mike acknowledged there had been a miscommunication but insisted I still had to pay on the spot. What made the interaction frustrating was how dismissive he came across. He stated this was standard procedure and said he would investigate the miscommunication, but unless there is another Mike, the miscommunication originated with him. Rather than create additional stress for myself, I paid the balance and moved on. To be clear, I still tipped the crew generously because they worked hard. By the end of the move, they had received $1,200 total in gratuity, or $400 per mover. The next day, delivery was delayed again due to traffic, but the unloading process itself was quick and organized. The crew followed instructions, reassembled our storage bed, and got everything into the house efficiently. After unloading, I was asked to sign paperwork stating everything had been delivered without damage. This struck me as odd because we hadn't unpacked a single box yet, so there was no realistic way to verify that. Like many people at the end of a move, I signed because I was exhausted and just wanted the process finished. While unpacking later, I discovered our $1,500 credenza had been damaged. Two interior shelves were broken, one completely split in half. Several glass items were also broken in transit. Nothing irreplaceable, but damage nonetheless. Could I file a claim? Sure. But after an already stressful interstate move, I don't have the time or energy to go through another lengthy process. Instead, I'm leaving this review so others can make an informed decision. Despite everything, I would still consider recommending Solidarity Movers, especially for a local move. The crew worked hard, and this was far from the worst moving experience I've had. However, the communication issues, payment confusion, dismissive handling of that confusion, inappropriate comment, and damage to our belongings prevent me from rating the experience higher. If you're reading reviews because you're planning a move and trying to make the best decision possible, I hope this helps. Wishing you the best of luck!

Moving is never easy. It is probably one of the most stressful events to have to go through. I have…read moremoved several times throughout my life so far and have been through all kinds of experiences because of it with moving companies. What happened on Friday, September 17 was by far the most pleasant move I have ever experienced. Vaja (I hope I am spelling his name right) and his partner arrived at 9:15am, and despite the lack of parking options on that street, was able to get going with the move. The loading up at pick up point was executed quickly, and off they went. There was a lot of traffic getting from Manhattan to Brooklyn so at the drop off I had to wait for them a little bit, but I knew from my own ride into Brooklyn it would take them a moment to get there. When they arrived they had the help of one additional mover, and together all three got my stuff into the storage space in no time at all. Any challenges earlier in the day between parking the truck and traffic soon disappeared with smiles and good cheer as the job completed. The job was done by 12:15pm. No supplies were left behind at either pick up or drop off. I would say based on the performance of not just the movers but in the organization process, and customer service given, that I would work with Simply Moving and Moved.com again should I have to move in the future. ***HIGHLY RECOMMENDED***

Bait‑and‑Switch -- Final Cost Was Over 3× the Quote…read more If you're considering this company, Google "Verity Van Line Complaints." I wish I had. My written estimate was $2,392. After a date change and storage, it jumped to $3,956. Then, while they had my furniture, they demanded another $3,529.81 or they wouldn't release it. Final cost: $7,529.81 -- more than THREE TIMES the original quote. This was a blatant bait‑and‑switch and a hostage move. (I'd also like to note that if my salesperson had been honest and forthright and given me a total of over $7,000, instead of telling me to just give them a check for $4,000, two days prior to my move, I would have canceled them as I had another mover on hold just in case. The crews were unprofessional and aggressive. Antiques were shoved into boxes, no FRAGILE stickers, furniture wasn't wrapped, bedding was not in a sanitary bag, everything smelled like cigarettes, and they even tried to give me two TVs that weren't mine. ( There is no inventory list. They just put stickers on everything after the fact .) My garage was ransacked and my late father's fishing gear disappeared. I paid $400 for insurance that they never provided and was charged for unpacking which they didn't do. I now have over $5,000 in damages in my furniture. Michael Mafucci is dismissive and condescending towards me. His "solution" was to send "his guy who knows how to fix things" over and offer me $1,000. Here's the part that really stands out: Men who file complaints seem to get results. As a senior woman, I was dismissed and placated. (A complaint I filed with the BBB has still not been addressed, while complaints filed by men are addressed and treated with a sense of urgency)* There are honest Moving Companies out there. This is not one of them. *UPDATE: The Complaint was answered by an unidentified person who is now claiming my job was two separate moves! Obviously they didn't review the documents or even their own emails, and this response is unacceptable.
