Even though nothing was open during our stay due to off season, it is very nice park and I would love to come back during summer. One star off only because we didn't get to see everything. They have very nice trails in the park from short ones(15 min) to the decent trail (2h) and you can choose the difficulties and lengths of the trails. They also have nice beach which we obviously didn't get to enjoy and camp site. Within the park they have Hyde hall which was closed during our stay:( I was super sad to find out even Hyde hall is closed for the season but the view from the hill was AMAZING. We would definitely come back during summer!!!!

During quarantine we all want to find a perfect state park - look no further! This is the most welcoming and wonderful place to have a picnic or go take a swim in the lake. There is now a daily fee, but it's totally worth it. There is a nice hike along the lake and it's perfect for family and puppy fun! We've been here several times and they have so many great amenities - you can host parties (in the future post COVID!) Rain or shine this place is a gem and we are so grateful to have access it! Hope you all get to visit, social distance and enjoy the beloved beauty we have all needed during these trying times!

Great place to visit summer and winter. Summer has a nice lake side beach with easy to moderate hiking trails. Winter brings along good cross-country ski trails.

Great place to relax during the pandemic. Folks maintain their distance. Kids took a dip and play ball in the picnic area

Beautiful park with tons of picnic areas

This was a great place for the kids to go swimming while others in our party visited the HOF. They wore themselves out in the water and on the playground. Clean and beautiful scenery!

Today was an off day from Dreams Park and looked for something to do with other parents and kids. The road here is full of curves so be careful driving. I drive twice looking for parking at the covered bridge but no sign so I walked from beach area. The covered bridge is oldest in US and neat. Stopped at beach briefly and looked clean and spacious. Decided to pay the $12 and took tour of Hyde Hall Mansion. This is a mansion that was built for the Clarke family from England. Very old and still in restoration from the 1960's when state of NY got by eminent domain. Asked why restoration is taking so long and was told there is no money and it's really bureaucratic. The views of Otsego lake are gorgeous. Nice diversion from baseball.

This park is great! The covered bridge is historical and fun to see, there are trails that can be reasonably hiked by a family with young kids, a large swimming area and beach, nice and updated facilities, easy access bathrooms, and a super fantastic newer swing set. We didn't get to check out Hyde Mansion, but we drove by it and it was awesome.

Went hiking in the off season (fall) really great hiking trails

Just a nice play to hang and fish. Park was clean. Fishing was iffy, but hooked a few.

There's a covered bridge you can check out, lots of rolling (read a bit hilly) paved paths with only moderate traffic.

I would suggest not to believe the sign saying 189 steps.... it is definitely more! Take drinking water because you'll need that for sure. We went back in August and the heat was definitely there. The parking lot was pretty packed but throughout the trails people were pretty evenly spaced out. Not so much at the base of the falls themselves but there was still plenty of room to move around freely.

Physical requirement is…read moredifferent tho, Kaaterskill Falls has about 500foot of elevation change and a lot of slippery stone steps at the end, if you come here when the weather is still cold. Parking: most people park at the Laurel-House Road parking area, because it is the closest. Or you can park at Mountain Top Historical Society, the old train station, which an extra mile. Starting from the old railroad station is nice, you can still see some old tracks on the ground. Walk to the overlook is fairly easy, once you get to the start point of Lower falls junction, it is where you need to be prepared. I recommend hiking shoe, especially in colder months where the ground is wet and iced. When you reach to the stone steps, they can get slippery. I am surprised no one fell in late March. Half of the steps were cover in ice and people were wearing regular sneakers. Once you reach the base of the two tier falls, the view is tremendous. If water levels are high, you can feel the energy of the water. There is a lot of spray from the falls when you get close. There is short trail to the middle tier pool. It was iced up during winter, spikes will definitely be useful. The end was amazing too. So close to the lead of the waterfall. You can keep going and follow Escarpment trail and follow the edge of the valley. There is monument for fireman Frank Layman who died during firefighting in 1900, at his monument, you can see route 23A bend around mountain. And if you keep going, there are a couple viewpoint to overlook the valley. Nice break points to enjoy the view and rest your legs.

It's a nice walk around the main lake. Amazing pictures to be taken of foliage and lake. I would say avoid Summer crowd as it can bring in some riff raff campers. Not great hiking unless your looking for flat dirt road hiking. If you don't plan on camping you can rent a Log cabin. The log cabin rentals are....eh? Do your homework prior to going to be sure you know what your renting. Has beach on end of the lake but can sometimes be mud and not sand. The tables are a good distance from each other and perfect for the 6 ft social distancing amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. This park was not crowded, had a few families and dogs- but just the perfect amount this past Saturday. I really enjoyed being here and was so grateful for the views. They have a nice hiking trail and it's a wide open space. I am thankful for the lake where you can canoe and kayak. Everyone is very respectful to each other. The park also has two lovely playgrounds for children to play on- after the pandemic. I can't say enough good things about this park because it's just perfect. If you ever have a chance to get outside and explore this is the place to be. Early mornings in the summer - I cannot wait to go back- but friends don't forget your masks! Stay safe!
