Hard not to give a 5 to nature and this is no exception. We missed peak fall foliage (I imagine the views would be even more spectacular), but the falls are the star! We headed down the trail from the overlook - although a fair amount of steps, not overly difficult for this 'slightly older' hiker. The well-placed bridge at the bottom of the falls affords fantastic views. We spent quite a bit of time framing up shots and just soaking in the sound of the water. In something unusual in my experience, there's a bench near the bridge in case you'd like to sit and reflect for a few minutes. It was the first day of Nov - chilly & cloudy, so it wasn't crowded, but a few people happened by during our hike. Great little hike and picturesque park - was worth the detour to stop by!

Easy hike to do! Start by the viewing platform and walk/hike your way around. It was beautiful coming up the road, you could see the falls before getting there. There is a secondary trail that leads beyond the road bridge atop the falls, it leads to another road. If you turn left and walk alongside it you'll get back to the main entrance of the park across the road. Just be careful as cars may be coming and going. Lots of daddy long legs on the latter half of the trail. Be sure not to squish them! Happy Trails!

I had seen such gorgeous pictures of this location for a long time and while I was home this summer, many of the things we would normally do were cancelled, so we got outside a bunch more! We made the drive over here on a weekday afternoon. It was easy to find. The parking lot was quite a mess and desperately needs re-paving. There are self serve payment stations to cover the cost of admission/parking but we couldn't get them to work on this day! (Maybe thats why they have no $ to pave the lot?). There are porto potties to use for bathrooms. There are several picnic shelters. If you have small children, older, or handicapped members of your party, be warned, there are a lot of stairs, and some of them are quite tedious. My older mother almost did not want to proceed and she is in really good health. To simply see the top of the falls there are 2 sets of wider stairs that are in good shape. If you wish to go down to the bottom of the falls, which has the best view, that is when it becomes more challenging. There are multiple sets of stairs and somewhat narrow steep trails to walk down. For me alone they were ok, but with 2 dogs, it was more difficult. Because of how narrow the walk is, it was hard to social distance from others walking up or down in the same area, so bring your mask! Overall the distance to the bottom is 10 mins or so. The challenge was worth it as we all made it to the gorgeous views at the bottom. There is a nice bridge over the river that gives you the most central view of the falls. After enjoying the view and listening to the calming sound of the water, we decided to proceed back the way we came, instead of taking our chances with finishing the loop and going back up the other side of the hill.

A great place to visit and hike, but if you don't have a sense of direction and/or a compass be careful on the smaller trails cause you can easily get lost There are picnic tables and grills available to picnic, they are at least 6 feet apart, the ones under the roof are closed because they're too close together The trail with the Best field was closed for some reason, it's normally only closed in the winter not sure why they didn't open it up this summer You're technically supposed to pay for parking however it's not enforced (I actually called the department of parks and recreation to get the scoop because a lot of people were confused) there's an automated machine you can use your credit card it's three dollars during the week and five dollars on weekends, but since it's not enforced it's a matter of conscience

Decided to take a quick drive to a local SP and ended up here. Easy to find trails, clearly marked. Very clean Park. Currently under construction (assuming restrooms etc) Plenty of benches/tables and parking and of course the falls are beautiful. To much of a trek for us to get close but most others would find the trail easy to navigate. Beautiful Park

I can see this place being fun during the summer season. The waterfall is huge and looks refreshing during hot weather. The hike itself is pretty short. Just 15 to 20 minutes from the parking lot, therefore the trail is easy. It's a slope down on the left side of the fall. You can see the top of the fall near the parking lot. Just walk to the pedestrian bridge. The park is well maintained. This is definitely kid-friendly hike. Here's a video of my experience: https://youtu.be/DXNxWc7AoEQ

I went to Chittenango two falls ago, and was pleasantly surprised! When we drove up, we did not expect much, but once you get over the edge, the falls are incredibly impressive! We only walked down to the bridge by the falls and admired them, but there are more options for hiking I believe! Good spot in the spring/summer/fall to admire the water flowing and in the winter to see the frozen waterfall!

