AVOID AT ALL COSTS! In 2024, Public Storage purchased the storage space in Island Park, NY where I had leased two units for several years. Immediately, in January 2025 the cost was increased by $202 per month for my units. Then again, July 1, 2025 - six months later - the price was increased another $300 per month. That's a total of $502 more per month, or 34 percent increase! Outrageous! That is obscene, obviously - but it's still not the worst part. When I called the local property manager to leave several messages, no one returned my call. I tried the 1-800 number listed on the website, but that sends me to an advertisement for medical alert. There is literally no way to speak to a human being. I called and entered the prompt to rent more storage space, thinking I could speak to someone. The man who answered said he could only transfer me and would not share the actual number. After being transferred and waiting for 20 minutes, a woman answered and offered to have a district rep call me back within 24 hours. That has not happened either. AVOID AVOID AVOID PUBLIC STORAGE. If you already have a Public Storage leased unit, check your account online. They do not notify you. Rather, they just keep adding increases to your credit card on the autopay. Thieves. read more

RENTER BEWARE. signed a contract summer of 2025 for $102.00 a month and was told insurance was required for an additional $15.00 per month. I spoke to a manager who assured me that as long as I didn't make a change (reduce or increase size) my monthly cost would not change. As of December 1 2025 they've increased my amount an additional $46.00 a month. My new monthly amount is $163.00 after only 3 months! LOOK ELSEWHERE read more

STAY AWAY horrific service, manager arrogance, increasing of payments to over double what rented it for within a year. I had to change units and move everything to maintain a manage price. a 5x10 that started at 120 went to over 210 dollars. absolutely the worst experienc. the app is useless and so is the live chat. a flim-flam storage facility utilizing shifty pricing shenanigans and totally lacking in customer service awareness--reserve online to get the cheapest prices, but when you come to sign up for the room they will not show you the room you'll be renting unless you pay the alleged 'regular' price--and if you don't like how far the unit is from the elevator or entrance, they will not refund you the so-called 'administrative fee' for the privilege of bringing them business--a call to a regional manager confirmed their grimy practices--hiding behind technology charades to justify their constantly changing prices, rather than helping potential customers feel secure and welcome--you do not operate this way unless you have something to hide or are merely giving customers rights the finger with this computer-generated sleight of hand.....they have numerous area facilities and i trust this fish stinks from the head down at all their locations--too many storage facilities around to be demeaned and exploited this way--do not rent space at public storage! read more

I desperately need a place to store my belongings as I was between dwellings & leaving on a business trip. A dispatcher found a space for me nearby & helped me get into the facility after office hours with instructions on my phone. I was a life saver. I've been to a few public storage locations and this place is truly among the best. First I'll start with the staff (I spent a bit of time in the office numerous times) - Steve and Trini were on staff and were so professional, helpful and really polite and friendly. 1) they were very clear about the rules/contracts 2) they were very knowledgable about what can fit into which size space (recommendations on size) 3) were very helpful in trying to get us the best rates quickly 4) had no problem in switching our current space to a larger space and were nice enough and knowledgeable about the premises in choosing a space. They knew that a certain space was an easier location to move to because it was closer to an elevator, but also that someone had something that had leaked from the unit next door so they chose one that was still close, but also clean. 5) Helpful in going up and fixing anything in a unit in order to make sure it was perfect (had to tighten a screw on something) These are just a few of the ways that they were above and beyond staff at other storage facilities. The facilities in general are kept very clean and well lit/not too cold. Also, just to add...while I was waiting in the office there were at least 3 other customers that came in there and were happy to see both Steve and Trini...that always looks good. Overall, I'd choose this location over others in the area that are just a bit cheaper. read more

If I could give less then that I would. I am beyond disgusted. My bill went up almost $50 a month.. Thats insane, the elevators are constantly down AND THERE ARE RARELY ANY LIGHTS THAT WORK NEAR MY UNIT. I am absolutely fed up with Public Storage. How does a bill go up $50 a month. I've never rented a storage facility before, and I was a little nervous about the whole thing. The man who was working could not have been any more helpful! He showed me all around the day before I was moving in. He showed me how to enter the passcodes, where to get the hand carts, and how to open and lock my storage unit, I. I left there feeling so comfortable with the whole thing - he really made a huge difference! I've already gone back to add a few more things and it is so easy! I would give more stars if i could!! read more

Legitimately the WORST customer service I have EVER received. I pay EVERY single bill in my life on-time, including this one, and I asked a simple billing question that the front desk could not help me with. I asked to speak to a manager and received no callback. I called the Public Storage hotline and got in touch with the division managers voicemail, and STILL no callback. I also went on LinkedIn and messaged the local director. It has been over a week and not ONE person has reached out to see if I need help, or to simply answer my question. The billing system is broken on the website and yet I was forced to use it, and then pay late charges, so im basically being robbed of my money. I was forced to pay and have now canceled my storage unit and will be going through the hassle of moving units so I do not have to deal with these people again. I will NEVER recommend this place and I am appalled (as a retail executive myself) that not ONE of the multiple "managers" I have reached out to, has reached back out to me. Awful job and POOR service! read more

This is a fair warning about this storage unit! They will wait until you sign up with their special offer, then increase the price. Then when you go to leave it is basically up to the individual manager if they will only charge you part of the month even if you aren't there the entire month. Very unprofessional and company lets individual managers go unchecked. read more

While Sandy lift of my house. I was forced to move twice. The second time. I couldn't find a place, so I Got a storage space. Next day a place came through. I hadn't used storage locker and returned key & locks the next day. Managers can only approve cancellation but was assured it be fine. Despite 15 calls and in person visits nobody would return calls or refund any portion of $500 deposit. Even though they took possession back within 24 hours they jerked us around and didn't process for 14 days even though I have signed return the next day. Guess big business doesn't care for local community!!!! Please be careful I used them because they were big now I wished I used a true local business. read more

Trini welcomed us and gave us very detailed information about the rental. He showed us the size of the room we wanted. I went home and reserved the space on line (for a cheaper rate). After a long move in super hot weather, this facility was a welcomed change. It was cool, clean and well maintained (even the bathrooms). Upon arriving, Brenda stopped sweeping the office sales floor and promptly greeted us. We told her what we needed and she immediately began helping us with the storage rental process by taking a moment to assess our spatial needs. Later, she showed us how the security access code box works as well as where our dry, well lit rental unit was located inside the facility. After seeing the unit, Brenda encouraged us to check out the various sale items in the office before going over important aspects of our rental agreement with us; we finalized things with purchasing a lock. As she predicted, I actually did end up purchasing some tape from her (a few days later) to reseal some boxes that accidentally opened while moving in. Overall, my friend and I are pleased with our choice to rent at Public Storage and I encourage other people with storage needs to check out their offerings before looking elsewhere. Terrible experience with these folks. They had a pipe burst on their property which destroyed much of the goods I had in the storage unit. Although I had some insurance it was nowhere near enough to cover losses. Even though it was totally their fault they have refused to reimburse me one cent. To think I put my stuff in there for safekeeping . Moral of story--stay away from this company! read more
