This place felt like Willy Wonka opened a milkshake bar for the Instagram generation…read more We stopped by Black Rock Dessert while looking for ice cream and instead found milkshakes on steroids. We ordered the Dust Storm: a vanilla milkshake with chocolate bits, topped with a giant blondie skewered dramatically on top, plus whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate drizzle. The rim of the jar was coated in marshmallow dip and graham cracker crumbs because apparently subtlety has left the chat. Honestly, the presentation was on point and exactly the kind of milkshake kids dream about. Which is why we ordered it. My tween declared it "the best milkshake I've ever seen in my life," and honestly, that alone made it worth the stop on our mother-daughter trip. Taste-wise, it leaned very sweet for me and didn't have a ton of flavor depth beyond sugar overload. But clearly the goal here is maximal fun and aesthetic, and they absolutely nailed that. It's basically a photo op you can drink. The shop itself was surprisingly quiet when we visited in the evening--we had the whole place to ourselves--but there were games to play while waiting for our order (we pulled out Pick Up Sticks, which transported me straight back to my 90s childhood living room). The ladies at the counter were also incredibly kind and patient explaining the menu and flavors to us. If you're looking for an over-the-top dessert experience your kids will talk about for days, this is your place.

If you're a sweet tooth like me, C's Mad Batter Cakery is a MUST try!…read more I've been supporting this local business for years, this pastry chef actually made my baby shower cake years ago when she was still working from home, and she has never let me down! Every item made at C's is so delicately done, you can immediately tell how much time, love and effort was put into every single recipe as soon as you take your first bite! From beginning to end, you will receive a quality experience at C's. In addition, the ambiance of this place is so warm, welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. It feels like a spring afternoon in Paris! From fruit pastries, cinnamon rolls, and custom cakes, there are so many options that will make it hard to choose from and will more than likely leave you wanting more. I've seen the viral fruit pastries all over social media and safe to say C definitely has her recipe down. The raspberry pastry was a perfect blend of sweet and tart while the cupcakes were rich in flavor while also being a perfect balance of sweet, soft and perfectly portioned icing. When it comes to supporting local business, C's Mad Batter Cakery, is a staple on my list.

When it came time to order one person was asking for our drink orders while simultaneously another person was taking our pastry orders so I was pulled in two directions between ordering both. Back and forth. Their system isn't quite ironed out and I had to keep repeating my order and then correcting it because one of the ladies forgot a few items and was on to another customer. They were both very nice, it would have been much simpler giving the complete order to one person and then it getting separated on their side between drinks and food. It was like they were not in sync? In their defense it was starting to get busy. Both croissants we tried were phenomenal! The banana cream and Dubai are 10/10! I also thought the caramel pecan cinnamon roll was a big fat 10 as well! The cupcakes were good but didn't really stand out to me. We enjoyed our coffees very much, Thank you to the sweet girl making them. It takes a few mins. There's so many good looking items I'm looking forward to coming back and trying. I think they need a better system for ordering but maybe it was just an off morning. Not mad about it, we will definitely be back:)

I was super bummed they didn't have any, but we did settle for their peanut butter chocolate marble cake. I'm a personal sucker for lemon anything, so their lemon blueberry was a no-brainer. We had to take a red velvet cake bomb home as well. It's a big "cake pop" coated in chocolate ganache. It was my personal favorite! This cute little shop hasn't changed since the last time I set foot in there. The older lady working in the evening was a doll. She was friendly and patiently answered all of my questions. The frosting wasn't overly sweet, but our cake slices were on the dry side. I wish at about $9 a slice they were dated, so as a consumer, I knew when it was baked. The cake bomb is the way to go if you want dry cake or wash it down with a glass of milk. *They do a stamp card here, so ask for yours when you check out.* With their prices creeping up, I'll have to rethink my next visit to buy a dry slice of cake.

I stopped by right before closing and even though it was quiet the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I'm no stranger to this chain (usually visit locations in LA) but this particular spot absolutely lived up to expectations. The store was clean, bright, and colorful, with a variety of options to choose from. I picked up a mix of ice cream pops (banana, jamaica, strawberry, arroz con leche, and rompope). Every single one was delicious! I grabbed a few more flavors too, but those stood out as my favorites so far. To top it off, I tried the agua de jamaica, which was perfectly balanced refreshing and not overly sweet. Overall this location delivered exactly what I love about La Michoacána: great flavors, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area even if it's late they'll still treat you right!

We both decided to get a large Oreo milkshake! It was good! Milkshakes are hard to mess up (in my experience) but this one is good. The Oreo taste is strong, there's nice small cookie chunks with it, and the whipped cream on top is good to cap it off. Definitely good! Definitely good. I'll definitely come to this place again another time that I come to the public market for something sweet!

The lines are crazy since they took to social media. Order in person and take a buzzard and stick close; wait times can vary. I recommend getting there after opening to ensure you're not waiting too long for your cup. They offer dessert mini pancakes and crepes. Quality ingredients, I just wish my cup had more of an even mixup of the pistachio to chocolate ratio. Everything else was delicious and well worth the hype. The cups are a bit spendy $18/ cup, but nowadays what isn't?! This truck can be found parked next to the grocery outlet on the weekends Friday and Saturday 6:30-10:30 p.m. and Sundays 6:30-10 p.m. They prefer cash, apple pay and zelle, but they do also accept cards.
