Activities are planned for the kids. This was a kickball game adults versus kids.

They also schedule hay rides, arts and crafts and even a DJ at night time. This is my second year coming and I actually extended this year stay an additional two days. It is so beautiful here, and the grounds and facilities are very well taken care of. There is a strict 5 mph rule for the safety of the kids. And even though there's kids here, they are well supervised and not rowdy at all. The scenery is breathtaking here.

    Walk around the lake

Had visited Twin Oaks on the recommendation of some friends who have been going there for sometime and I'm glad we did! We were looking for a nice quiet and clean place and we found it! We arrived late due to the fact we hitting traffic and owners Karen and Larry couldn't be more accommodating. Even tho it was late they even went out of their way to drop off some fresh firewood so we could get our vacation underway! This trip we stayed in one of the cabins by the lake because we wanted the lake experience and it was awesome. It's a no frills cabin which means you bring your own sheets and pillows and towels but they supplied the bed, table and chairs and it even had air conditioning! While we didn't need the AC on this trip but was nice to know it was there. Since the cabin was electrified we even brought a small refrigerator with us so it all worked out. The grounds were so well maintained as were the facilities, in a COVID wold there was plenty of soap and sanitizer to go around. Had a few chats with the owners and they were very nice and gave us some history of the place and gave us some recommendations on what to do locally. Looking forward to returning again soon.

The lake at Twin Oaks. The campground goes around this lake.

Very pretty campground, we were only there one night, but found it clean, quiet and very great view.

Totally agree which Tom. Larry and Karen are the best. Such a nice relaxing and peaceful place to stay. Always a great time.

If however you decide not to go down to the bottom, there is a viewing platform . The waterfall pressure/flow can vary depending on when you visit. Heavy after rain or less during the summer months. Swimming is allowed in the basin , the water is cold . The fall and parking are free in designated parking lots. There was a porta potty in tje lot we parked in. Not sure if there's one in each parking lot though. Don't park anywhere along the roads as you will get ticketed and/or towed. Arrive early aa the parking lots fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Personally I wouldn't do this trail on a rainy day especially if you're a beginner. Lots of stepping stones that can be slippery when wet. Other than that it's one of the most beautiful trails I've been on.

There was also a table at the entrance to the trails with a person who didn't have much knowledge of the trails nor falls?? Spent 75 minutes and was able to hike upper, mid, lower falls and plenty of time to explorer. The trail to the viewpoint is very short and easy to find. The location provides an excellent long range mountain views, however, a mediocre view to the entire falls IMO. There was little water when I visited in mid- September and leaves hadn't changed colors yet. The trail to the falls is NOT marked very well after the initial 2 signs. I met a man with a cute dog who mountain biked but never found the falls! Many on the trail said they continued on stairs (straight) that didn't go to the falls! If you want to just hike without the Falls as the end goal, then this park works for you. Otherwise, download the trail map or access Alltrails prior to arriving. Lucky for me I received an advice from returning hikers who knew the park and advised me well :). The KF hikes are not long but are pretty steep... scrambling maybe required especially to get to the cove behind the upper falls. The KF trail split, to the bottom of the falls and to the mid- falls, is pretty close. So, the view to the entire falls was worth hiking down to. The trail near the bottom of the falls is red rock stairs and well maintained. Recommend water, sun protection and decent treaded shoes for gravel and roots. Bugs were minimal during my visit. There is no running water but a port-a-potty at Laurel House parking lot. Parking was a gravel lot and was about 2/3 full. Enjoy!

I've been camping here 35 years, and this was the worst year by far. It's not the place, it's the people coming here. I spoke with rangers and employees and they all said the same thing... it's a tough year. "Everyone is welcome' signs posted everywhere and they mean it. But there were numerous fights and it was always the same certain group of people. There were sites being loud and it was always another group of a different certain people. Our site smelled like weed 3 days straight, and the ranger said there's nothing they could do.... Always seemed to be another different kind of people. I'm about diversity and cultural differences but there's no regard for neighbors anymore. The staff seem just as tired as everyone else. A 40 year old man was showering in a woman's bathroom with young girls in it. Police showed up and said it's not illegal. 5 cop cars and 1 1/2 later and nothing happened. We go camping to escape the craziness..... but the craziness is in the state campgrounds. We won't be back for a few years. Hopefully the laws change by then. Camping used to be about calm and peace, talking to neighbors and being friendly. The world has changed and everyone is about themselves. Horrible reality.

We came here every day to enjoy the lovely view of the lake, take a leisurely stroll with the dog, and spend an afternoon fishing (for my 15 year old son). It's about a 15-20 minute drive from Cooperstown along the east shore. At the main entrance, you'll pay a $7 admission fee per vehiecle, or you can just show your NY State Parks Empire Pass card. This is a gem of a park that is well worth the price of admission. First, it feels open and spacious with nice hiking trails. Second, the view of Lake Otsego is lovely. You may see a few kayakers or windsurfers on the lake depending on weather conditions. If you have young children, this is a must-visit place as there are kid-friendly playgrounds. Third, the lake is shallow and calm by the beach, but the water temperature can feel a bit chilly. In the summer, they have lifeguards available starting at 11:00am. Finally, the park has a concession stand which sells basic snacks, hot dogs, and drinks. It's also worth it to take a short walk up the hill to see Hyde Hall and the view of the lake from there!
