My husband and I had our oldest son's rehearsal dinner at the Twisted Vine a few years back. Our youngest son got married on Dec 7th. His rehearsal dinner was held on Friday night Dec 6th. Since we had such a good experience we decided to go back. We had 30 guests. I WILL NEVER GO BACK, I AM SO DISGUSTED!! Our party was supposed to start at 6pm, all of the guests were at the restaurant with the EXCEPTION OF 3, who were coming in from Virginia and were lost. I spoke with Mike a few days earlier to go over the menu, seating, etc. We selected our menu from the party sheet that was given to us. I explained to Mike that I didn't want the bar tab to get out of control so I requested that only beer wine and soda be served.
We sat around for at least 40 min before anyone came to take a drink order. Since we were waiting on 3 guests I made the decision to wait a "few minutes". Unfortunatley, I assumed that carafes of wine would come to the table and or pitcher's of beer or soda. There was not even WATER on the table for my guests!!! I then waited for bread to be brought to the table, NO BREAD, we asked a least 3 times for bread to be brought to the table. My son (the groom) came to me several times (at least 3) and requested we get started. Since my guest were getting frazzled and all were from out of town and had a long drive I requested that fried calamari be brought to the table so that my guest would have SOMETHING to munch on. At this point we still have NO BREAD ONTHE TABLE.
I had to ask at least 3 times let's get started bring the salad out. That should have been prepped ahead of time and refridgerated so that it only had to be dressed. We finally got the salad that was swimming in dressing but still NO BREAD. Are you kidding?!!!? An Italian restaurant. FINALLY we did get cold bread.
We had sausage and peppers that was OVERLOADED with sauce, we had chicken marsala, sauce was overflowing because they put too much on the plate. My granddaughter who is 7 can make better Penne a la vodka than what was served. Very bland.
When I had my eldest son's rehearsal there was a chef named Elaine, I'm not sure what happened to her. f I had to guess I would say she was too good to stay at an establishment that will go under sooner, if not later. Note to the new chef: YOUR FOOD IS TOO SALTY, don't believe me read the other 27+ lousey reviews this restaurant has.
Now it's time for dessert, I was told that my guests could select from their dessert menu on an individual basis and that he would "work that out" as far as pricing goes. According to the menu sheet that was presented to us dessert would start at $2.50 PP (per person). When I asked the waiter for dessert, I was told "we have almost nothing left"!!! I said what??? I requested that they go check in the kitchen and let me know exactly what they had. I was told they had 5 pieces of cannoli pie left, I requested all 5 pieces, the bride ordered a pumpkin pie and 3 people ordered cheesecake. I was charge $72 dollars for 12 pieces of cannoli pie (that's $6 each), I was charged for 5 cheesecakes. Full disclosure I DID NOT LOOK AT THE BILL BY LINE ITEM, I looked at the bottom line which was $1,650.44!!!!!
If your in a restaurant having a PRIVATE PARTY OF 30, don't you think we should have had dedicated servers waiting on us??? Instead the wait staff had to take care of the entire restaurant in addition to our party!!! I will say they were all polite, that's why I'm giving them 1 star.
Now if you think I'm making this complaint because I received a bill for $1,700. instead of the approx. $1-$1,200. I thought it might be your wrong. I called Mike the restaurant owner after we got back to our home town and he had the worst attitude I have ever seen by someone who is in this business. I was not unkind nor was I rude, I spoke very politely, and thought I was letting him know how disappointed I was so that this would not happen again. I was told "I should have said some thing that night, I was told he checked with Frank the older gentleman who was managing that night. I was told that he came to our table numerous times to check on things either he is lying or Frank is lying. I'm disgusted by his attitude, I never got so much as an apology, a thank you for your business NOTHING!!! TWO (2)
WEEKS LATER AND HE STILL HASN'T RETURNED MY CALL IN REFERENCE TO ALL THE DESSERT WE SUPPOSEDLY ATE!!!
If you think I'm spending my precious time writing this bad review because I'm trying to get money back, I haven't asked for any, nor was I offered for that matter. I wasn't even offered a complimentary dinner, like please come back on the house. Well don't worry, I wouldn't even if it was offered!!! My husband and I just dropped $20K on a wedding at the Waterview in Monroe, so this bill was a drop in the bucket.
Too bad I didn't read the HORRIBLE REVIEWS PRIOR TO BOOKING MY PARTY. Notice all the bad reviews from this year alone! DONT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!! read more
