This is a great spot to bring the dogs, or even just to read or book. While we were there we saw people taking Senior portraits. I have never been here in winter, but I imagine it is also beautiful then. Some of the trails may be challenging for certain groups (steep incline etc) but are easy for most. It is well maintained and the visitors seem to be respectful. Pictures and description do not do this justice so just come and visit, take some time in nature.

I spent half of my life in this area and never knew such a place existed... If you, too, are unaware, then it's time you explored this little gem. We stopped by on a very random, cloudy, and cool weekday afternoon. The parking area held a couple of cars but has plenty of spots for more. At the edge of the lot, we found a map highlighting several different trails ranging in difficultly. We opted to keep it light to start and took a simple loop which saw some beautiful landscape. after running into a fellow hiker and his dog, who frequent the trails, we decided to keep going, as per the hikers rec. Let me tell ya -- if you keep going up, you'll find yourself with some unexpected and lovely views of Camillus and beyond. I would definitely not call myself a hiker, but I'm so glad we decided to keep going, totally worth the journey. And just a reminder that as you climb the elevation to find those views.. its down hill back to the parking lot.

Bald Mountain is rated an easy trail to do with families around Old Forge. My family with teens…read moredecided to hike this trail and said it was super fun. They liked the climbing the boulders, ledges and roots. It does take some balance and finesse to navigate the trail. Some difficult areas have herd trails next to it to help with the steep portions if you're unable to climb. It would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues or balance issues. 3 areas with breath taking views. The full trip is 1.8 miles with a steep incline a few steps in and then some ups and down in the trail. It took our family 28 minutes to hike up. This was with stops to take pictures and 34 minutes to hike down. Descending is more of a challenge. Registration book and pencil at the beginning of the trail to sign in. I would use caution during a wet season or early morning dew.

It was like the perfect amount of hike! The views were gorg and amazing!! We had to wait in line for like 20 minutes to climb up the lookout, but it was totally worth it for the pic and the view! It was a bit of a drive from the heart of Ithaca but, worth it to see the beautiful namesake waterfall. As rain was expected, we decided to skip the longer hike to the lower falls and went to the upper overlook which was beautiful with a nice visitor area and clean/clear walking paths. If in this area, I think this state park is a must visit.

It was 1 mile each way (from the parking lot to near the base of the falls). The trail was relatively flat and shaded for parts of it (but not all). There were a few benches along the way to take breaks, and water at the beginning of the trail to fill up your water bottle. It costs $10/car to get into the state park but you can use that ticket to get into other state parks on the same day without paying again, which would be great to visit nearby Buttermilk Falls and other parks.

It's like a hidden haven right off to the side. The rustic stone steps and handrails were charming and a few stone bridges added to the ambiance. While there are a few sections where you have to use the stairs on the trail, they are not that long or tall. I think this place is perfect for casual walks and doesn't take much effort to finish. The Cascadilla Gorge path doesn't require any fees to enter! Parking in a spot can be a bit difficult though. Just to notify visitors: depending on the weather, climate, season or conditions, the trail might end up getting partially closed off. The very first time I came here, the second half of the trail was cut off and locked behind a gate. There was a sign that said the conditions to travel any further were considered too dangerous. I returned again at a later date, and the remainder of the trail had been reopened.