Chittenango Falls is the prettiest spot in all of Madison County, at least I think so. :-) and it has been a few years since I was last there, so after a recent trip to Cazenovia with my Momma... we took a little detour to the falls. The park is easy to find- just cruise down Route 13 {from either Cazenovia or Chittenango) and you literally cannot miss it. There is parking available either on a small side street or in an official {gravel} parking lot. Parking is supposedly $3/weekdays and $5/weekends but on the day we visited there was a sign covering up the parking meter which meant we parked for free. It's a small lot- but a decent amount of cars can fit... I wandered rather quickly past the playground and small picnic area to the real star of the park: the waterfall. After checking out the map located near the top of the hill I made my way down the winding path to the bottom of the falls... be careful- there are stairs and there aren't any rails. And I highly suggest wearing sneakers if you're going to walk up/down the trail. The trail is a bit rough... branches, rocks, bumps in the dirt. But once at the bottom- your journey down the hill will have been soooo worth it. The falls are gorgeous. And the bridge located at the bottom of the hill allows you the best view of both the falls and the river it flows into. We visited at the beginning of spring where the trees & flowers hadn't fully bloomed yet... I imagine right now the area surrounding the falls is just as beautiful. Nature at it's best. A drive out to Chitt Falls is absolutely worth it.

It's a little bit of a drive for me to get to, but I've made the trek to Chittenango a couple times in the past couple years. I love this park. It's beautiful and the hike to get down to the bridge crossing the creek isn't bad at all!

Absolutely beautiful, picturesque waterfall!! Breathtaking! Nice big parking lot with free parking. There are five or so hiking trails in this park. It was easy to get off track and end up on another trail. The signage wasn't great, but I never felt like we got lost.

Excellent. 1) This is a huge waterfalls. When we went, the water flow was so powerful, the ground were vibrating and shaking. 2) The best view is from the bridge all the way down the trail. 3) Must visit.

I've been here several times now and each time it's amazing. Took my son and some friends there for an early morning hike before breakfast. The foliage was great, it was a beautiful morning and when we got there, the park only had a few people. We did our usual hike down the left side of the falls, over the bridge and back up towards the creek. Kids had a blast, it was a great time and no charge for parking this weekend!

It's not too far off from Heritage Hill Brewery, so you can do a two-for and visit both-- however the park is lovely and worth a visit on its own. There's an overlook near the entrance where you can get a glimpse of the waterfall. However, the falls are also within walking distance of the start of the trail. The hill is on a slant and there are steep stairs, so the view may not be accessible for those who have difficulty walking. However, it was so calming just to sit and watch and listening to the waterfall. The day I went, there were others out but the paths didn't feel claustrophobic. I took some time and walked through the woods. The trail I took was relatively short, I think about a half mile total. I appreciated that there was a marker at the start that let you know how long it was. I am by no means a regular hiker (hoping to change that one day!) but this trail wasn't exhausting and was quite serene. This is a great park with a great waterfall and is definitely worth checking out!

This place is the ultimate solution if you kinda feel like going to a museum but also want to be outdoors and go to the park, and can't choose. The park itself is stunning. It's an outdoor art park that has sculptures spread out around the grounds. There are multiple trails, some gravel and some grass. Some truly stunning views, with the lake visible in the distance at some high points. You'll wander through fields and woods and hills and happen upon other-wordly shapes and statues. The pieces are spread out, but not so much that you get overly tired hunting for them. Some are in clusters, but every now and then you'll just happen upon another one. Stumbling on another sculpture kind of makes you feel like an archaeologist or explorer uncovering ruins of ancient civilizations. It's got a very ethereal feeling. My favorite sculpture was giant metal flowers that kind of looked like a gate, but there were a lot of cool figures in different styles and mediums. The only downside I saw was that the paper maps available at the entrance had a QR code with more info about the artists and art, but I didn't see any paper or sign descriptions anywhere, which I thought would be helpful for folks who don't have phones or always run out of their data halfway through the month (guilty.) I understand that perhaps pieces change often, but it still would be nice to have more options for deeper context. Nonetheless, it was still super fun to wander and gander. I came early on a weekend morning and there was another car or two, but mostly the park seemed empty and it was extremely serene. Love it, wish it was closer. If I lived down the road I'd probably be here every day.
