I've been using storage spaces for many, many years. This place is clean, secure, friendly and easy accessible. Reason for changing though is the continual unit rentals cost increasing every 6 months or so. What started at a certain price, after 3 years, it almost tripled. Granted, inflation is high, but one is "stuck" until another viable option is available. Other than that, I would recommend this storage but I would strongly suggest to pay at least one year in advance. read more

We stored our stuff here for about 18 months, all of our belongings were destroyed by mold. The insurance company won't cover because it says there wasn't a "water event." What does Climate Controlled even mean? Doesn't apply to moisture? All of our stuff had to be thrown away. Even the things that didn't have visible mold, smelled so bad of mold that nothing could be salvaged.The facility won't take any responsibility, and I've been told by twitter that a District manager will call. They never call. Do not ruin your stuff at this place. read more

I leased two units in Freeport preparing for a move to a new home. The space is kept perfectly clean, well-lit, secure, and there are always dollys available. And, the rates are very reasonable. When my schedule got mixed up on moving day, Bill in the office was great. He was extremely helpful in making the necessary arrangements so that the movers were able to load my belongings. THE FRONT GATE IS SHOCKING PEOPLE AND ROGER THE MANAGER COULD CARE LESS. It's been over a month and is now the 4th time I've been shocked by pressing the * key on the front gate key pad. Last time I was in physical pain for over a day and a half from a STRONG shock. I went to tell ROGER the manager and he called me a liar. I go back today and I get shocked BAD on the first time I press the * key. I went in the office to tell Roger called me a liar and SHUT THE DOOR ON ME. I am now in major physical pain for the 4th time from using that key pad and THEY DONT CARE. This is the most unprofessional and negligent business I've ever be ever been a part of. At first I thought this place was great, rented here for a few years, although the cost of rent kept going up, I didn't argue. The more I think about this facility, the angrier I get. It was impossible to park because it must have been a shared lot with trucks allowing only one or two spots for renters. We drove passed the morning Hurricane Irene was going to hit and the only precautions this space took was to board the windows up with little pieces of cardboard. After the storm, we checked on our unit approximately one week later and there were puddles of water in the walkways inside the building. Water had gotten in and flooded. The whole facility smelled like mold and was hard to even stomach. The water was not cleaned up, and nothing was done about it. Yes extra space sent an email out a week later, but that was not good enough. Every box that was on the floor was saturated with water, and mold and our stuff was ruined. Although we did not have insurance, I still think there should have been some kind of remedy to this problem. Weeks later the facility still smelled like mold, and the ranting of fellow renters was heard through out the building. Most of these people did not even get the email, and their stuff was totally ruined. It is devastating, and unacceptable. Not only was there water on the ground, pipes and ceiling above was leaking as well. Our items were destroyed because the moisture in the air created mold everywhere. You put your stuff in a storage space for it to be protected, and stored, not to be ruined. I lost many valuable items including art work and old family photos that can not be duplicated. I do not understand why there was no dehumidifiers, fans or professional teams to clean up the aftermath. The facility was loaded with mosquitos and bugs and nothing was done about it. The only thing we noticed was someone painting the outside concrete. There was no refund, discount, remorse or explanation from the employees. There were also no dumpsters to even throw out boxes or garbage. It was like the twilight zone. read more

I give a glowing recommendation to this facility. I went to the competitors in town first, they were much more expensive and multi-level. Extra s Storage in Freeport has all of their storage lockers on the first floor. I always did not like having to go to storage when it on the first floor, having to get in those creepy elevators, and then those long walks. If you're doing a move in or out, it's sheer torture. Not to mention the dark, dank hallways and most of these facilities. The setup at this facility is awesome, you can have your car relatively close to where your locker is, based on the entrance. It's very well lit, and all the storage lockers on the first floor. I spent a long talk time talking to Roger, the manager. He gave me an excellent price, he was very friendly and professional. The facility is filled with mold. Our storage at the facility is completely covered with mold as well as our daughter who has a separate storage place. We were told by the management no one else has complained. Also informed, mold is not covered by the insurance. The management when we complained seemed unconcerned. read more

I was really pleased with my time at this storage facility.The customer service was always pleasant and knowledgeable as well as accommodating. Although they did inform me that my fee would go up, I didn't plan on it being raised more than once and so close together. They also charge an unnecessary "insurance" charge based on the estimated value of your belongings and for that they get 3 stars from me. Facility is very clean and maintained. I also felt safe while inside during off hours. I'd use them again but ONLY if absolutely necessary but would still recommend. read more

I just moved back to New York from Florida. I had used Extra Space Storage before in North Miami, Florida. The prices are great and the facility is clean and well protected. I have the same experience here in New York. The sign up process was easy and the Sales Associate was very friendly, he even waived the one time Administration Fees accessed for new customers. FREEPORT BEWARE: I don't know who had a good experience with Roger but its probably a self review. He was very rude and condescending. Discussing my call (which I taped) with someone else. He calls me to tell me my payment is due and that they havent received. So ask him to hold and I go online to their easy pay option which the payment was scheduled a month in advance and still showing that is was to be paid 2 days ago. He tells me it needs to be in his office by Monday or a late fee will be charged. I told him that the money was there and has been over 7K in that account for over a month, thats when I set up all my billing for ezpays so as not to get calls like I got today. He told me the system automatically processes payments at 12:01 and it did not take my card. I told him there must be something wrong with the system he tells me that the money must not have been there. I am telling him I have my statement and I can give him a copy of my online statement of transactions as well. He tells me he just ran card again and it took. I told him I used your online system over a month ago to take the payment automatically you may be having issues with your processing. He says look miss the payment was processed and our system works fine. So I asked him are you saying that after 9 times of using this service without issue and the fact that money is in the bank and your syterm did not process my payment that I am lying.. He said, well our system is working. The disgreement starts and then he has a co-worker in the backgroungd telling him she knows she didnt have the money now she wants to argue... REALLY...THEY SUCK AND I AM GOING TO GET MY THINGS OUT OF THERE ASAP.. THEY HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I AM REPORTING HIM ..ROGER!!!!!! read more
